Chapter 65 Risk It All!
Hugo pushed open the door to Lisa's room with all the confidence of a man who was about to conquer the world. His heart was hammering like a drum solo at a rock concert.
He was so nervous he felt like he had taken three ice baths. He was drenched in the cold sweat of fear.
This was it—the moment of truth. Or, at least, it would've been if he hadn't immediately realised one tiny, very important detail:
"Oh crap, I didn't knock," he whispered, freezing mid-step. His eyes went wide with panic. Of all the ways to start, it just had to be the worst one!
"I just barged in. Like some kind of… Oh no. Oh no no no. She's gonna think I'm a perv! Or worse—a creep! Or worse worse—a serial room barger-inner! Is that a thing? That's totally a thing."
His sweaty hand gripped the door handle, his brain doing mental backflips. Should he leave? Pretend this never happened?
But he was already halfway inside the room, and the door was slowly creaking shut behind him, leaving him standing like a clueless idiot.
Even if he wanted to turn around now, it would only make him look more ridiculous. His meager status would simply crumble in her mind.
Heck, she would probably think he was a sock sniffer!
"Okay, Hugo, calm down," he whispered, trying to gather what little courage he had left. "You're not a sock-sniffer. You're… a hero. A guy on a mission. You've already crossed the line. You're in. There's no going back now. Just… act normal. Commit!"
He straightened up, trying to look as calm and collected as possible—which was hard, considering he was still sweating buckets from his own nerves.
Although he knew she was definitely staring at him like he was crazy for all the antics he had demonstrated, he still braved his heart and looked around.
Alas...
The room was neat, but it was completely empty! It was empty! There was no trace of Lisa's ridiculously gorgeous and sexy body!
"Huh?" His head tilted as he scanned every corner. "Where is she? Did… did she leave?" Panic started bubbling in his mind again.
A sinking feeling began to claw its way into his chest. "Oh no. Oh no no no. Did she leave? Did I miss her? Is the system event… over?"
The thought hit him like a truck. He clutched his chest dramatically, staggering back a step. "Nooooooo!" he hissed under his breath. "If she left, then I'm doomed. I can't start over. I have, what, six days left? I'll never recover!"
"The system's gonna roast me alive, and Sanchez will probably disown me, and then I'll be that guy who got kicked out of a mansion for failing a Casanova mission!"
If she left the party, he wouldn't know what to do anymore. Sanchez had already set the stage for him, but the dumb girl he had chosen had went away to meet baldy the brute.
His only hope was Lisa, and now she was also gone.
He was about to turn around and make his tragic exit when a sound stopped him dead in his tracks. The faint noise of running water came from the bathroom.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Hugo froze, his head snapping towards the bathroom door like a deer spotting headlights. "Wait a second…" he muttered, his brain doing mental gymnastics.
"Water. Shower. Shower means…" His eyes widened. "Lisa's here! She's taking a shower!"
Relief washed over him like a tidal wave, but it didn't stop his thoughts from immediately veering into dangerous territory.
"Oh man, she's probably in there all wet, soap dripping everywhere, steam rising around her—OH MY GOD, HUGO, STOP!" He slapped himself hard enough to leave a mark.
The sight of her naked, wet body inside that shower was certain to be an erotic sight without compare.
So much so that he wanted to barge right in but managed to stop himself at the last moment.
"Focus! You're not a perv. You're a professional. A man with a PLAN."
He began pacing back and forth, muttering like a madman. "Alright, new plan. Adapt and conquer. Lisa's in the shower. That's fine. We just need a new strategy. What would a general do? Let's see…"
He started gesturing wildly, as if directing an invisible army. "Step one: wait for the target to emerge. Step two: use aura for maximum charm. Step three: sweep her off her feet!"
But then a thought struck him like a thunderbolt. He yanked open the system interface and checked his aura duration.
"Eleven seconds?!" he screeched, his voice an octave higher than normal. "What the hell? Why did it reduce so fast?! Who designed this garbage system? That's not enough time to charm a squirrel, let alone Lisa! What am I supposed to do with eleven seconds? Smile at her and hope for the best?!"
He had conveniently forgotten all the times.he had used it to charm the gorgeous girl in the pool and the times he had also used it to last longer when she was giving him the miraculous hand job...
He threw his hands up, pacing like a lunatic. "Okay, calm down. Let's think. Do I wait in here like a normal person? Or… do I go in there and make my move?"
His brain began running wild, playing out the scenarios. "If I stay here, she could just tell me to leave. Embarrassing, but survivable. But if I go in… she won't see it coming. No time to react. I could swoop in like a knight in shining—uh, damp towel armour—and blow her mind!"
For a moment, sanity tried to wrestle control. "Hugo, that's insane. No normal person would ever do that. It's creepy, reckless, and 100% gonna backfire…" He grinned like a madman. "Good thing I'm not normal!"
Determined, he marched toward the bathroom door, his heart pounding like he was storming the gates of destiny. "This is it. The final battle. Risk it all, Hugo! RISK IT ALL!"
