This was the first thing Alex saw after he slayed the silver-haired lady, causing him to frown.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

'The Glimmering Empress?'

Who was that?

That was what he was confused about, but as he saw the second option, he soon understood who it was.

The system used to be a living entity; Alex knew that much from her behavior, and from the way she carried herself, he was sure that she was someone with power and authority.

Who would've thought that she used to be an empress?

That explains why she was so sensitive toward any negative expression shown to her.

Alex then clicked on the expand option, causing a long list of abilities and memories that the silver-haired lady had to appear in front of Alex's eyes.

'That's... a lot.'

Alex muttered in amazement as he looked at the long array of abilities displayed in the additional information tab.

But then his finger moved toward the second option—one that his instincts were urging him to open, and the moment he did it, his eyes widened.

His eyes quivered and his lips parted as his gaze turned toward Sophia.

"H-Hey, is this...?"

He knew what it was, but he still asked as it was just that unbelievable.

"Yes, it is."

Sophia, on the other hand, just chuckled as she saw the sheer amount of elation her one nod provided Alex with.

It was as if he had received the best gift he could ask for.

There were many functions of the system, but he wasn't going to keep them as he already had a similar functioning ability for each of them.

But this one ability...

He just couldn't calm his beating heart at the sight of it.

"You were the one who didn't want to use your all-seeing eyes to make it all more interesting, and I didn't want to spoil the surprise.

But look at you now, so engrossed in the skill that you aren't even looking at me—"

Sophia smirked, trying to make Alex feel guilty about ignoring her, only to have her words stuck in her throat as Alex vanished from the spot.

'D-Did he just…?'

Sophia, with a face clearly showing a stupified expression, kept staring where Alex was right now.

She couldn't believe that Alex would leave the company of a woman like her just for a skill that he could buy from the store that his system had.

But as she recalled the ability's description, she sighed inwardly.

*Swoosh*

Alex, who was way too excited to sit still, hurriedly willed himself to be sent out of the system space, and the next second he found himself in the same spiral space as the one he came in from.

The next thing he saw was the confused, shocked, horrified, and painful look on Lokiath's face, and both of them stared at each other for a while.

*Shiver*

Lokiath, who saw Alex's grin, couldn't help but tremble.

The look on Alex's face was that of pure happiness, but for Lokiath, it was worse than the cold look he saw a moment ago.

His worry about his system not responding to him momentarily went out.

Right now, he felt like that happy grin was present on Alex's face because something had been stolen from him.

"You don't know how much of a help you have been to me; in just a second, you changed your image of an enemy to an image of a fortune-bringing enemy—one that would bring me a lot of good things."

Alex, on the other hand, inched closer to Lokiath.

With his mission complete, and Lokiath's life in his hand, he finally could use his all-seeing eyes on Lokiath.

It was not like there was a condition disabling him from doing that before, it was just that he didn't want to go back on what he had decided to do.

But as soon as he saw Lokiath's skill set, he was like...

'Meh...'

None of them interested him anymore, maybe because he already had something a lot more valuable than these measly abilities of the still-developing protagonist.

"Wh-What do you m-mean?

I-I would never dare to imagine myself as your enemy, my lord!"

Lokiath, unlike Alex, was panicking inwardly as he heard Alex's words.

'Enemy?'

'What enemy? Wasn't I kidnapped for a silly game that this mf wanted to play??'

'Why would I be foolish enough to make the demon lord my enemy right now?!'

Those types of questions swarmed the poor protagonist's mind as he stared at Alex with an unconvinced expression.

He did want to kill Alex and make Luna him, but that was his final plan for the demon empire; it was for the time when he already had enough of the demon empire on his side that even the demon generals would have no choice but to side with him.

But all of this was happening a bit too soon!

He wasn't even strong enough to survive a single serious slap from Alex.

Alex, however, just shrugged his shoulders.

"The way your eyes looked at Luna was enough to make me want to torture you to eternity..."

Alex's expression turned frosty as his words sounded like a growl, freezing Lokiath in his spot, his eyes quivering and so were his lips; the expression Alex had right now was the coldest he had ever seen.

It was as if he was not even a living being who had emotions, he was just an empty shell who knew nothing other than killing.

The moment Lokaith heard Alex's words, and the moment they settled in, he realized that he had fucked up.

He should've practiced caution while staring at Luna and shouldn't have made his intentions so obvious.

Lokiath, who had now matured a lot more than he was on the day of all, could easily see why Alex was so angry, but he couldn't go back now.

All he could do was try to control his bladder while stopping his body which was trembling like never before.

'S-System... help me...

I-I'm going to die if you don't.'

All he could do was turn toward the only support he had, the only being that gave him a little sense of security, but...

[....]

There was no response from the system's side.

He could feel the system was still there, he could even call out to his status window, but that was all, he couldn't see a thing on the display.

No stats, no abilities, no points, nothing.

It was as if the system's life had been sucked out.

'H-Hey, s-syetem?

I-I really need your... help.'

But Lokiath still went on, wanting to try his luck and hoping that it might bear fruit soon, only to be disappointed.

'Come on, system—'

He tried to call out the system again, but just then, under his horrified eyes, he saw the cold look on Alex's face disappearing in an instant, being replaced by a friendly smile.

"But then you brought something to me—something that I needed a lot right now—so I changed my mind.

I won't do what I was going to do before, I will set you free of all of this, Drake Mustard."

Alex spoke with a smile as he placed his palm on the guy's forehead; the mere touch of Alex's caused the guy's body to jerk in fright.

But as soon as he took in the words Alex spoke, his body relaxed.

'H-Hey system, I-I think I won't die, for now—'

Lokiath, who didn't even know what had happened to the system, and where it had gone, continued to talk to it, wanting to not go insane from all of this tension.

Right now, he was as relieved as he could be.

The bliss he felt right now was far more than the euphoria he felt when he ejaculated inside of the real Lokiath's mother or any other NTR he had committed.

But then something clicked in his mind, causing his thoughts to halt.

'—what did he call me just now?'

His trembling gaze then turned toward Alex, whose face now had a cryptic smile, causing his eyes to widen.

'D-Did he just call me by my real name—!'

His words, however, were again cut short as a wisp of silver mass of energy tinged with black sparks left Alex's fingers, directly touching the guy's bare forehead, and disintegrating it.

In just a second, the second protagonist that Alex met, crumbled into nothingness, gone forever.

"Thank you for the gift."

Alex, who had an emotionless look in his eyes, chuckled as he stared at the iron slab that he used to bind Lokiath, causing the air around him to tremble.

[Poor guy... For a second, he must've thought that he was really getting his life spared, only to leave the world the moment he realized the truth.]

Sophia, who heard his words, just sighed while shaking her head, causing Alex to shrug before he zapped away from there.
