The Werewolf King's Bride

Chapter 407 Mark

(From Blue's Perspective)

"Tell me about it."

I had talked about it with Dem only. Dem suspected the same as well.

"I believe he did not choose Mother randomly. Do you know I have two older brothers?"

"No?"

"I do," I said. "So, when my mother was pregnant with me, she was already married to my brothers' father. My father was a crazy person. He was on drugs as well as Mother. It was a toxic family. Father did not want a daughter.

Azure knew about this. He surely found out about it beforehand. So, he chose Mother. Mother is never a virtuous woman. She won't mind cheating if it's for money and drugs. She won't mind anything.

Then, she got pregnant. I look like Azure and I was also a girl that Father did not want," I said. "I did not grow up in a good environment, you see. It… it caused psychological damage on my part."

"I don't know who is in that family. I only know about our mother and her husband. I was never curious, so I never tried to find out more about it," he said. "But I knew her husband did not want a daughter. That's why Azure chose that family. He wanted to raise the child in that family so there would be psychological damage and the child would find it hard to live.

He wanted the child to be broken so he could appear like a god to them."

He looked at me in a strange way. "But he never suspected there would be two," he said. "He knew which one had more mana. He left the one with more mana with that family and brought the other one with him."

'So, the one with more mana would be abused.'

"That's what I suspected too," I said. "We were discussing it for a while now."

"We?"

"Me and my husband," I replied. "He suspected it first actually."

"His mind has been played with for seven years too."

"Yes. That person, was it his mother?" I asked.

He chuckled but did not answer me. Cyan was indeed a weird person. "Hearing all this, do you believe a single thing Azure says?"

I got the answer to my question. Reece and Abel were not okay. I sighed. I feared for their well-being. They were pulled into it because of me.

"But why Reece? Why did Azure kidnap Reece? He has done nothing and he has no relation to this whatsoever."

"Why did he bring Abel here too?"

"Because he was with me," I said.

"He could have just put him to sleep or kill him right there."

"Because…," I mumbled, looking uneasy, "he wants to threaten me."

"Bingo."

"But Reece…"

"I am tired. I will sleep now," he said and without a word, he actually fell asleep within a second, thrusting his head back against the pillow.

Cyan actually continued our conversation that evening. He was in my room again. I was not allowed to go anywhere else without someone by my side.

"Why did you go to the lavender field?" he asked.

"Because Azure mentioned it once," I said.

"Ah, when he was communicating with you," he muttered.

"Yeah, that time."

"When he said that, he was already planning everything. You see, he took his time because he did not want to make it all seem coincidental."

"So, he had already chosen Reece then?"

"No. He wanted to go with the current mistress of the magic tower, but the master of the magic tower is overprotective. Now, there are way too many mages around her to protect her and also a magic barrier. If you want to make a barrier, you need to figure out the way it's made first. The more complex it is, the harder it is to break. Then, he chose that young boy."

"Calix?"

"No, the duke's son."n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"Oh, Junior Abel?"

"But the duke is very protective of him. He chose Calix too. But you were protective of him and usually made him stay within the palace ground."

"Ah, he is a child. Thank god, he is okay."

"He is literally only two years younger than you," he grumbled. "Anyway, in the end, he chose Reece. Reece is a hardworking person and quite smart when it comes to working. But he is not street-smart. He got captured quite easily on his way home after work."

'No wonder Flint is out of the question. He might be bratty, but he is really smart. Poor Reece…'

"Did Azure torture him?"

"I don't know."

"What? But you were talking pretty…"

"Don't get too close to me!" he suddenly shouted, leaving the room.

"Ah…? What…?"

That night, I could not eat again. I had nothing for lunch either. It was not like I did not want to eat. I just could not.

That creepy guy was always there, eyeing my body while I ate. There was no one in the dining hall when I went to have lunch. It was just me and him. I just could not eat a single bite.

Besides, even if he was not there, I would still not be able to eat. How could I eat when I was so away from home? Dem was not eating for sure. He was probably looking for me crazily.

I missed him too much. It was bound to happen. I realized quite a long time ago that it was not just love that I had for him. My love was a type of obsession as well, just not as severe as his.

A few days passed. I had only been in my room and the dining hall. Cyan made small conversations with me, but I had to initiate them. I was less scared of him now. The creepy guy still always made me uncomfortable. Azure joined me for dinner sometimes.

I could not meet Reece and Abel. I tried to convince all three of them, but no one let me.

I could not eat much all these days. Because of that, I was very weak. My head always hurt. I had felt nauseous countless times, but could not vomit. How could I even let anything out when I had not had anything much in the first place?

I gradually became sick. I had a fever and in the end, it came to the point of not being able to eat at all. So, I was served soup.

"Tomorrow, something special will happen," Azure smiled while I was trying to have a spoon of soup. It was getting cold, but I barely could have it because of my lack of appetite.

"Ah, it is that day," Lloid grinned. "May I have the honor to do it?"

"Do what?"

"It is a very special part of being a member of my family. Since you are my dear daughter, you will have the same mark as me and your brother."

"What mark?"

"You will see. It will be no surprise if I tell you now."

"I don't like surprises," I said. "Tell me." Continue reading at empire

"Princess is quite impatient."

"She is my daughter, after all. We don't like secrets."

'What the hell he is talking about?'

"But this time, let yourself be surprised, sweetie," he said.

These people were not someone to trust about getting surprises. My instincts told me something was wrong. What mark were they talking about?

'They are talking about a tattoo, right? I mean, some groups tattoo a specific mark to their bodies as if to show off that they belong to that group. I don't want a tattoo though. I don't belong to this circle.'

It was nighttime when Azure came to my room. "Can I come in?" he asked with a smile.

"Yes…," I muttered.

"Hm, how are you feeling now? Better than before."

"The medicine seems to have worked," I replied.

"Good for you," he said. "Now, are you ready to get your surprise?"

"Ah… I don't want a surprise."

"Don't be like that. Come on," he urged.

When I was not getting out of bed, he started pulling me. At least, he was being gentle. I finally got up.

"Follow me," he said.

He was walking slowly as if to match my strides. I never was the type to walk too fast. Luc complained about it sometimes but always slowed down for me anyway.

On the way, we met Cyan. He was leaning against a pillar on the first floor. It was the first time I had been on the first floor, so I was looking around. Actually, I was looking for an exit.

"Must she have that mark?" Cyan asked.

"Yes," Azure replied. "She is my daughter. She must have it. You have it too."

"Yes, I know. It's just… Whatever," he said and walked away.

It kind of pissed me off how Cyan stopped halfway. 'Make some proper sense, damn it!'

Azure led me to a ballroom that was bustling with masked people. In that place, I found out what was waiting for me. Precisely saying, what horror was waiting for me…
