Chapter 88

Chapter 88 - Phantom Sage

Ye Hao felt a surge of anger towards Xiao Ming.

Spiritual confrontation?

Ye Hao didn't even have a clue what that meant.

“Brother Ye, hold on, I'll assist you.” Xiao Ming said, producing a piece of golden rune paper in his hand. As he chanted, the rune paper lifted into the air, transforming into a massive set of markings that descended upon the woman in white.

The woman in white let out a cold huff.

Her voice became a formidable sound wave, causing the descending markings to vanish into thin air.

Xiao Ming was dumbfounded by the sight.

That was the Spectral Ward his master had given him!

“Brother Ye, what's happening?”

When Ye Hao didn't reply, Xiao Ming sensed trouble. He quickly drew the Golden Sword from his waist. With a chant, the sword became a streak of golden light lunging at the woman in white.

But as the Golden Sword neared her, the woman in white effortlessly caught it between two fingers.

Xiao Ming's complexion turned ghostly white.

He had never known of a ghost bold enough to touch the Golden Sword, much less pinch it between two fingers.

Could this woman in white be the Ghost King?

With that thought, Xiao Ming took off running.

Ye Hao internally cursed, “What am I supposed to do if you run away?”

Xiao Ming didn't look back, fleeing the scene. The woman in white paid him no mind and instead turned her serene gaze to Ye Hao, asking calmly, “You've interrupted my meditation. How do you propose I punish you?”

Ye Hao, finding his voice again, stammered, “I simply wished to behold your grace.”

“And your first impulse was to press down on my shoulder blade? Why is that?”

“I was curious about the extent of your cultivation.”

“And have you satisfied your curiosity?”

“Your cultivation is unparalleled; I am no match for you.”

“Do you expect me to believe such flattery?”

“Why would I dare deceive you?”

“Well, I might just extract your heart to verify if you've been deceitful.” The woman in white pointed at Ye Hao's chest as she spoke.

“Please don't.”

“Are you scared?” she asked, her tone still indifferent.

“I just don't wish to cause you harm.”

“Do you truly possess the power to harm me?” the woman in white challenged, her nails piercing Ye Hao's flesh. But in an instant, she recoiled, her eyes wide with disbelief as she stared at Ye Hao.

Her delicate hand was dissolving before our very eyes, and despite her desperate efforts to contain it, it was to no avail.

“Who exactly are you?” she asked Ye Hao, her voice laced with shock.

Given her level of cultivation, there were few in this world who could injure her. Yet, she had not anticipated being unable to withstand even Ye Hao's blood.

“Return,” commanded Ye Hao in a stern voice.

At his words, over a dozen drops of blood withdrew from the woman's body and flowed back into Ye Hao's wounds. With the blood reclaimed, her injuries ceased at once.

”Why would you save me?” she inquired, as she channeled the arcane method and her arm began to regenerate.

“Senior, I don't believe you are inherently cruel,” Ye Hao replied gently.

“But I nearly ripped out your heart.”

“That was because I provoked you,” Ye Hao responded, his tone respectful.

Truth be told, Ye Hao had acted out of necessity. Divine Blood within him was incapable of destroying the young woman swiftly, yet she could have easily ended his life in a heartbeat. Thus, Ye Hao had prudently retracted the Divine Blood.

The woman in white regarded Ye Hao with a complex look. “What's the deal with your blood?”

“In my body, there is a drop of Divine Blood.”

“Divine Blood?” she murmured, shaking her head slightly. “The gods have long since vanished from this world. How could you possess Divine Blood?”

“Well, I'm not entirely sure if it's Divine Blood,” Ye Hao admitted, scratching his head.

“Would you share your story with me?”

Ye Hao proceeded to give her a simplified account of his past experiences, not daring to withhold the information. However, he altered the conclusion slightly.

“The deity told me that when the time is right, he would return to see me,” Ye Hao stated with gravity.

In reality, Ye Hao was aware that the deity held little regard for him. But as fate would have it, their encounter led to him receiving a drop of Divine Blood.

“Could the immortal capable of tearing through space truly be an Almighty?” the woman in white asked with uncertainty.

Ye Hao remained silent.

“I am the Phantom Sage,” the woman in white introduced herself.

“Phantom Sage?”

“Yes, even phantoms can ascend to immortality,” she explained gently.

“What differentiates a Phantom Sage from an immortal?”

“Immortals are lofty beings, gazing down upon all life. To be precise, I have not yet transcended,” the woman in white clarified earnestly. “Earth Immortals have not transcended either. They cannot truly be considered genuine immortals.”

At that moment, Ye Hao realized just how formidable the woman in white before him was.

A Phantom Sage!

She had achieved true enlightenment!

And Xiao Ming had sought to subdue her.

Ye Hao was convinced that not even the entirety of the Keepers of Forbidden Lore could best the woman in white.

“Senior, may I inquire about your name?”

“Su Xiaoyu.”

“Senior, what brings you to this place?”

“I practiced my cultivation here five hundred years ago. I could never have imagined that, after so much time, everything from those days would have vanished.”

“Time's passage is unstoppable by anyone.”

“Indeed,” Su Xiaoyu agreed, nodding before her gaze drifted off into the distance.

After a while, she handed Ye Hao a bag woven from golden threads.

“Meeting is destiny; this is for you.”

Ye Hao accepted the bag and examined it. “What's this?”

“A Cosmos Bag.”

“Cosmos Bag?” A thrill of elation crossed Ye Hao's face upon hearing this.

From the black dragon's memories, he was well aware of the Cosmos Bag—a coveted immortal treasure.

“The Cosmos Bag contains spirit stones and panaceas, with detailed instructions on the stone tablet,” Su Xiaoyu mentioned before quietly departing.

Spirit stones? Panaceas?

Ye Hao was overcome with excitement, his body quivering.

Resources were precisely what Ye Hao needed most at the moment!

With these resources, he could ascend to greater heights in his cultivation in a remarkably short time.

Ye Hao had always considered his cultivation to be quite advanced.

But today, in the presence of the woman in white, he realized just how insignificant his powers were.

The woman clad in white only required a single look to render him completely immobile.

Once Ye Hao had secured the Cosmos Bag, he made his way outside. It wasn't long before he encountered Xiao Ming, who was pacing restlessly around a stone table.

”Xiao Ming.”

“Who's there?” Xiao Ming tensed up.

Upon recognizing Ye Hao, Xiao Ming involuntarily retreated a couple of steps.

“Are you a human or a ghost?”
