Flashy Adventurer System : Show Off to Get Stronger!

Chapter 472 Uhm, Hi?

'Hoh…they mostly eat beast-type creatures, huh?' Shye mused, none the wiser that he was already in grave danger.

He was quite happy that there were no human corpses in the storage room.

However, he also quickly realized that the WAA's guards probably regulate the creatures' hunts, hence, the lack of dead humans in the storage room.

Only, if he didn't quickly leave, he might be the first human corpse inside.

Luckily, for some reason, not all the creatures had prey in their mouths or claws.

Perhaps because of the hunt regulation again to ensure prey sustainability.

However, despite lesser numbers, there were still thousands of creatures ranked (C) and above headed towards the storage room.

'Hmmm…With such a big storage room, they probably keep everything here. That means the generals and the lord monster either come here for food or have it brought to them by their underlings.'

While observing and studying the enormous storage room with interest, Shye suddenly heard rumbling noises outside the storage room, causing the hairs on his body to stand in utter horror.

'SHI*T!'

Without a moment's delay, Shye once again climbed his way toward the upper parts of the gray dungeon walls.

However, he felt that he would be seen should he remain there, thus, he navigated his way towards the enormous glowing fluorescent crystal growing on the center of the vast rocky ceiling of the storage room and hid behind one of its enormous shards.

Observing the thousands of creatures populating the entire room, Shye felt chills crawling down his spine.

Every single creature inside the room could rip the average gold-ranked adventurer to pieces within seconds, and yet, just beneath Shye, there were at least a thousand five hundred of such creatures.

Naturally, even someone like him, who was aided by a powerful system, would feel nervous.

After all, what if the fluorescent crystal he was hiding on…

'No…No, no, no!!'

Shye could feel the crystal's root slowly slipping from the rocky ceiling, making his heart race in utter panic, however, what could he do? His weight was even adding to the crystal's burden.

Therefore, a few moments later, an incredibly loud shattering sound reverberated throughout the food storage area, enveloping the space in clouds of dust and creating a temporary smokescreen.

Inevitably, though, the smoke subsided, revealing an ashen-haired young man clumsily standing up while clutching his head in pain.

"Uhm…Hi?"

*ROAR!*

Shye tried to warmly greet the creatures, unfortunately, none of them had the intention of returning the greeting as they did not wish to chat with a prospective meal.

As blood-curdling roars, growls, and howls echoed across the vast room, Shye was horrified.

He wanted to flee.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

However, where could he?

He was right in the middle of thousands of bloodthirsty monstrous creatures.

If he wanted to live, then there was only one action he could take: fight the darned creatures to the bitter end.

Ultimately, he ended up right in the middle of the situation he so desperately avoided.

'Damn it all! Come then!'

Howling to the skies as he summoned his rotten mana wings, Shye dared not hold back, immediately using all of the self-buff skills he had.

Then, with one mighty flap of his wings, Shye dodged the assault of thousands of pouncing creatures.

Unfortunately, it wasn't only ghouls he was facing this time.

Shye didn't even have a chance to breathe as he was forced to use his lone priest skill, [Physical Barrier Lv.3], to temporarily block the sharp claws of hundreds of Black Gargoyles.

The barrier immediately shattered just half a second later, though.

Still, half a second was enough for Shye to get himself out of a sticky situation, allowing him to blink out to a corner of the room.

This way, despite his still terrible position, at least he didn't have to worry about his back anymore.

"Eat this, you bastards!"

Switching both greatswords to elemental staffs, Shye immediately used his strongest area-of-effect mage skill.

'Gravitational Drain!'

In the next moment, a massive black magic circle appeared on the ground, drawing everything toward its center while draining their life force.

'Tch, it's not big enough! Boost! Boost!'

Using two charges of boost, the fifty-meter radius magic circle grew to a seventy-meter radius one, reaping the lives of more than six hundred monstrous creatures in mere seconds.

"C-Crap, I thought the kid was already done for…this youngster might be the real deal!" The proctor exclaimed with widened eyes, in utter shock and disbelief as he watched Shye get himself out of a sticky situation, even managing to counterattack in the process.

This time, after recovering from his stupor, the proctor immediately walked out of the observation office and headed towards the room of his superior to report Shye's progress.

*KNOCK!*

*KNOCK!*

*KNOCK!*

"You may enter."

"Sir, I'm here to report on the progress of the Valenzia Special Quest challenger."

"Oh? Logan, what brings you here? Could it be that the Valenzia Challenger perished already?"

"N-No, Sir Gavin. On the contrary, the challenger named Shye Crowley seemed to be way stronger than those who previously challenged the quest. However, he is currently in a position where he has to demonstrate his capabilities and I thought that you should see for yourself, sir."

"Hoh? For you to speak of this challenger so highly…Fine, lead the way."

Exiting Gavin's office, Logan walked at a rather swift pace, afraid that the spine-chilling scene might be over by the time they arrived.

*CREAK!*

Luckily, upon entering the observation room, they noticed that the battle was still ongoing.

However, as Gavin realized the situation Shye found himself in along with discovering hundreds of both charred and sliced-in-half corpses littered on the ground, his eyes almost popped out of their sockets.

"H-Hey, Logan! Was this guy caught snooping around in the food storage room?"

"Y-Yes, Sir Gavin. There were initially around a thousand-five hundred monsters inside…I can't believe that there are only a few hundred more…"

Amid the two WAA agents' astonishment, the ground suddenly rumbled once more.

Then, shortly after, harrowing howls, terrifying growls, and mighty roars echoed along the wide pathways.

The monstrous creatures' reinforcements were arriving.
