The royal guards immediately knitted their brows the moment that they heard this.

The looks on their faces made it clear what they were thinking.

They weren't wrong to think this since these Five True Witches of the Sea had attacked the Merman King, which was considered a major crime. Even if they used potions that weren't strong enough to actually hurt the Merman King, it was still a major crime to even attack him.

So they naturally didn't like what the former crown prince said.

Even though they reacted like this, the former crown prince didn't take back what he said. Instead, he was looking at the Merman King as if he was waiting for his answer.

The Merman King had a calm look on his face, not showing any emotions at all which made it hard for people to guess what he was thinking.

It was just that no one could do anything until the Merman King gave a response.

At this point, he was the one that held all the power in the palm of his hands.

The Merman King looked at the Five True Witches of the Sea frozen in ice with that calm look on his face.

When the five of them saw him looking at them like this, they cursed at him and scolded him until their mouths were suddenly covered in ice. This ice blocked them from saying anything else, but the words that they said were already out there.

These were words that couldn't be taken back, these were words that could even be considered treason if they were said by a citizen of the Merman Empire.

It really seemed like this matter wouldn't end that easily.

But to everyone's surprise...

"Ha, ha, ha, it seems like these kids really are quite lively." The Merman King said while laughing.

Everyone looked at the Merman King with confused and shocked looks, as if they were trying to figure out what he was thinking. Only the Merman King just looked at the Five True Witches of the Sea with the same smile on his face.

After a moment of silence, he turned back to look at the former crown prince to say, "It seems like the future generation will be fine if there are lively ones like this among them."

The former crown prince had a strange look on his face as he didn't know what the Merman King meant by this.

The Merman King didn't seem to mind as he continued by saying, "In the past, we used to play the same kind of tricks on our royal father."

This time, a faint smile appeared on the former crown prince's face as he slowly nodded in agreement. After a bit of reminiscing, he said, "I remember when you accidentally broke our royal father's favourite trident and I took the blame for you."

The Merman King nodded with the same smile before saying, "It's the same as when you shattered our royal mother's favourite vase."

The two brothers seemed like they were lost in their own world as they entered their memories.

It didn't seem like anyone would be able to enter this world of theirs.

Only with the way that things were going, it really seemed like the Merman King was taking the side of the sea witches. It sounded like he wanted to drop this matter without persecuting the ones that attacked him.

The royal guards knitted their brows once more as traces of disappointment appeared in their eyes.

The former crown prince seemed to relax a bit because of this.

It was just that no one would have expected the Merman King to suddenly reveal a serious look before saying, "But if we leave things as they are, it will set a bad example. This is not the kind of thing that we can do when we're on the cusp of building a new underwater world."

Everyone immediately revealed serious looks as well as they waited to see what the Merman King had to say.

The Merman King turned back to look at the Five True Witches of the Sea before saying, "If we leave them be, can you guarantee that they won't do something like this again in the future?" The former crown prince bit his lip upon hearing this, but he didn't say anything to refute it. It wasn't that he didn't want to refute it, it was just that he couldn't refute it.

If he were to refute it, it would be a lie since he didn't believe it either that they would calm down if they were let off the hook this one time. He knew that the five of them would do the same thing again if they were given the chance.

It was just that he didn't think that being punished by the Merman Empire was the best thing for them.

Doing this might actually make the relationship between the Merman Empire and the sea witches worse.

The Merman King put a hand on the shoulder of the former crown prince before saying, "I have my own daughter and she's definitely a handful, so I know how hard it is to deal with kids like this. So I think that I've come up with a good solution to teach them a lesson."

The former crown prince slightly knitted his brows, but he still gave a simple nod to show that he wanted to hear what the Merman King had to say.

"Huh?" A confused look appeared on the face of the former crown prince when he heard this as he didn't know what the Merman King wanted to talk about.

The Merman King didn't seem to mind as he continued, "What I want is for you to become the principal of the new school that we will be setting up for the kids."
