Flashy Adventurer System : Show Off to Get Stronger!

Chapter 470 An Unexpected Yet Pleasant Surprise

Shye, who didn't know that he was currently being watched, simply wiped the sweat off his forehead as he scanned his eyes over his artwork of slaughter with a satisfied smile—like an artist who just finished creating a masterpiece.

Ultimately, though, the proctor decided to observe Shye a little longer before reporting the initial results of his attempt to clear the special quest to his superiors.

…Continuing on his journey inside the Abomination Lord Dungeon, Shye's eyes gleamed in utter delight as he spotted rare crafting materials, herbs, and ingredients left and right.

'Heh…hehehehe…I can pick all of this up…right?'

Indeed, he could.

There were no rules regarding the ownership of the treasures inside the dungeon.

Furthermore, it was only just that the one who risked his life to enter and obtain the items should be their rightful owner.

Thinking of the matter from such a perspective, Shye unhesitatingly harvested everything in his path, believing that most of the items would be great redeemable rewards for his division members.

"Pfft…Hahahaha! I like this kid…" The proctor said, laughing in amusement after witnessing the actions of such a practical challenger.

Unfortunately, such "fun" times wouldn't last long inside a dangerous place as merely ten minutes later, a black blur suddenly ambushed him from behind a rocky formation with bits of rotten flesh and bones.

Shye easily detected the creature's sneak attack, though, allowing him to dodge its attack with pinpoint precision and deliver a solid roundhouse kick toward the creature's chest.

*CRACK!*

Upon contact, the harrowing sound of cracking bones echoed, followed by a blood-curdling howl of agony.

'Appraisal!'

Unfortunately, the creature was already out of sight by the time Shye tried to identify what it was, causing his appraisal skill to hit some random plant growing on the side of the dungeon's walls.

What Shye didn't expect was that a pleasant notification would soon follow after he clicked the [Close] button.

[Congratulations! Your system skill: [Appraisal Lv.3], leveled up to >> [Appraisal Lv.4]!]

"Oh?"

Pleasantly surprised by his new level 4 appraisal skill, Shye was eager to test its capabilities.

Unfortunately, though, there was nothing but random plants around.

He tried using the skill again on the Arcera Plant, however, nothing changed as it seemed that there was truly nothing else to say about the plant.

'Hmmm, I should look for some creatures…'

Excited to try out his newly leveled-up [Appraisal] skill, Shye advanced once more, finally reaching a descending pathway that appeared to lead to the next floor of the Abomination Lord Dungeon.

'That's it for the first floor?'

Shye was a little disappointed.

He was prepared to enter an absolute hellhole, yet, the challenge seemed to be way lesser than what he expected.

Again, if someone heard his thoughts, they would probably go crazy in a mix of shock, anger, and disbelief.

An area infested with multiple hundreds of (B-) ranked creatures was disappointing?

Even a full party of emerald-ranked and diamond-ranked adventurers might not make it out alive, yet, there he was complaining about not having an appraisal target.

…After walking for around ten minutes, he arrived at the second floor of the dungeon.

Unfortunately, there were still no creatures around, causing a frown to emerge on his face.

'What the heck? Wasn't this dungeon supposed to have tens of thousands of creatures?'

Shye couldn't help but think something was wrong.

'Hmm... Either the WAA periodically reduces the number of creatures inside, or they're clustered in large groups somewhere in the dungeon...'

Believing that the latter was the more likely reason out of the two, Shye increased his vigilance.

He didn't have to wipe out all of the monsters inside the dungeon as he only needed to kill the four generals and the lord monster.

However, he wouldn't find them by simply walking through random pathways.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

He had to take his chances and enter certain rooms or vast areas, otherwise, he would probably have difficulties locating the targets he was searching for.

Only, the dungeon was so huge that Shye had to walk for hours before encountering a change of scenery.

One such scenery was a vast open space area with an enormous azure-glowing sinkhole in the middle.

Along the sides of the area were roughly constructed spiral staircases descending and leading to more than fifty possible pathways.

"F*CK!"

Upon discovering such a nightmarish area that would undoubtedly make locating the generals and the lord far more difficult, Shye couldn't help but curse.

It seemed that the dungeon was way larger than he anticipated.

'I need a plan…I can't just enter and explore each pathway like an idiot…'

Indeed.

If he did such a stupid thing, even with a six-month time limit, he would still fail the quest.

Not only would he run out of strength and resources, but also of patience.

'There should be some clues…let's stop for a while and think…'

Based on his experience with a mana dungeon, the boss was located on the lowermost floor of the dungeon, somewhere close to the core.

However, lord dungeons had no such thing as a "core".

'Hmm…how do the monsters inside it live, then? No matter how hideous they looked, they had to eat, no? If so, then the dungeon's core must be…a storage room with lots of food!'

Judging by the pieces of rotting flesh and bones scattered throughout the dungeon pathways, the creatures inside are carnivorous.

This suggests that some of them venture out to hunt and that the WAA likely permits these hunts.

'There should be multiple exits and as long as I locate one of the exits used by the monsters to hunt, I should be able to tail a monster towards the food storage room…'

Now with a plan in mind, Shye descended the roughly made staircase and entered a random pathway located near the bottom.

Finally, after about three hours of miraculously wandering without encountering a single creature, Shye felt cold winds brushing against his skin.

'An exit!'
