Chapter 209 - SUSPECTING JACK
Kris stopped kissing Kevin's palms upon hearing his lover's unexpected statement. He carefully placed Kevin's hands on his lap as he kept frowning at his lover.
"You... you have been researching on AZURE? But why did you do that? And why didn't you tell me about that before?"
Kris was certain that not even once Kevin told him about that matter, so he was beyond surprised right now.
The culprit, who just surprised him with his unexpected confession, could only lower his gaze to avoid Kris's questioning gaze.
"I was just worried," the scientist replied sheepishly "I was just worried if someone managed to snatch AZURE away from us. I wanted to know the probability for people to get the information from AZURE, and it turned out that I only needed around 3 weeks to get the information from him even when he was in his inactive mode."
Kris was startled. Not even once did he see Kevin researching AZURE, but it turned out his scientist lover secretly researched on AZURE in the past three weeks. And three weeks was relatively a short time, and it was indeed dangerous if they couldn't find AZURE in three weeks.
"You only need 3 weeks because you are a true genius, Kevin. You are the professor's son, so you can do that kind of thing in a short time. Other scientists probably will need more time, or they even can't do that at all until the end," Kris tried to be positive as he wanted to comfort his lover, as well as comforted himself.
He was also worried, but he needed to stay calm for Kevin's sake. If both of them were panicked, then they wouldn't be able to think straight. Instead of finding the small robot, they probably would face another problem if they couldn't think with a calm mind.
Kris expected that his lover would agree with his opinion, but to his surprise, Kevin immediately shook his head firmly.
"Please don't say something like that, Kris. My parents are indeed the two geniuses, but I disagree that my ability comes from them solely. It's not related to genetic, Kris. I've been working hard to reach my current position, and it's not because of my parents."
Kris didn't expect that kind of response from his lover, but then he remembered something important.
"Did I offend you, Kev? Did I remind you of the moment when Mrs. Hasler slandered you by saying that you were arrogant just because you are the Beischels' son? Oh, gosh! I didn't mean to offend you, Kevin! I'm so sorry!"
Kris looked panicked as he started kissing his lover's palms again. The hands were no longer cold, and he could heave a sigh of relief.
The next second, he could hear Kevin chuckle, and he looked up at his lover again.
"I'm not angry with you, Kris. I just don't like it when people kept connecting me with my parents. They are no longer in the world, and they didn't even support me directly when I was fighting for my career. That's why I don't like it when people always saw me as the Beischels' son."
Kevin said that he wasn't angry at him, but Kris still felt guilty because of his words earlier.
"Stop showing me that face, Kris," Kevin scolded his lover when the said lover didn't want to change his expression. "We better discuss the matter about AZURE again. Are you suspecting someone? You said that no one besides us knows about AZURE, right? So, how come some people target AZURE?"
That was something that made him curious too, so Kris couldn't immediately answer his lover's question.
When he found out that AZURE was the only missing object in the robbery incident, he immediately worked his brain to find who the real culprit was. Other people wouldn't know about AZURE's existence, so how could people target the little robot?
Kris was puzzled, but then his mind gave him an idea that probably would be rejected by Kevin.
"I'm suspecting Jack."
That one-sentence answer came out of Kris's thick lips, and Kevin raised his brows upon hearing the answer.
"Jack? You are suspecting Jack? But why? Jack has been with us for quite a long time, and he had never done anything bad. He was even willing to apologize to Julia and even willing to get killed by her, so how come you suspect him, Kris?"
"Jack and Blue are the only ones who know about AZURE asides from us. It's impossible if Blue is the one who betrays us, so there's only one possibility. I suspect that Jack is the one who told someone about AZURE."
Kevin, instead of feeling convinced upon hearing his lover's explanation, could only shake his head in disbelief. "I thought you no longer had a grudge on Jack after he confessed his feeling to you, Kris."
Kevin gave his lover a flat look, and Kris widened his eyes when he heard the words.
"It's not like I'm still having a grudge on him, Kevin! I don't have any personal grudge on him, but it's just that he used to be a villain, and it's possible for him to choose the wrong path again, right?"
Kevin looked helpless when he saw his lover kept being stubborn. "That's possible, but I don't think Jack would do something like that," he voiced out his opinion. "Moreover, Jack didn't know the real secret of AZURE, right? He only knew that AZURE is the one who assisted me during the antidote injection, but he knew nothing about AZURE asides from that."
Kevin once again sounded reasonable, and Kris fell silent as he contemplated his lover's opinion.
"You might be right, but I won't let my guard down when I'm around Jack from now on. I will keep an eye on him."
Again, Kevin could only shake his head at his lover's stubbornness. "You don't plan to fight with him again, do you?" He expected the worst when he asked the question.
"I won't fight with him," Kris replied with a smile. "Maybe I will just keep glaring at him.. That's all."
