A wave of mist began in the Eastern Forest; the sudden mist engulfed the eastern part of the academy, which was adjacent to the forest. Noah stared at this scene with wide eyes.

'Why is the subjugation event..!'

The mist poured out like an explosion, and it was accompanied by the distant howling of wolves. It was all just like the staging when the White Wolf of Mimu made an appearance.

The problem was that it was too soon, much too soon.

In the original, it starts in early April.

To be precise, it coincided with the mock battle; however, now it was still early to mid-March.

There was plenty of time left. So why had the seal been released already?

'......Could there be a variable I don't know about?'

Of course, there were plenty of variables.

Right now, Ulan's enrollment in Arsene Academy was a variable, and the fact that he beat Himmel to a pulp and received disciplinary action was also a variable.

But that's about it.

None of these variables were related to the appearance of the White Wolf of Mimu.

Then why the hell......!

It remained a mystery that wouldn't unravel.

Noah clawed at her nails in frustration, but she couldn't afford to contemplate why the Subjugation Event had been moved forward.

"Gah!"

"No, there's a wolf! There's a wolf!"

"Aahhh! Run!"

Outside the window, there was a sudden commotion.

Noah instinctively turned her gaze towards it.

And she wasn't the only one. Ibella, too, looked in the direction of the screams. Soon, both of them witnessed an astonishing sight.

"......!"

The first thing they saw was a white mist; the mist wriggled like a living organism. But it didn't take long for the swirling mist to take on a distinct shapea wolf with fluffy white fur.

[Kyaaaan!]

The wolf, formed in a shovelful of time, pounced on the ground with a roar; like a real wolf that roams the forest in search of prey.

"What the hell is that......," Ibella's eyes narrowed.

In contrast, Noah remained calm. She knew exactly what it was.

Even if the seal was just broken, it can't move immediately.

It would need to regain its strength first.

That's why the White Wolf created a mist clone and attacked all living creatures in the vicinity to absorb their mana and replenish its strength.

It's the White Wolf of Mimu after all.

She finally admitted it after seeing the clone.

For some reason, she realized that the subjugation event of the mock battle had been moved forward. Accepting the reality of the situation, she immediately began to take action.

'There is no other way to solve this situation than to subjugate the white wolf.'

White Wolf of Mimu was a demonic beast.

And the longer it lived, the more powerful it became, absorbing the mana of the world.

If you leave it alone without subjugating it, it will not only regain its original power, but it will also become stronger and eventually become a major threat.

'So.......'

It must be eliminated somehow.

Now was the opportunity when it was relatively weak.

'It's possible.

There were many Named characters in the Arsene Academy.

Right now, Ibella was with her, and if Ulan and Dilia, who were in other places, lend their strength, the subjugation difficulty would be greatly reduced.

Just when hope was in Noah's eyes

"A, a beast!?"

.Erwin, the librarian, exclaimed in horror as he looked out the window. Of course, the white wolf is a beast, so his guess was correct.

But there was a mistake.

His voice was too loud. To the point that the clone of the White Wolf noticed his presence.

[Growl! Bark!]

[Kyaaaan!]

The wolves rushed towards the library; they scaled the wall in one fell swoop and smashed through the solid glass window.

Crack! Crack!

Along with the glass window that was shattered in vain, the clones of the white wolf broke into the library.

"Hi, hiiiik!"

As a signal of the terrified scream.

Erwin seemed to lose his strength in his legs and sat down on the spot. An easy prey that does not run away. The wolves came running with their teeth bared.

However, they failed to achieve their goal.

Flash! Swish!

A sword strike that flew like a flash of lightning.

The obsidian blade effortlessly cleaved through one of the leading wolves, causing their assault to falter momentarily, and someone stepped in front of Erwin.

"Are you injured?"

The voice was dry and matter-of-fact, belonging to the protagonist of this moment Ibella Elearde; she stood facing the remaining wolves, never letting her guard down. Then, without preamble, she addressed Noah, "You must be Noah Darshen, right?"

"......Huh? Uh-yes."

Was it the suddenness of the moment? Noah nodded, confused. When she nodded back in the affirmative, Ibella spoke again, "I heard from Ulan. You're pretty strong, right?"

"Ulan said that?"

"Yeah. He said that you will definitely pass the preliminary rounds."

After recalling the memory, Ibella asked again, "So how strong are you actually?"

"Uh, enough to hold my own against one person......."

"And can you get rid of those wolves too?"

The number of wolves was steadily increasing. Even though Ibella was the future Sword Maiden, it was challenging to face so many wolves, especially when they were no ordinary wolves but Bai Lang's clones.

Noah, on the other hand, was different; she was a shaman, and shamans were known for excelling in one-to-many combat situations.

So she immediately said yes.

"Uh, yeah, if I can find the time."

"Okay, okay."

A faint smile tugged at the corners of her mouth.

With a determined gaze, Ibella held the longsword firmly in her hands. Then she glared at the wolves, who seemed poised to pounce at any moment.

"I'll buy you time. But I need you to protect the librarian and deal with the wolves."

"Yeah, leave it to me!" Noah replied briskly.

Her face flushed with color. It was understandable; she was not only getting a chance to bond with Ibella but also the opportunity to fight alongside her.

'Maybe we'll be friends soon.......'

As she thought this, her spirits soared.

At that moment, while Noah was letting out a light-hearted laugh, Ibella warned in a stern voice, "Look out! They're coming!"

Noah immediately regained her composure.

This was her chance to get closer to Ibella. She couldn't afford to miss this opportunity that had finally presented itself. Without hesitation, she assumed a combat stance.

Pababababat!

Blue amulets filled the air.

Feeling threatened, the wolves shifted their focus to Noah. Of course, as long as Ibella was there, they couldn't accomplish their goal.

In the meantime.

Noah quickly finished the spell.

"Sorry, Librarian!"

She bowed to Erwin, and soon, Noah's spell was activated.

Kwaaaan!

A violent explosion from the amulet; every desk and bookshelf in the reading room burst into flames.

The battle began throughout the academy.

* * * * * * *

Out of nowhere came the sudden onslaught of wolves. As chaos engulfed the Arsene Academy, Ulan calmly strolled through the mist.

The entire forest was shrouded in a hazy veil, making it difficult to distinguish direction, whether it was the ground or the sky; yet, Ulan moved forward confidently.

Even in this fog-shrouded place, there was a distinct presence he could feel.

The demonic beast.

When the mist had initially descended, he had sensed a clear presence; though it had considerably diminished by now, he could still gauge its approximate location.

As he continued walking for a while, a new sensation emerged faint but undeniably real. Shortly after, something blocked Ulan's path.

[Grrrr!]

A pack of about a dozen wolves.

Though faint, he could sense the faint aura of a demonic beast. Ulan drew his axe, and the wolves suddenly flinched and stepped back.

This wasn't mere caution; their eyes trembled with fear. Realizing this, Ulan raised an eyebrow in puzzlement.

Why are they afraid of my axe?

Animals and demonic beasts disliked the smell of iron, or more precisely, they were wary of weapons. However, to this extent? It was the first time Ulan had seen beasts openly dread a weapon.

It's more trouble like this.

Ulan would have preferred if the wolves had attacked him head-on. He could have simply swung his axe and split them in half. But instead, the wolves kept retreating, showing no intention of attacking.

However, this lasted only for a moment.

When Ulan quickened his pace towards where he had first sensed the beast's presence, the wolves revealed their true intentions and lunged at him.

Wham! Thud!

And just like that, they were split in two; there was no mercy in Ulan's axe, and he cut every wolf in half.

There was something peculiar, though. It didn't feel like he was cleaving through wolves, but rather, slicing through empty air. After a short while, Ulan realized the reason behind this sensation.

"Smoke?"

The wolves, split into two halves, had turned into smoke without exception. It looked as though the mist was gradually dissipating.

"Could it be a clone?"

Sometimes there are such demonic beasts.

They hide their bodies elsewhere, sending out their clones to hunt for prey. Ulan muttered, remembering his past life.

"I guess we'll have to go after the main body after all."

This type of demonic beast would continue to create clones until it was defeated. It was one of Ulan's least favorite types of demonic beasts in his past life.

Ulan frowned.

"It would have been easier if Sven was here."

Sven Isaac, the sniper of the Warrior Party.

He was very good at detecting hidden enemies; no matter how far away they were, they couldn't escape his eyes.

However, right now, Sven wasn't around to help; he still has a long way to go to meet Sven.

But that's okay.

It was a bit of a bummer, but he had a skill he'd built up for a day like this.

In the half-year of his regression

double-digit mathematics wasn't the only thing Ulan had learned. He'd also developed several new skills he'd never used in his previous life.

Like this one he's using now.

Kwoon!

After putting his axe down on the ground

suddenly kneeling, Ulan placed both palms on the ground. As if preparing to sprint. Then he closed his eyes and began to breathe slowly.

"Hoo...Haa..."

Regular breaths.

Slowly, his senses become heightened.

To the point where he could hear his heart pounding loudly.

Soon, he could hear the sound of the wind rustling through leaves, the wolves' paws treading on the ground.

Some time later.

And moments later, the sounds converged, providing him with the information he needed. It was a map that only Ulan could perceive, invisible to the naked eye.

The center of heightened senses unfolded sharply.

Ulan stimulated his spirit, like dropping a water droplet into a tranquil pond. As a result, all his senses expanded rapidly.

Sasasasasasasas!

Colors started to appear on the previously colorless map.

Before long, Ulan could sense the presence throughout the entire eastern forest. Among them, there was one wolf with an exceptionally strong aura.

"...I found you," Ulan bared his teeth and smiled.

This was his skill called "Tracking ()" which expands the senses by activating the spirit and then finds the desired existence. It was a tracking skill that Ulan independently created by applying Sven's skill.

"The same one I felt the first time."

The location where Ulan had found the wolf's main body matched the spot where he had initially sensed the demonic beast's presence. There was no need to hesitate any longer.

Swish!

With his axe in hand, he quickly dashed forward.

The thick mist couldn't obstruct his view. He had already pinpointed the location; now all that remained was reaching his target.

[Awoooooo-!]

And at that moment,

the ground trembled as the wolves howled. Following that, the mist began to dissipate, revealing hundreds of wolves blocking his path.

[Grrr! Woof!]

[Kaaaaaaaah!]

Roaring and barking echoed; murderous intent that bursts out like an explosion.

The ferocity was such that it sent shivers down anyone's spine, but Ulan chuckled.

"You should have come out like this earlier."

The wolves didn't conceal their ferocity, and Ulan saw no reason to hide his strength any longer.

With his spirit pushed to the limit, Ulan took a step forward.

Thud!

Beyond this was the realm of the Master.

A being who wasn't a Master couldn't perceive the flow of time, even if their bodies turned to vapor.

Thud!

He took another step forward.

Then the wind blew.

Saaaaaaah!

The mist was much thinner than before. Ulan continued to walk as if nothing had happened.

There were no more wolf sounds.

* * * * *

While on his way to his destination, Ulan spotted a familiar object. They were stakes resembling the one he had pulled out earlier, but he didn't pay them much attention. At the moment, the most important thing was to bring down the wolf's main body.

How long had he been walking?

He finally arrived near his target. As Ulan scanned his surroundings, he soon discovered a place that seemed like it might hide the beast's main body.

"A crypt?"

It looked like the entrance to a crypt, like a monstrous creature lurking beneath the ground had opened its gaping mouth. Ulan didn't hesitate and entered it.

The inside of the crypt was quite deep.

As he walked through the dark passageways, the demonic aura grew stronger; the presence became clearer with each step.

Shortly afterward, the owner of the crypt revealed itself

[Grrrr!]

emitting a threatening growl.

It was a wolf with fur as white as snow; its pupils glowed like flames, and its teeth were gruesomely sharp.

However, there was one other feature that stood out the most its colossal size.

Even when it was crouched down, it still filled the crypt. It was impossible to imagine just how massive it truly was.

But that wasn't all.

Upon closer inspection, the wolf's eyes seemed to possess a unique power, like demonic eyes; merely locking eyes with it could make most people feel overwhelmed.

Of course, Ulan remained unfazed.

[Grrrr! Grrrr!]

The wolf continued to growl menacingly.

However, its howls seemed oddly powerless. Its crouched body appeared depleted, as if it had lost all of its strength.

While observing the wolf like that, Ulan's attention was suddenly drawn elsewhere.

"That's......."

There was an injury near the wolf's neck; something was embedded there.

At first, Ulan thought it was a large thorn, but upon closer examination, it didn't seem to be the case.

With narrowed eyes, he scrutinized it carefully and soon recognized what it was.

"An axe?"

An axe that had turned entirely pitch-black, even the handle; small for a two-handed axe, large for a hatchet, it was an ambiguous size. Meanwhile, Ulan, who fixed his eyes on the axe, had a puzzled expression.

"I think I've seen this somewhere before......."

It was an axe from his memories.

Where had he seen it before?

It seemed quite recent. Ulan furrowed his brow and searched his memory. Then, he suddenly remembered where he had seen the axe.

"Oh, right."

The book he'd been reading before he passed out.

The axe from the same book that Ibella had handed him. Recognizing this, Ulan frowned, his face even more questioning.

"But why is it here?"

The axe embedded in the wolf's throat was one of the twin axes Ulan was determined to get his hands on.

A weapon forged from a Craving Stone, with the power to absorb mana, and the ability to be restored to its original form at any time it was Gula, the Axe of Gluttony.
