The Fake Heiress's Inner Thoughts Were Heard by Her Entire Family

Chapter 17: The Illness of Lin Ruiqing

Chapter 17

At a private hospital in North River, the Jing family had gathered for medical check-ups.

The private hospital was situated atop a mountain in North River city.

On the way there, Jing Yi had found the location rather peculiar.

Who would put a hospital on a mountaintop?

Jing Zeyou explained that since it wasn't a public hospital, the location was chosen with patient privacy in mind.

Moreover, this hospital was renowned globally for its top-notch medical technology, facilities, and service.

Jing Yi and Jing Zejun stood on the balcony, overlooking the scenery of North River.

Jing Zejun glanced secretly at Jing Yi beside her, noticing she hadn't spoken a word during the journey.

He wondered if Jing Yi was worried about something, or just lost in thought.

"Yi Yi, you don't need to worry, it's just a simple check-up," Jing Zejun said softly, trying to comfort her.

Jing Yi responded with a weak "mm," and resumed her reverie.

Concern flickered in Jing Zejun's eyes; it was rare to see Jing Yi so distracted.

'Knock, knock'

Someone was at the door!

Jing Yi quickly turned to look. It was the doctor friend Jing Zeyou had consulted earlier.

"Zeyou, everyone's test results are ready," Jing Zeyou stepped forward.

He was particularly concerned about Jing Yi's condition. "Are there any issues with their reports?"

"Both young ladies' check-up reports show no major problems. However, it's worth noting that Miss Jing Zejun's report indicates a weakened immune system. If possible, it would be best to avoid prolonged dieting and adjust her eating habits accordingly."

Jing Zejun, feeling the weight of everyone's gaze, sheepishly rubbed her nose.

She had indeed been a bit harsh on herself lately, but thankfully, the filming was almost wrapped up.

"What about little Yi?" Could it be that nothing was found?

The doctor replied, "Miss Jing Yi is in excellent health, with no minor issues to report."

Even with her lax lifestyle, she's still healthy? Jing Zeyou's eyes betrayed his surprise.

Even Jing Beicheng and the others were somewhat astonished.

Jing Yi, noticing their expressions, felt a bit indignant.

[What's that supposed to mean? Deep sleep is the best way to stay healthy, and I've been eating well and exercising properly, you know!]

Jing Zeyou felt a bit disappointed, but since nothing was found, it meant there wouldn't be any impact on Jing Yi's health.

Before he could fully relax, his friend's next words made Jing Zeyou's heart skip a beat.

"Everyone else's health is fine, except for Auntie."

The room suddenly fell silent, shock and unease filling everyone's eyes.

"What did you say?" Jing Zeyou was stunned for a moment before quickly regaining his composure.

The doctor glanced at Jing Zeyou, then shifted his gaze to Lin Ruiqing.

"Auntie's health condition is not optimistic... Although it's currently in its early stages and the likelihood of deterioration is low, it would be best to admit her for observation immediately."

Jing Beicheng stood up and strode to the doctor.

The doctor handed him the report, carefully explaining the issues with Lin Ruiqing's health.

Jing Beicheng furrowed his brow, "She has annual check-ups. Why wasn't this detected before?"

"The human body is like that. Often, problems hidden inside suddenly worsen, but fortunately, we've caught this early."

Jing Beicheng didn't seem comforted, his expression remaining grave as his hand holding the report trembled slightly.

Surprisingly, Lin Ruiqing was the calmest person in the family.

"Beicheng"

Jing Beicheng looked up, passing the report to Jing Zeqian who had approached, then sat back down beside Lin Ruiqing, tightly holding his wife's hand.

Nearby, Jing Yi actually breathed a sigh of relief, her earlier unease dissipating.

[Thank goodness! It's only mild, there's still time for everything.]

Jing Yi's words reminded the Jing family members who had sunk into a gloomy mood.

Yes, there was still time for everything.

"Zeyou, we'll need to wait until Auntie is admitted and undergoes further detailed examinations before we can formulate a specific treatment plan."

Jing Zeyou nodded and left with the doctor to arrange Lin Ruiqing's hospitalization.

Jing Yi patted Jing Zejun's back, offering silent comfort.

Jing Zejun's eyes were slightly red; it seemed she had been quite scared earlier.

She had only recently found her birth parents, and it was as if heaven had almost played a cruel joke on her.

Jing Zejun hugged Jing Yi, who was surprised but still gently patted her back, quietly comforting her.

Yi Yi, thank you so much!

"You really don't all need to stay here. Didn't the doctor say it's just inpatient treatment for now? No surgery is needed at this stage," Lin Ruiqing said, looking at the row of people standing before her, urging those who needed to work to go to work, those filming to go film, and those resting to rest.

But no one budged.

Lin Ruiqing sighed, "Even if I need someone, isn't your father here? There's no need for such a crowd around me. If you're not feeling cramped, I certainly am."

Jing Yi silently looked up at the spacious private room.

[It seems quite roomy to me.]

This was the most famous private hospital in North River, also owned by Hengjing, so naturally, they wouldn't put Lin Ruiqing in an ordinary ward.

It was Jing Yi's first time seeing a hospital room with a reception area. She inwardly shook her head, thinking, truly befitting of a boss, even when sick they need to receive guests.

Lin Ruiqing was rarely at a loss for words, but Jing Yi's reaction gave her pause. She glared at Jing Beicheng beside her, whose lips were slightly curved upwards.

"Anyway, I don't need so many people. Go about your business, it's annoying to see you all here!"

Jing Zeyou and the others looked at Lin Ruiqing, hesitant to speak. They still wanted to stay and take care of her.

After all, Lin Ruiqing had never been this ill before, and all her daughters were very worried.

The atmosphere in the room became tense.

Jing Yi quietly raised her hand, her voice soft, "Um, how about I stay to take care of Auntie?"

"Alright! Then it's decided!" Jing Zeqian didn't hesitate for even a second, afraid Jing Yi might change her mind.

Jing Yi gave him a silent look.

[Great! I'm the only one without a job, so this important task falls to me! After all, I'm the only unemployed one, you're all busy! It's good to be busy!]

...Big brother, is she taking advantage of us?

Jing Zeyou shot Jing Zeqian a warning glance, then turned to Jing Yi and asked, "Are you sure it's okay?"

"No problem!" Jing Yi promised earnestly.

[What could be the problem? The hospital has nurses and doctors, and there's Uncle too. At most, I'll just be keeping her company and entertaining her. Maybe I'll be a delivery person if Auntie doesn't like the hospital food. I could bring meals made by Aunt Wang. I wonder if Aunt Wang's health food tastes good...]

A hint of a smile flashed in Jing Zeyou's eyes as he agreed to let Jing Yi stay.

Come to think of it, this was a private hospital in North River with the best medical resources and services. Even if they all stayed, they wouldn't be of much use, and perhaps Jing Yi would be better at keeping their mother entertained.

Jing Zejun hesitated for a moment but didn't insist on staying. Since Jing Yi would be there to keep Lin Ruiqing company, she decided to finish her remaining work first and then come back to accompany her mother.

And so, Jing Yi officially began her life as a caregiver.
