Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 354 Jinx

Carmen had personally experienced the tactic Xu Feng used to recruit her.

Thus, she could somewhat grasp Xu Feng's current actions to be similar to when he attempted to recruit her.

He would look completely harmless, and even helpful at times. But then when the time was ripe, he would strike immediately, pushing you to the corner.

Although Carmen now guessed Xu Feng wanted to actively recruit Crimson Heart, the methods he was using were different from the ones he used on her.

Additionally, she didn't understand what Xu Feng saw in Crimson Heart— similar to when Xu Feng continuously mentioned she was a talented player time and time again.

"Anyway, do you want the information or not?" Xu Feng's hand remained stagnant in the air, seemingly still waiting for the payment.

Crimson Heart was still, her eyes glancing at Carmen.

To her surprise though, Carmen suddenly shrugged her shoulders and took a step back. "The Guild Leader wants a fee, and I can't do much about it."

"..."

'So was he messing with me or not? Make up your mind.' Crimson Heart inwardly exclaimed, finding Carmen's behavior quite odd. Nevertheless, she still retrieved a silver coin, and with a much bitter expression, she placed the coin on Xu Feng's palm.

She was not like Carmen, whom Xu Feng had stated he would protect from the start. Hence, if Xu Feng decided to just ditch her with Carmen, there was nothing else she could do about it.

As for attempting to attack Xu Feng to make him cough up the information or ensure he stayed, Crimson Heart had witnessed the ghost-like movement of Xu Feng.

Thus, she would truly be a fool to think he was some easy prey even though he was just a Cleric.

A few seconds later after taking the silver coin from her, Xu Feng proceeded to explain the mystery and why their so-called strategy to determine the passageway failed miserably.

"Each individual passageway is like a separate dimension of its own. Unless you personally walk through them, you won't be able to know what is inside." Xu Feng explained how their strategy was flawed from the get-go.

Normally, their strategy would prove effective if the passageway was operating as it was intended to.

However, this was the Abyssal Rift, and many dreaded venturing here, with many only exploring the upper level. Only a few powerful groups would explore the middle level. But even then, they remained extremely cautious in their every move.

Naturally, without anyone saying, none dare to even step foot in the lower level. Yet here they were, stuck in the lowest level.

"This is really some messed up situation." Crimson Heart clicked her tongue. "If the symbols on the wall could teleport us, then why aren't there any warnings?"

"That's because the symbols that could teleport us are randomized every second." Xu Feng smiled bitterly.

"We just happened to be extremely unlucky that your first touch of the symbol triggered it. The chance of it happening is even lower than the chance of winning a lottery."

Having said that, Xu Feng began to wonder if Crimson Heart was filled with unluckiness, overshadowing Carmen's luck.

Although luck could not be calculated or determined. One could still subtly determine it by adding on to the factor of how much misfortune they encountered with the said person versus the same encounter without their presence.

As Crimson Heart remained silent upon realizing she somehow become the unluckiest person possible, Xu Feng turned to Carmen.

"Which passageway should we go?" He asked softly.

Startled, Carmen didn't expect Xu Feng to inquire with her about their destination.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"You want me to pick a random passage?" She raised an eyebrow, clearly dumbfounded by his action.

With a solemn expression on his face, Xu Feng nodded. "Yes, we will go to the passage you choose without question."

"O-Okay then…" She then glanced at the numerous passageways before pointing to one facing their East Side. "Let's go to that one then."

The one she chose was surprisingly the direct opposite passageway of the one that Crimson Heart had used to test the distance and sound.

What made Crimson Heart start to believe she was being labeled as the jinx was how fast Xu Feng agreed to it.

"Very well, that passage it is." Xu Feng clasped his hands and readily walked toward there.

Speechless, Crimson Heart didn't know how to feel in this kind of situation. Never once had she ever been isolated like this before.

Meanwhile, Carmen gave her one funny look before following Xu Feng.

"Wait for me, Guild Leader!" She called out, telling him that he was walking too fast.

"Ha, my bad, I just wanted us to find an exit quickly." Xu Feng chuckled softly, but those with a keen perspective on things would know what he truly meant.

Since Crimson Heart was the jinx, then wherever she stayed, bad luck would continue to fester. The only escape path was to get far away from her and the place she was in to remain safe and sound.

'What kind of discrimination is this?' Crimson Heart twitched her lips, finding Xu Feng to be overly superstitious.

She shook her head and quickly followed behind them. For now, sticking together was better than trying to act cool and go solo.

As she entered the East Passageway, Crimson Heart heard the whispering of Carmen who was previously blocked off because of the special environment.

"Guild Leader, I think Crimson Heart is going to follow us. Shall we rush ahead and then change pathing if there's one?" Carmen inquired.

"Hmm, that's not a bad idea." Xu Feng nodded his head. "I was indeed blind previously to want to recruit her to the guild. Luckily, your luck was still shining brightly and helped prevent this plague from joining our guild."

"Hehe, do I deserve a reward then?"

"Sure, here's a silver coin."

"Guild Leader!!!" Seemingly infuriated, Carmen continued, "How could you give me the jinx's money? I want another one."

Amidst their soft conversation, following shortly behind was Crimson Heart, who had her buttons repeatedly pressed by these two.

'I was seriously mistaken about them!' She cursed silently, took a deep breath, and rushed forward, clearly wanting to confront them.
