Chapter 471 Storage Room

Unusually cold winds blew across the eerie forest as darkness enveloped the world.

Although it was the perfect time to rest nestled in a sleeping bag, the ashen-haired young man remained awake, diligently scanning the exit he had discovered.

Shye finally realized why he rarely encountered creatures inside the dungeon.

The reason was because they were out hunting for food.

His speculations were confirmed as low growls echoed one after the other from the darkness, seemingly growing closer and closer.

Hearing the monster growls, Shye quickly returned inside the dungeon, applied scent-altering perfumes, and climbed the walls of the dungeon using his greatswords.

He then concealed himself from the monsters by plunging Adamance deep into the upper parts of the dungeon walls and squatting on its handle.

Observing the returning creatures, who were biting on the necks of dead lower-ranked monstrous creatures, Shye narrowed his eyes.

'If the dungeon didn't have "rules", then these guys shouldn't be bringing back prey. Instead, they should be consuming them outside the dungeon, returning only when they are full…'

This means that there is "order" inside the dungeon, clumsy as it may be.

And since the ghouls were bringing back food, this meant that there was indeed a storage room inside the dungeon—probably even multiple.

Carefully tailing the ghouls, Shye saw a blood-curdling sight upon arriving at what he would like to call the "central area", where the massive azure glowing sinkhole and the descending roughly made staircases were located.

Thousands of monsters converged in the mentioned area.

There were ghouls, vampires, gargoyles, and many other undead-type creatures, and all of them had prey in either their hands or mouths.

It was a chaotic sight.

Yet, as they descended the staircases, they orderly queued behind each other, seemingly headed towards the same pathway.

'Hoho…so that's the pathway where the food storage room is located…'

If Shye had foolishly explored every pathway, it would have taken him several months to thoroughly search the entire place, especially since each pathway appeared almost identical, including the one the monsters entered.

He would use up his life's entire luck if he managed to complete the quest on time with such a stupid approach.

Luckily, his high intelligence stat worked wonders, allowing him to formulate a feasible plan.

In just around fifteen hours since entering the dungeon, Shye had already discovered a promising lead on a crucial area—one that he could use to locate the four generals and the lord monster.

He couldn't just follow them, though, as the lowest ranked out of all the monsters he spotted were the (C) ranked Rabid Zombies, and there were thousands of them.

Moreover, there were also thousands of (B-) ranked ghouls and hundreds of (B) ranked monsters.

It was simply impossible for a young human to fight all of them at the same time.

'Oops…almost forgot…Appraisal!'

'Ohh? So I can also see talents now? I get what stamina and mana are but what does "Hit Points" mean?'

Shye had no inkling. However, he had an idea of how to determine what it was, hence, he decided to temporarily shift his focus back to the monsters.

'Hmm…Seems like it would be better to rest for tonight.' Shye pondered.

Tomorrow, a substantial number of monsters were likely to leave the dungeon once more, providing the perfect opportunity for him to explore the pathway they entered with their prey.

'Guess I'll sleep for now…'

Setting up his Small Camouflage Camp somewhere near the central area, Shye ate one of his ready-to-eat meals, nestling snugly in his sleeping bag shortly after.

He then woke up at around noon.

Peering out of the camp, Shye was greeted by a horrifying scene.

Unlike yesterday, when he didn't even encounter a single monster despite walking around for three hours, the pathways were infested by both small and large monsters—most of them crawled, some walked, and others flew around.

Shye could heroically go out and attempt to wipe them out. However, there were no merits in doing so.

At least at the moment since he hadn't completed his goals of slaying the generals and the lord monsters yet.

Once he successfully achieves a three-star completion, then Shye could use whatever energy and resources he has left to kill as many as possible and harvest their corpses.

For now, the completion requirements shall be his priority.

After waiting inside the camp for around five more hours, the ground rumbled, prompting Shye to peer out of the camp once more.

'They're finally making a move…'

Waiting for another half an hour to allow the monstrous creatures to exit the dungeon, Shye swiftly disassembled the camp, heading straight towards the pathway the monsters entered yesternight.

Upon arriving, though, he was greeted by around 20 (B) ranked monsters—a mix of gargoyles and vampires.

*ROAR!*

Naturally, the creatures were angered upon spotting an intruder.

Hence, after roaring furiously, they madly bolted towards Shye, aiming to rip him to shreds.

'Heh, you guys need more than twenty to take me down!'

The next moment, the ten gargoyles summoned two (C-) ranked familiars each, ramping the total number of creatures up to forty.

'Uhh…y-you guys need more than forty to take me down!'

Indeed, forty monstrous creatures of (B) rank and below were simply not enough to take him down.

Shye all easily slaughtered them in a single minute.

Swiftly harvesting the slain creatures' important body parts, Shye continued his journey.

'Ahh…crap…' Shye inwardly cursed.

There were more pathways inside the pathway he entered.

'Well, exploring is unavoidable, I suppose…'

Resolving himself to explore, Shye jogged to increase his exploration speed.

He didn't want to face that tide of monsters if he could help it.

Luckily, it wasn't hard to look for the storage room as after entering one specific pathway, a strong, pungent odor assaulted his olfactory senses.

Then, after following the source of the unpleasant smell for around ten minutes, Shye finally located the room he was looking for.

'Found it!' He thought in sheer delight.

Unbeknownst to him, the ground was already rumbling again in the central area.

The horde of monstrous creatures…had already unexpectedly returned.
