CH.558 Lua’s Birthday

CH.558 Lua’s Birthday

Today, as you might have realized, is Lua’s birthday and I’m spending it with her.

Which naturally started by me bringing her breakfast to bed. And I made all … okay, most of it. Needed some help from Tinkhec.

Spoiler

Naturally most of Lua’s breakfast was blood based. Blood sausages, blood pancakes and blood porridge. Don’t ask about the porridge. It is an experimental recipe that tastes awful, unless you are a dhampir, in which case it is pretty good. Not as good as the pancakes though.

She also had some regular bread that I ‘buttered’ with blood butter. Again, don’t ask. We didn’t currently have blood based cheese, so at least the cheese was just cheese.

For drinks, I took out the carved world treant cup and filled it with my own blood. And I also filled a glass with our sparkling blood. I would say don’t ask, but it is actually quite cool.

It is slightly processed blood that basically tasted like a blood soda. Or maybe like a carbonated blood lemonade?

We make it by mixing the blood from a few different monsters, as just using dragon blood for it actually doesn’t make for the best results.

The optimal mix depends on the dhampir, but the one I’m bringing to Lua is naturally the one she likes the most.

It starts with two different dragon bloods, those coming from White Night Dragon and Dragunity Knight - Trident. Those two make up about 70% of the total fluid, with White Night Dragon being about 45% of the total, and Trident being 25%.

Then we mix in some blood from Octoberser and Lightning Tricorn. Lightning Tricorn blood gives the lemonade a nice pop and Octoberser makes sure it doesn’t go flat. Both of them make up about 10% of the total blend, 5% each.

The final ingredient, before the carbonation, is Water Dragon blood. As Water Dragon blood is very runny, it dilutes the consistency so that the lemonade isn’t quite as thick, without compromising the flavor.

Spoiler

And as I said earlier, we have different blends. Some dhampirs prefer more pop, so we and Thunder-type monster blood, generally from either Wattchimera or Thunder Dragon.

Spoiler

Some prefer lighter, more airy blends. And for that, Wind attribute monsters are the best. In fact, my favorite blend uses blood from Wind dragons. Mainly Shooting Star Dragon and Cosmic Blazar Dragon.

Spoiler

Sadly the two dragons don’t like it when I harvest their blood, so I can only really get enough for myself, so that blend isn’t offered for the dhampir students.

Also, since we are talking about blood, and I know someone will ask, Divine-Beast blood isn’t better than dragon blood. Obelisk’s blood is no good. Ra’s blood burns like it is made of pure capsaicin. Slifer’s is good, same with Uria. But again, they don’t really like being harvested, so no one really drinks their blood. So dragon blood is just better for anyone, as I really want to keep the gods playing on my team.

But enough of my rambles on blood. This is Lua’s birthday, which means presents.

For her birthday present, I teamed up with Wilma. … for the big gift. I have something smaller and completely my own for later.

But Lua’s gift from me and Wilma was a new staff for her. She doesn’t have a treant wood staff, so making her a new one out of metal is good.

It was a long one, made mostly of vampiric steel, as it was made for a dhampir. It does have an inner core made of star titanium to help with emitting magic, so it can’t quite freely be manipulated with True Blood Magic, but Lua can still play around with it. It also has a slot at the end ready to accept a magic stone. Sadly I didn’t make a stone for the staff, as Lua really should make one herself. A self made one will really just make the finished staff better.

I’ll go over the staff’s stats after Lua has made a stone for it, but even as it is now, it increases magic accuracy by 240%, power by 90% and lessens mana consumption by 35%.

The accuracy part is really freaking dumb. It almost feels like your magic attacks track your opponent and home in on them. Even spells that don’t usually do that.

The staff was also sturdy enough to be used as a melee weapon without it breaking, but that is honestly secondary.

Cailie and Janina had teamed as well. The two of them made Lua clothing out of dragon scales. Apparently Cailie obtained the scales by performing some songs to the dragons, and Janina helped her process them into clothing.

Thank god they didn’t use Janina’s scales or I would have been super jealous.

The clothing was styled after traditional mer-folk outfits, which really aren’t designed to look amazing out of water, but somehow the two made it work.

Alice got Lua a new magic flask for blood. Or maybe a second one. … technically this is like number four, but this is probably the best Lua now owns. It is temperature regulated. Has a time slowing effect. Can hold tons of liquid. Like literally. Blood weighs just a bit more than water and Lua’s new flask can hold up to 3000 liters, so you do the math.

It also looks beautiful. Definitely something Alice had to custom order from somewhere.

The Card Beasts, aka. Unika, Einar and Eline, brought Lua a pet, like they did Alice. But Lua’s wasn’t a cat, but instead a small bird. A white bird to be specific.

… Yeah. I didn’t name them. They are just small white birds. They are technically F-rank monsters, as they do have a monster core, but they are just birds.

Lua tried to tame the bird, and while she did fail multiple times, after she bit the bird and turned it into a thrall, she was able to ‘tame’ it. Sure she did technically also kill it, but it is also alive, so did she actually kill it?

SyraLua’s personal maid and Rahmana dhampir blacksmith who decided to stay on HomeBase made Lua some jewelry. Well, Rahman made it, Syra designed it. They even paid for the materials, despite the fact that they could have just used the usual Workshop stuff.

Syra is the one that knows Lua’s jewelry habits the best, so it was good that she decided to give her something like that. Now I have ideas if I want to give her something else than what I will … oh right. That is spoilers.

Ria and Agunan secured Lua a mirror. It was massive to the point where I honestly questioned how they were able to move it without breaking it. Neither of them have Storage access, so it must have been difficult.

I also didn’t expect them to give something like that, as all rooms in HomeBase already have basic vanity mirrors. And the walk-ins have floor length mirrors. Sure none of them are as large as the one Ria and Agunan got, but they are large enough.

But despite my worries, Lua seemed to really like it. It honestly almost looked like it brought tears to her eyes.

After the morning celebration on HomeBase, we headed out. Towards Sawyer city to be specific.

I had contacted Lua’s mom a bit over a week ago and told her we would be coming for a visit. And from there, we’ll head over to the village.

Agatha greeted her daughter with a big hug that honestly looked like it could crush her. Especially with Agatha’s draconic arm. But luckily Lua is way higher level than her mother, so realistically Agatha could punch her in the face and she might not even flinch.

Agatha had prepared a bracelet for her daughter, one seemingly made of the scales on her arm. She has a skill that allows her to regenerate her scales if they are ripped off or damaged. It was a skill she got during her entire arm regrowth operation, Draconic Regeneration. Honestly a skill I maybe should have gotten, but I have access to Lua and overpowered healing cards, so I never really went for a regeneration skill.

Alice put it on her wrist and we then headed to the dhampir village. To get there, Agatha rode her Luster Dragon #2, while I transformed into a dragon and Lua rode on my back.

It was no problem for us to do so right outside the city gates, as Agatha has permission to do so from Thomas, aka. Earl Sawyer. And the people of the city are used to her riding her dragon, so one more isn’t that big of a deal.

The town was waiting for us, having set up a celebration for Lua. They had some gifts for her, but I won’t go over them.

What I didn’t expect was both Agunan and Ria being here. Yes, I should have expected as much, but for some reason, I just didn’t.

We had a long celebration, lasting long into the evening. And as we were about to leave, I asked Lua if I could chat for a moment somewhere away from the people who were still having fun.

She took my arm and guided me into the forest, to a clearing not too far from the village. It was a place we were somewhat familiar with, as it has been used as the start and end point of a hunting competition between Lua and Ria.

“... So, I know I already gave you a gift, but I have something more for you.” I told her, as I took a small box out of Storage. A ring box specifically.

When it was her birthday, I gave Alice a tiara with a magic stone I made myself, but for Lua, I just made a ring. I just felt it would be better. … maybe it isn’t, maybe it is.

As I revealed the ring, I reminded Lua why an engagement ring was so important to me. Naturally it all came from my old world.

Lua listened and when I was done, she gave me her left hand and I slid the ring onto her ring finger.

She then embraced me before we kissed for what felt like a long time, but at the same time, not long enough.

Lua then asked if we could spend the night there, and I didn’t have any reasons to refuse. So I set up a few trap cards that would stop any monsters from attacking us, before I brought a bed out of Storage and set up a transparent barrier around us, so if it rains, we will stay dry.

Then … well, we had private time. I won’t go into it.

As we were unwinding from it, Lua told to me about her dreams. One dream specifically. The dream she has had multiple times since we promised our lives to each other.

She sees it from time to time. At first she thought it was some sort of prophetic dream, and while it might be, every time it is slightly different.

Mainly, over time, the person who wakes her up and ‘helps’ her dress changes. From Vampire Lady to Vampire Grace to one of the Dragonmaids to Syra.

Spoiler

Also the students and the monster teacher changes between the dreams. As well as the monster I ride as I return to HomeBase, and the person who rides back with me. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

“... So, what is your favorite monster you’ve seen me ride to HomeBase?” I had to ask.

“... I don’t know. I think it might have been a dragon with wings that look like stained glass.” Lua answered.

“Stained glass?” I pondered. “So Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon?” I asked, as I brought out the card and showed her.

Spoiler

“... No? It had a dark body, and bones around it, I think. And the these wings are like rainbow glass. I meant like those stained glass panes you see in churches depicting epic tales.”

“Oh! Dark Requiem! At l think Dark Requiem has wings like that, a dark body and bone thingies. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, so I’m not 100% sure.”

Spoiler

“You’ll get it eventually.” Lua said, as she snuggled close to me.

“Yeah. And when I do, I’ll show him to you.”

“I know you will.” Lua said.

It didn’t take us long to fall asleep, despite the fact that I knew we were being watched. I could smell both Agunan and Ria in the forest watching over us.

The two of them really should chill out. We’ll be fine camping in the open without bodyguards.
