Chapter 187 Upcoming Turbulence.
Chapter 187 Upcoming Turbulence.
Aleron and Ruan arrived at the spectator's hall, right beside a table that seemed to be theirs as it had a number plate atop it.
284.
It was his current Warlord rank. Aleron and Ruan's avatar sat at the table while a hologram screen lit up on it, displaying Enorin and others who sat on the mountain peak in meditation.
Two minutes left until the Event starts.
'Master, the tables are going higher and higher in height, with that furthest table being 10 feet above the ground,' Ruan looked at the hall further.
Their table was at the very least, with three other tables in their row with several meters of distance between each.
'Yeah, it seems to be based on ranking. Most of the tables are empty, though.' Aleron realized that this Event wasn't worth watching for most of the Warlords.
…
The event began as all participants disappeared from their respective mountain peaks and arrived randomly in a huge Labyrinth.
For the starter, each group directly encountered a group of Primeval-rank monsters after they moved from one cavern to another.
Many groups didn't waste much energy on them, using tricks and efficiency to destroy the group.
In Aleron's group, Fang used his Chaotic Formation, using very little energy to make the monsters fight each other and destroy themselves.
The countdown was 5 hours, which meant that the Event would be finished after that. Those who reached the center of the labyrinth before the countdown would be considered winners and ranked in the order they reached the center.
After watching for an hour, Aleron realized that this Labyrinth Event wasn't much of a challenge for Enorin and others.
They performed vastly superior to others from what he observed in the screens at other tables.
Moreover, only his team had all subordinates at Ascension rank! The other groups actually had one in rare cases while the rest of them were Primeval-rank.
'This is going to be too easy, it seems,' Ruan chuckled.
'Yep. This Event's participant pool is 200th to 284th rank, after all.'
After an hour, many of the Warlords had already left.
Aleron didn't want to leave even though it was going smooth sailing for the group. He wanted to watch it and see if something happened in this hall.
From the memories of that Graystar Warlord's subordinate, the Warlord actually held a meeting together somehow.
He didn't know how, but this spectator's hall seemed to be a good place where all Warlords could gather together despite the vast distances between them. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Soon, another hour passed by. The event was about to end for him because Enorin and others were near the Labyrinth's center.
They had encountered other groups, but they easily won against them and smoothly proceeded ahead in the labyrinth.
No traps or troubles could stop them.
…
[Congratulations, Your group is the first one to reach the end of the Labyrinth.]
[You have been awarded 1000 Warlord points and Ability points for taking 1st rank.]
[You have been awarded 10 treasure chests.]
[You have been awarded an extra 500 Warlord points and Ability points for exceptional performance in the event.]
"Great job, everyone." "It was too easy master," Fang wryly smiled.
"True. This wasn't much of a challenge for us. We were worried about nothing," Riki laughed.
"Well, the next event is about to start after two days," Aleron said as he looked at his Warlord status.
"There are two more events for Subordinate-only coming soon. The first one after two days and the second one after four days. Our Warlord ranking reached 259th rank, but that's not much. We have to grind until we reach the top 100."
After Aleron talked with others for a bit, everyone scattered away to train on their own and spend time while Aleron took Elysia to Hell.
"You knew it wouldn't be hard for me to take first rank, but you still offered yourself for the Warlord event," Aleron snorted.
Elysia playfully chuckled, "Well, I wanted to see what would you do and I am not disappointed. I'm more sure of my decision to suck up to you instead of fighting you."
"But…" Elysia's expression turned somber. "You'll encounter trouble soon. There's a Warlord Alliance of Warlords ranking between 50th to 100th rank. They know planet Ardentia's location and I've been ignoring an annoying guy's contact."
Aleron raised his eyebrows. "Who?"
"Davin Warmair," Elysia's eyes coldly glinted. "He wanted me for my Bloodline and body so he can have fun in exchange for helping me destroy you, but that fool's dreaming if he thinks I would give up my chastity and pride like that."
"Anyway, the last message I got was just after this Event. He knows I've lost and a Warlord has been decided for this planet through the Event that we just finished."
"He…is going to attack this planet," Elysia waved his hand and showed a screen that showed Davin's face and his voice as he declared he was going to attack and take her with him by force.
Aleron watched the video message and after it finished, a ferocious smile formed on his face, "Well, well…It seems we are going to our first war with another Warlord."
"He is not alone," Elysia shook her head. "There are fifteen other Warlords with him and they are eager to recruit more, but as the head of this alliance, this Davin feels as if he is a big shot."
Elysia snorted and continued, "That piece of trash doesn't know his worth and let me tell you, Aleron, that he is even worse than Demon Lord Narazar."
Aleron fell into thought for a few seconds before he snapped his finger, causing him and Elysia to vanish from the Hell's region as they arrived back at the royal palace's terrace.
"Change of plans," Aleron sat on his Arcana Throne and looked at Elysia, "We are going to prepare for their attack, and your punishment will be delayed until I completely destroy that Warlord Alliance."
"Opportunistic bastard," Elysia grinned. "Fine. Use me as your bait to rattle Davin and his alliance. He will make irrational decisions for me, I'm sure."
"Why?" Aleron curiously asked. "Is it really because of your Bloodline only?"
"Of course," Elysia rolled her eyes. "My Bloodline is precious. Right now, it's only in Divine rank, but that's not its highest rank. I was born with this Divine-rank Bloodline, but its true rank is higher. It's suppressed right now since I don't want my family to find me, which they can do through the Bloodline."
"I see. Well, thank you for the heads up about Davin, and yes, I want to use you as bait," Aleron looked up at the sky. "For starters, I want to create some satellites that can observe and sense things from afar."
"Good," Elysia nodded. "They will come through big spaceships, right from a wormhole that would open a bit away from the planet. If you can destroy them in outer space, that's best."
"That's the plan," Aleron narrowed his eyes. "I'm not going to let them land on my planet."
Elysia grinned, "Show them your crazy power. It's a war of Warlords, so you can freely attack the enemy Warlords and kill them, but don't hurt anyone at Primeval rank or below with deliberate intentions. Doing so would reduce your Warlord points and Ability points, but if they die accidentally during the fight, it's fine."
"Got it," Aleron nodded. "Well, you are free to move again, so go. I'm going to prepare satellites and some defensive measures in case they attack the planet."
…
Aleron finished creating magi-tech satellites and even gave them defensive and offensive features. He built something like a Magilore battery for the satellites, which could recharge with Magic Stones. Higher-graded Magic Stones would charge it faster.
The benefit of using this Magilore Battery he created instead of directly using Magic Stones was the difference in efficiency and power. The energy from his battery empowered the satellites's defensive and offensive abilities more than Magic Stones.
Once he was done, he finally began opening the Treasure Chests he got from the reward.
He opened the first one and it spewed out a mystical green root with blood-red patterns on it.
[Viris Blood Root]
_Rank: Ascension-rank.
Yorin was in meditation to comprehend his first Concept. He didn't have a Symbios Gear or anything, but he already had a vision of what kind of Concept he wanted.
_Effect: Permanently increase Health and Strength stats for Ascension-rank powerhouses.
_Note: If this is processed by a proficient alchemist into a pill or a portion, its effect can increase in potency.
Aleron's eyes lit up. He quickly opened the remaining nine treasure chests and got a bunch of resources at Ascension rank.
'Yorin can practice and learn. Even if he wastes a few Ascension-rank resources, it's fine as long as he learns how to process them into pills or potions,' Aleron grinned.
However, he suddenly remembered that Yorin had paused his production of pills after he had made enough for the gang to reach the peak of primeval rank.
Yorin was in meditation to comprehend his first Concept. He didn't have a Symbios Gear or anything, but he already had a vision of what kind of Concept he wanted.
'Good. He needs to break through to Ascension-rank if he wants to concoct Ascension-rank pills with ease,' Aleron nodded.
The power and potency of these Ascension-rank resources were nothing to scoff at. To handle them, one required better control of Magilore and a higher capacity of Ascension rank.
With nothing else to do, Aleron stored the resources as he didn't want to use them raw.
…
Four days passed in the blink of an eye.
The next two Warlord Events also went well as Aleron's group acquired first rank in both.
Three days later, his own Warlord Event was about to start where he would have to participate himself while the next Subordinate-only event would start after a week.
But while Aleron and his gang were training and progressing at their pace, the other pieces that would soon clash with him had started moving.
Warlord Graystar's territory,
"Lord Graystar, I've acquired the spatial coordinates of that portal. We can open it anytime now."
