Chapter 445 The Other Side
"Kiro Percival Waynworth, what's this? What's going on?" She was looking at him now.
"Huh? Why would I know?"
"Because you look guilty as hell right now?" She said in an accusatory tone.
Kiro knew she wouldn't just let it go without so much as an explanation. He just didn't know what to tell her and what to leave out. He went to sit down with his food.
"So this started with papi..."
"Huh? Eldric?" She was confused since his grandfather disappeared a very long time ago. "He's the one who owned the mine? When I get my hands on your father..."
"Will you let me speak?" He asked and she went quiet.
He told her about the chain he left him and how it had a lot of information about the corruption in their world, including the slave mine. He convenient left out the part about the underground ring and concentrated one the slave mine.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"So what you're saying is, the Waynworth men have been trying to take down the government? And he didn't tell me any of this?" She couldn't even panic well, with Rian in her arms fast asleep.
"You'd have tried to stop him."
"Damn right I would've. Look at him now, in trouble with the whole damn country! Ki, what will happen if they decided to come for his family?" Her concerns were valid, now that he was painted as a criminal there was no stopping them from making his family seem involved in all of this mess.
"That's not going to happen." Kiro said confidently.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah. Dad is smart, they only caught him and Isla's father. Wilfred is still at large, with Mister Silva there, I'm sure dean Whitaker and James were there too. If they weren't caught, that means they got away."
Freya looked at her son like he was the biggest idiot in Sanctauri, "so?"
"So, along with the slaves, they got away. Don't you get it mum? They have proof of everything. I asked Mister Scott to help them and I'm sure there's video footage too. With the way things are going, the government officials are only shooting themselves in the foot."
Freya's expression changed to one of surprise. She never took Kiro or even her own husband to be cunning, smart yes but to use intelligence the way they were was quite something. It was scary if anything.
"So there's no point panicking?"
"I mean, there is. They were arrested after all and evidence leads to them now, they must be under interrogation right now. Who knows in what way are they trying to extract the information." He shrugged.
"Torture?" She almost looked frantic.
"Y-yes." Kiro smiled awkwardly, "but don't worry about dad, he's strong and they won't have to wait that long. Wilfred is sure to be working on it."
Freya took out her phone. To hell with waiting around for news, she was going to call Wilfred herself and find out what he was planning to get her husband safe at home. She was naturally losing it, she couldn't imagine her life without him.
Wilfred let the phone ring out. He couldn't answer it, he was sure that Freya would give him an earful. He already hated himself for leaving him there. Kiro wanting to appease his mother called him on his own phone.
"Young master Kiro." He answered instantly. "I'm so—"
"Mum wants to talk to you, I'll give her the phone."
Wilfred felt a bullet piercing through his old heart. This kind of betrayal was nothing he'd ever experienced before.
"Why won't you answer my calls? Anyway, Ki told me everything. I'm sure you've seen the news, what are you doing to free my husband."
Wilfred took a sigh of relief, he didn't want to be the one to tell her everything about what they went to do up there. Even though there was a little bit of betrayal, he felt a little appeased that he wouldn't be the one to explain all that.
"Rest assured madam, everything is already in motion."
"But what? I really want to know." She demanded, as the wife, he understood her sense of urgency.
Kiro gestured for his mum to give him the phone and she surprisingly obliged. He put it on speaker.
"You're on speaker now Wilfred. Do you know where they're holding them? What can I do to help?"
"Please focus on the game, we've got this covered. Although we don't know where they're held. I was thinking of releasing the tapes and hope they would let him go."
Kiro shook his head, while it was a good plan it was a risky plan. They could just murder them in those cells and claim the footage was doctored, that was a stretch but a government was really good at swinging conspiracies that should be believed by the masses.
"I'll add someone else on the call, I think I might have an idea." He punched a number and it connected immediately. "Sir Scott, I hope this call finds you well."
"Ah, our benefactor, how are you Mister Waynworth?"
"We would be good if it weren't for the news."
"What's in the news?"
Kiro regretted saying anything because the man was the definition of a recluse. He didn't like being around people, naturally he didn't like keeping up with them. He should've probably guessed that he wasn't the type to watch the news.
"Nevermind that, using the gear you've given to my dad, would you be able to track them?"
"Of course of course. I can do better, if they have the contact lenses I gave them I can give you the live feed of whatever they're seeing."
Kiro's grin widened. The inventions of this man were just unparalleled and out of this world. They waited as he clicked away.
"Ohh that's not good." Jon Scott said, giving him access to the live feed.
Sekani was hung upside down by his legs dripping blood, while Jesús sat at the chair of the table with blood all over his face and clothes.
