Chapter 136: Real Trial
Chapter 136: Real Trial
Tyx wanted to argue with Sol but suddenly the arena's ground opened up, revealing a hole, they could feel the wind coming from it.
"What is that?" Jennie asked while walking toward the hole.
"No time to talk, Jump in! If we are late then we would need to redo the trial!" Txy warned while running toward the hole then jumped in it.
"Should we follow?" Harry asked in hesitation while the others just ran toward the hole.
"Of course we follow her, she got the map and I ain't redoing this fucking trial," Tom shouted back.
Sol jumped down the hole, he could see there was another world down there, covered in trees, rock, and water, he was falling from high up in the air.
"Fuck! Why did we fall from such a high place? This trial ground is already trying to kill us the moment we got in?" Sol lamented as he tried to reorient himself in the air.
Tyx who was the first to jump was closer to the ground, she did not even try to slow her fall, she got closer and closer to the ground before she hit the ground, she conjured a tower of water under her.
She fell right on top of it and dive into the water, it slowed her fall to a stop right when she was about to touch the ground.
She got out of it and stretched her body before looking at Sol and the other, she waved her hand in goodbye before she dismissed her conjured tower, leaving Sol and the other nothing to slow their fall.
"Fucking asshole! Can't you be less petty?" He cursed at her, Tyx was paying them back for not helping her before.
Jennie could somehow use her ability to glide in the air, she reached the ground with ease while Tom was having trouble landing, luckily Jennie helped to slow him down right before he smashed into the ground.
With Jennie busy helping Tom, Sol and Harry were left to fend for themselves, "Ugh... There is no other way," Sol thought as he entered the limit-break mode.
Purple lightning and ice fog started to come out of his body as did a few flips in the air and land with a boom on the ground.
He was relying on his enhanced physical strength to absorb the speed and shock from landing at such a high speed.
The ground around him cave in into a crater, and dust was sent flying everywhere, his landing was so powerful that it created an earthquake in a dozen kilometers radius.
Sol could feel his bones fracturing from that landing, even his enhanced body could not take it without a cost.
His legs were broken and his backbone fractured but the limit-break mode also gave him super high-speed regeneration, his bones healed up within seconds, and his legs already as good as new in a few seconds.
Sol directly fell to his back and canceled the limit-break, he did not want to be weakened for a long time so he only used the costly ability for a few seconds.
"Fuck that hurts," he complained as he looked to the sky.
Harry was falling toward him but he could see him holding both hands toward the ground and thunder and lightning started to gather in his hand.
"Fuck!" Sol cursed as he hurriedly scrambled out of the way as Harry shot thunder from both arms at the place Sol was lying on.
Harry continuously shot lightning to slow down his speed and successfully land albeit a bit rough, he rolled a few times on the ground to dampen the rest of his momentum.
"Harry! Did you try to kill me or something?" Sol protested at the lightning man.
"Hahaha, You were in the way, I can do nothing about it," he laughed and dismissed Sol's complaint.
They were about to have a friendly banter when Tyx interrupted them, "Took you guys long enough! Let's go we are racing with other here!" she hurried them
Sol and his friend could not help but get annoyed at the girl's attitude, "If you had helped us then it would not be such a hassle to land!" they complained in the heart.
They followed the girl from behind when Sol tried to catch up to her, "Tyx, isn't it about time you tell us what we should expect in here?" he asked the girl.
She looked at him with disapproval but she ends up talking, "This is the Trial ground, the reason it is called so is because this place is filled with a lot of building, in each building, there is a treasure we can claim, but the thing is we will be racing with other groups, each building could only be claimed once each time the trial started," she explained
"The trial would only reset after a year so don't think about claiming it twice," She explained.
"You can only join a trial if you are a lesser demigod so if anyone advanced in this place they could not join another trial."
"The trial would be deadly, there will also be some trial that we are required to kill a certain number of other contestants so be prepared for a fight," she warned them.
"How about outside these buildings, is there any danger?" Sol asked.
"There are creatures native to this place but most of them are inside this building, only if you are unlucky that you will meet this creature outside of the trial building," Answered.
"Anyway, that's all, we should hurry to find a trial building before others get there first," She closed the conversation.
Sol still had a lot of questions to ask her but seeing that she was not going to answer any more questions, he did not want to bother asking her.
From time to time they could see people falling from the sky at a random location, it was like a human rain.
"As expected from a mini-world that belonged to God of the sky, even people fall from the sky here," Harry joked with them while continuing their journey.
"Tyx, which trial building are we going to? What will the trial be?" Jennie asked in curiosity.
Without turning back she answered, "it would be the real trial building, real trial is a trial where you will need to find one real thing among thousands of fake, you only have one chance to guess," she said.
"This is one of the least dangerous trials, even though it is not that dangerous the chance of winning is unlikely," she added.
"If it is that unlikely then why are we going there? Is it a waste of time?" Harry asked.
"It is not a waste of time, we can just spend a few minutes there since all we need is to guess, moreover we are going the same way, it is only a little detour," she explained despite her annoyance.
They continued to walk toward their destination when they passed through a forest, just when they got out of the forest they came by a group of four people.
The group was wearing black coats that cover all their features so Sol could not guess whether they were human, the dead, or creatures.
They stopped walking and looked at each other warily, each of them ready to attack at any moment.
Sol had started to gather his knife aura in preparation for any attack, but to their surprise, a man in black coat came forward with his hand up in surrender.
He opened his hoodie revealing his face, he looked human but he had feathers for hair, "Harpies? A direct descendant of the real deal I suppose?" Sol thought
Nerodia had explained to him a lot of creatures that he might need to fight or meet in the underworld, she told him that he might meet with a direct descendant of a mythical creature.
They are not that much different than a creature heir, the difference was just they were born that way and not because of a divinity shard.
"Friend, don't be wary, We are just here to test our luck with the real trial, there is no reason to fight, everyone can just try their luck there," the birdman tried to make peace.
"Why would we believe you? You might attack us once we get the treasure," Tyx retorted in hostility.
"Then why don't we make a vow? It's better than killing each other, we are not a beast after all," he suggested.
It was weird for them to hear such a word from a creature, if they declined then they would be the one considered as a beast.
"Fine, but what about the turn? It would not be fair if you try first or we try first," Tyx asked.
"Let's just do it in turn, since you have more people than you can start first," the birdman suggested.
In the end, they agreed to take turns and make a vow before continuing their journey.
"This bird is so confident that they will get the treasure," Sol looked at them suspiciously.
