Vampire Nightlife

Chapter 45 The Party Happens Now

It was the night of the party and it was finally time to show himself in the world of the Vampires. Something that already happened, but this time, in a crowd full of important people with him being introduced.

Lukas was dressed sharply in a dark navy blue suit that accentuated his features well. His hair was arranged in a way that he looked like he just casually combed it, looking effortless handsome.

He and Chaerin were ready–Lily was going to pick them up.

"Everything's ready? You look a little nervous." Chaerin said.

"Me? Nervous? Never." Lukas laughed and hugged her close. He looked at her up and down and grinned. "I'm just amazed that I'm able to go with you to this event. You were hesitant earlier."

"Anything for you." Chaerin said and then rubbed the back of her neck. "Well… it's not my thing, but I know that this is important to you. So I'm gonna come with you."

Not to mention that Chaerin didn't like the idea of Lily having Lukas all for herself. Even though she had said it was fine, she was actually still uncomfortable with the idea and was just trying her best for what Lukas said about polyamory.

"I see. Well you look really good and I'm incredibly lucky." Lukas complimented his girlfriend.

"You're only lucky because I look good?" Chaerin raised a brow. For someone who could change her appearance on the fly, that wasn't exactly the best compliment.

"No. Of course not." Lukas shook his head then he squeezed her shoulders. "I'm incredibly lucky with how kind and caring you are."

"That's more like it." Chaerin giggled and kissed her cheek. "Now let's go, I think I heard Lily's here."

"You did?" Lukas blinked.

"Yeah." Chaerin nodded and pulled him towards the door.

It was fair to say that Chaerin's powers expanded more than just simple physical appearance changing… which was impressive.

If he had chosen the ability to change appearances as his first skill–would he have also been able to manipulate to such a degree? To this extent, he really was reminded of something more than a Vampire but a god.

The idea of Loki the trickster god came to his mind.

Not that he could actually say anything about that–it seemed like the Vampires themselves had their own deities and if he wanted to blend in then he needed to memorize them.

But that was a later problem for him.

For now it was time for him to enjoy the night.

He linked arms with Chaerin and went for the door.

"Is your sister gonna come around?"

"Yeah, the bar's being asked to sponsor the event, offering the blood drinks and everything alongside VitaBlood. But she's gonna blend in well unlike me."

"I don't get why. You're both sisters. Surely someone should recognize you and also her. Why would they bug you and not her?" Lukas vaguely recalled Chelsea being recognized by Lily's father so that wasn't exactly true.

"She… she's just… I don't know. Let's not talk about it." Chaerin and Lukas descended down the stairs and reached the outside of the apartment and saw a dark limousine waiting for them.

At the door was none other than Lily.

For a moment, Lukas lost his thoughts on the matter that they were discussing.

Lily was dressed like an angel, bathed in a beautiful pure white dress as pristine and clean as she could be, Chaerin looked like her opposite in the black dress that called and grabbed attention.

He didn't mean to compare them, but both looked good in their own styles.

"Lukas!" Lily beamed at their appearance and ran over to meet them.

She threw her arms around him and somewhat pushed Chaerin away as she quickly kissed his lips and smiled innocently.

Chaerin threw daggers her way but didn't exactly say anything. She was a lot used to people acting innocent but not exactly being so. If anything, she was a lot worried about Lukas not noticing it at all underneath the facade.

"Ahem." Chaerin finally said.

"Oops, we're going to be late. But I'm so glad that you missed me." Lukas chuckled as he kissed Lily's forehead. "Thank you for picking us up."

"No problem. Shall we go now?" Lily opened the car door.

The three of them boarded the limousine and then headed to the venue. Lukas watched as they arrived at an ancient looking gothic mansion and blinked. Normally, this would seem like a theme but he knew that this belonged to someone and it was taken seriously.

But who?

"Is this…?" Lukas had a feeling.

"Ah, this belongs to the Weisse family." Lily explained.

"Oh."

"The Overlords' descendants would host the anniversary in honor of our freedom." Chaerin added.

Lukas sighed inwardly. He couldn't help but remember the grimoire and his words with Serena. He knew that this was something that Chaerin didn't want, but at the same time, he couldn't help but consider it.

Work was good and amazing with Lily at his side, but it didn't feel enough.

At least if he wanted to be able to truly live the life that he wanted. There was nothing wrong with a little ambition right? Both for himself and for the people in his life.

It was such a strange thing to think about, but high risks meant high rewards in this scenario. Of course, he had been cautious but where did that lead him?

Nothing much, right?

"We're here. Shall we?" Lily squeezed Lukas' hand as Chaerin looked at him curiously.

Lukas looked at the two beautiful women by his side and nodded. The car door was opened for them as they descended into the red carpet. If there was anything that humans and Vampires had in common, it was at least their sense of style.

The cameras, shows and lights all came down at the same time.

Lukas couldn't help but notice the looks that everyone gave him. Was it that strange for someone like him to come around with more than one woman? Come on, they were Vampires!

…is what Lukas wanted to think, but he knew that it was probably more because he was a no name.

And hence again why he was thinking about Serena's offer.

For sure, he could already imagine her smug face–Lukas blinked as he entered the mansion and looked up the staircase. For some reason, the person in question was right up there and all his annoyance faded away.

Lukas couldn't help it.

She was beautiful and took his breath away. Dressed in a flowing gown laden with soft glitters like sparkling stars, Serena Weisse descended down the stairs as if waiting for the exact moment that he'd come.

Which was probably his imagination, but as she descended with a blonde Vampire donning a maid costume, Lukas wanted to believe for a moment that it was for him.

Lukas cleared his throat and shifted his gaze away.

That was an incredibly idiotic way of thinking, but unbeknownst to him, his guess was actually right.

Not only was Serena standing and posing for the guests to see her ethereal presence–she had been waiting for him. For reasons that even she couldn't exactly understand herself.

Tonight was gonna be the night for them.
