Chapter 97: Ye Chen Wanted
Chapter 97: Ye Chen Wanted
“Ye Chen,” Xiao Qingxue muttered through clenched teeth, watching in the surveillance footage as ‘Ye Chen’ murdered her father.
“Where did you get this surveillance video?” she asked Chen Luo with suspicion.
The cameras in her house had been destroyed, and all the footage erased, beyond recovery even by computer experts. Chen Luo had been responsible for damaging the surveillance in Xiao Yongqiang’s villa, as leaving such clear evidence could have raised doubts about its authenticity.
“I had placed a surveillance camera in Xiao Yongqiang’s house. Knowing he was plotting against me, I needed to keep an eye on him for my safety,” Chen Luo explained.
Xiao Qingxue believed Chen Luo’s explanation. Further investigating, she verified that Ye Chen had indeed visited her father, and that her father died shortly after Ye Chen’s departure.
All evidence pointed to Ye Chen. It was clear her father had been killed by Ye Chen, making Ye Chen the enemy who murdered her father.
“Ye Chen really has no conscience. Xiao Yongqiang helped him so much, and yet, just because he couldn’t get your father to join him against the Luo and Li families, he killed Xiao Yongqiang,” Chen Luo said, intentionally suggesting to Xiao Qingxue that Ye Chen had a motive to murder.
Chen Luo wasn’t entirely deceiving Xiao Qingxue. He had indeed installed surveillance devices in Xiao Yongqiang’s home and was fully aware of the conversation between Ye Chen and Xiao Yongqiang.
Chen Luo even played some of the conversations between Ye Chen and Xiao Yongqiang for Xiao Qingxue to hear.
“If you still have doubts, you can take this surveillance video to an expert for analysis, to check for any signs of tampering.”“I trust you,” Xiao Qingxue said, looking at Chen Luo. Despite everything, she still held some level of trust in him.
“I need a copy of this surveillance video.”
This was crucial evidence of Ye Chen murdering her father, a key to dealing with Ye Chen.
“Of course, there’s no problem. After all, you’ve agreed to my conditions.”
Previously, Chen Luo had made Xiao Qingxue promise to comply with his demands for a week, unable to refuse any of his requests. Xiao Qingxue had a hunch about what Chen Luo might do but agreed anyway, hoping he wouldn’t be too extreme in his actions.
After copying the video, Xiao Qingxue left first, needing to fulfill Chen Luo’s demands later.
“My dear, you really are wicked.”
Zhao Yingxuan playfully wrapped around Chen Luo as soon as Xiao Qingxue left. Indeed, Chen Luo was cunning. Although he didn’t directly kill Xiao Yongqiang, he was the mastermind behind it. Playing such games after causing her father’s death, Chen Luo was growing more evil.
However, as a villain, weren’t these actions somewhat expected?
“How do you think Xiao Qingxue will retaliate?”
“She’ll probably hand the evidence over to the police,” Chen Luo speculated.
His guess was accurate. Xiao Qingxue did indeed present the evidence to the police.
“Thank you, President Xiao, for the information. We will now proceed to apprehend the suspect.”
Once the police verified the authenticity of the evidence provided by Xiao Qingxue, they firmly marked Ye Chen as the prime suspect in the murder.
“Is it possible to shoot him when he’s caught?”
“I can’t answer that, President Xiao. Sentencing is a matter for the courts,” the Director replied, shaking his head at Xiao Qingxue. Their job was to gather evidence of the crime and bring the criminal to justice. Sentencing was the court’s job.
“He’s suspected of more than one murder, including your father’s bodyguard. If it’s proven he committed these crimes, the likelihood of a death sentence is high.”
“I see,” Xiao Qingxue nodded, her expression somber.
Ye Chen’s fate, once caught, would depend on the legal prowess of the Yongqiang Group’s lawyers. Regardless, Xiao Qingxue was determined to see Ye Chen receive the death penalty.
With Ye Chen now a prime suspect, the well-informed Wang family soon heard the news. Wang Hong urgently sought out Ye Chen.
“Ye Chen, tell me, did you kill Xiao Yongqiang?” Wang Hong asked earnestly.
“I killed Xiao Yongqiang?” Ye Chen initially thought Wang Hong was joking, but the seriousness of his expression suggested otherwise.
“I didn’t kill Xiao Yongqiang. Why do you ask? Has something happened to him?” Ye Chen’s brow furrowed in concern, sensing there must be a significant reason behind Wang Hong’s inquiry. Could it be that Xiao Yongqiang was dead?
“Xiao Yongqiang has been murdered, and the police have evidence pointing to you as the suspect. They’re coming to arrest you. Tell me the truth, did you do it?”
“Of course not.” Ye Chen was slightly irritated, feeling as if Wang Hong’s repeated questioning implied he didn’t trust him.
“Someone is definitely framing me.”
Ye Chen hadn’t foreseen Xiao Yongqiang’s death. But he was clear that he wasn’t the killer; someone had to be setting him up.
“But who could it be?”
Ye Chen suspected three parties. Firstly, Chen Luo, and the other two were the Luo and Li families. They also seemed likely candidates to frame him. However, Ye Chen’s intuition told him that Chen Luo was the most suspicious.
“The situation seems quite complicated.”
Wang Hong wore a worried expression. Even if someone was plotting against Ye Chen, they lacked the evidence to prove it.
“For now, your only option is to run,” Wang Hong said seriously to Ye Chen.
The Luo and Li families would surely take this opportunity to kick him while he was down. If he were captured, it would be disastrous. Hearing Wang Hong suggest fleeing, Ye Chen’s expression soured. Wasn’t this turning him into a fugitive?
“I understand,” Ye Chen conceded.
He realized there was no other choice but to run. As Wang Hong had just mentioned, there was already evidence labeling him as the murderer. If he was being framed, then the orchestrator would have prepared thoroughly.
“Don’t worry, I’ll do everything I can to investigate and prove your innocence,” Wang Hong reassured Ye Chen. “Actually, there’s one more option, but it depends on whether you’re willing to pursue it.”
“What is it?” Ye Chen asked immediately.
“Seek help from the Li family. With the support of both the Li and Wang families, even if you’re arrested, we can ensure your safety.”
“Are you joking? The Li family are my enemies right now.”
Ye Chen found it ludicrous when Wang Hong mentioned getting help from the Li family. The Li family were out to kill him; how could they possibly help him?
“If you gain Li Ting’s forgiveness, perhaps even marrying her or joining the Li family, then they won’t be your enemies anymore. Instead, they could become your allies.”
Wang Hong had suggested this to Ye Chen before. At that time, Ye Chen had categorically refused without any hesitation. But this time, considering the gravity of the situation, Wang Hong felt that this was the best solution.
The Wang family might not have the means to prove Ye Chen’s innocence. Wang Hong also believed that Ye Chen wasn’t the one who killed Xiao Yongqiang. However, given the well-orchestrated scheme against him, it was clear that someone was prepared and plotting.
“You need to think about it yourself. For now, I’ll have someone take you to a safe place.”
Wang Hong called the housekeeper to escort Ye Chen away, having already arranged a secure hideout where Ye Chen could temporarily stay out of sight.
Ye Chen looked frustrated. The leader of the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group, known as the Mercenary King and the feared God of War on the battlefield, was now in such a pitiable state.
“It must be you framing me, Chen Luo. Xiao Yongqiang’s death has your name written all over it.”
The Luo and Li families had no significant conflict with Xiao Yongqiang. Only Chen Luo had a deep-seated vendetta against Xiao Yongqiang. After all, Chen Luo had dishonored Xiao Yongqiang, who had always wanted to kill Chen Luo. It wouldn’t be surprising if Chen Luo wanted to eliminate Xiao Yongqiang.
Chen Luo must be the real murderer behind Xiao Yongqiang’s death.
