Chapter 101 The Remaining Two
101 The Remaining Two Lyle wracked his brain over how he should proceed with this, but there was no one action he could do without raising any suspicion. Had he any more slots left for servants, he could easily turn one of the guards into a servant before getting all the information from him, but unfortunately, that was not possible as the slots were full, and he wasn't about to get rid of any of his three servants as they were too valuable to him.
Lyle didn't even try to go and eavesdrop on the guards that were inside the mansion since he wasn't certain if there were any Silver Knights that were proficient in stealth inside. Even one Silver Knight was currently enough to destroy Lyle and his small band of vampires. Nôv(el)B\\jnn
His thoughts proved correct as Lyle stayed inside a café that was near the mansion, and only about 1 hour after he had been there, he saw a captain of the guard leaving the mansion. The man was clearly frustrated and it showed on his face, which made Lyle think that they might not have caught any of the thugs.
Upon seeing that, Lyle went up and paid for his drink before making his way over to the door, only for his eyes to slightly enlarge upon noticing one person that had been sitting in the café for even longer than him.
Lyle was so focused on the mansion that he didn't even fully observe the insides of the café, a rookie mistake that he hadn't made in god knows how long. Luckily, the mistake wouldn't cost him anything as the person that Lyle had only now noticed was one of the two thugs that had not been found.
Lyle had gotten the full description of the two remaining thugs from Olman, he needed to know how they looked in case one of them showed up near the mansion.
Upon noticing the thug, who was actually the only one that Olman called 'smart' amongst all of those that worked for him, Lyle simply left the café. When he turned around to close the door, he noticed the last remaining thug getting out of the toilet of the café and sitting walking toward the other one.

Upon noticing the thug, who was actually the only one that Olman called 'smart' amongst all of those that worked for him, Lyle simply left the café. When he turned around to close the door, he noticed the last remaining thug getting out of the toilet of the café and sitting walking toward the other one.
It was clear to Lyle that the two men had grouped together after the death of Morn. Knowing that the Holad family was dead, the smart one, Ole, immediately knew that something bad had happened to their organization.
He was one of the rare ones in the organization that knew that Morn was the eldest son of the Holad family, and after hearing how all of them were killed the previous night, he quickly went to Mast, the other thug, and decided to walk past the mansion to check things out.
After doing so and noticing that there were seemingly no people in the mansion, Ole had a bad feeling and decided to sit in the café with Mast in order to wait and see if anyone would show up.
After seeing how there were multiple guards that entered and left the mansion, he was certain that the organization was done for. Since Morn was dead, the guards of the Holad family and the Rain family would definitely turn to their organization and capture them all in order to interrogate them.
He knew that if they were caught, they would be tortured in order to spill out everything they knew, before finally being killed as the Holad family would not allow them to live and potentially spread the news that Morn had created an underground organization.
Something like that would tarnish the name of the Holad family, and although most people in the city knew that all the large gangs were directly connected with the large noble families, there was no clear proof of that as the nobles would make sure to never be tied directly to the gangs.
Lyle sighed in relief as he made his way to some nearby houses and quickly made another disguise for him. Making sure that nobody saw him, he changed not only his face but also his clothes before going around the houses and making his way to the café.
He had done so a total of 3 times before the two thugs had finally gotten up to leave. He stalked the two for a bit, making sure that nobody would notice him.
Unfortunately, the streets were a bit crowded, so it was not feasible for him to simply kill the two right now. He didn't want a crowd to gather after the two were dead, as that could potentially alarm the guards of the Holad family. People being killed in broad daylight was not something that would occur in the city, and they would definitely be able to connect the two deceased with the organization that Morn had created.
It wouldn't lead back to him, but it would make the Holad family continue to look for those that were involved in the organization for much longer, and with more scrutiny. It would simply make things a lot more inconvenient for Lyle, so he patiently stalked the two men before they finally entered a small bar inside an alley.
Lyle knew of this place, it was where the scum of the city would often go to drink their worries away and do some illegal gambling and other things.
He once again changed his disguise, this time making sure to look similar to the low lives inside, he even made sure to wear some old and tattered clothes so as to blend in perfectly.
After getting inside, he could see that the two men had sat down and were drinking. Their entire organization had just been destroyed, and they were certain that the Holad family was hot on their trace, which meant that they would have little time remaining to do anything.
Leaving the city was impossible for the two, they were weak, had no special talents, and weren't able to afford to pay for a caravan to bring them to a different city.
They knew it was only a matter of time before they were caught as they of course didn't know that the guards had no leads and were pretty much left with no information about the organization.
In their minds, the two were certain that the guards had captured most of their comrades and had gained enough information about them as well.
The only thing the guards knew, however, was what they were able to get from a couple of shops that were paying the organization protection money, which was not a lot at all. Olman never showed himself to the stores and only the thugs knew what he looked like while Ole was the one responsible for counting the money and making sure everything was alright.
Mast was one of the muscles, so he did show up a couple of times to some stores, but nobody really remembered exactly how he and the other thugs looked like since Olman had forced them to always wear a mask when going to the stores.
That was done in order for those that passed next to the mansion to not recognize them. If Morn was tied to the organization, then it would look bad for the Holad family, and Olman knew that they would be immediately captured and killed for that.
Lyle suddenly approached the two and sat down at their table. The two immediately stared at him with suspicion, Mast had even grabbed a hold of a knife and prepared to attack immediately.
"Olman sent me, you two are the only ones left." Lyle suddenly said as he drank a beer he had ordered at the bar.
The two quickly glanced at each other before looking at Lyle again with suspicion.
"I'm sorry man, I have no idea who this 'Alman' you're speaking of is." Ole immediately said with a smile.
"I think you've mixed us up with some other people."
"He did tell me you were smart, Ole," Lyle said with a smile as Ole's smile immediately got wiped from his face.
"And that you were quite a hothead, Mast," Lyle said as he suddenly grabbed Mast's hand under the table and placed a dagger to his groin.
"Listen, the guards are doing everything they can to capture anyone that was part of the organization, me, Olman, and the others don't want anyone to get caught and implicate us."
"That means that you two will either come with me to meet with the others, or I will kill you right here and now," Lyle said to the two as he released some of his killing intent and focused it fully on the two.
The two men shook a bit in fear before nodding at Lyle and getting up. Lyle paid for their drinks before leading the outside.
They walked for a couple of minutes. Lyle seemed quite alert and was going through some dark alleys where nobody could see them, and after nothing had happened for that time, the two men relaxed, unaware that the only reason they were still alive was that Lyle had sensed people nearby before, and decided not to kill them then.
Upon passing through an alley that was completely empty and devoid of life, Lyle suddenly stopped before disappearing from the sight of the two men. Before they could even react to Lyle's movements, their heads were severed from their bodies as Lyle appeared behind them.
What do you think?
