Chapter 118 The Time Is Ticking
'…' Instead of the expected cheers, an awkward silence spread through the area, causing Lucian to frown.
'Shouldn't they be happy that my restaurant is open for business again?'
Experience tales with empire
As Lucian was puzzled by the weird atmosphere, he suddenly felt a tug on his chef's jacket.
"Big Brother Lucian, even if you're in the mood to cook, It doesn't mean that they can eat your food today," Lily said, tugging his shirt with a pout on her face. After what her Big Brother Lucian said, it was already good enough that his customers were not crying. After all, his words were no different than teasing them.
Unbeknownst to Lily, Lucian had meant to tease them.
"Oh." Lucian blinked, acting like he just remembered his restaurant rule — each dish can only be ordered once a day by each customer.
"This… Isn't this too cruel?" Li Yong felt like crying. "We didn't try to harm him! It was that bastard cripple!"
"Amitabha! Chef Lucian is merciless!" Anselm shook his head with his palms clasped in front of him.
"This is what Chef Lucian is like," Garrett said bitterly. "If you two want to continue eating Chef Lucian's food, you should quickly get used to his eccentric personality."
Fenwick and the rest of the Lions Liver members nodded their heads, agreeing with Garrett's words wholeheartedly. Lucian had a propensity to tease and step on others, especially when they were down.
"Remember to arrive early tomorrow if you want to eat my dishes." Lucian shrugged, ignoring the resentful and bitter looks cast his way.
"Oh, don't forget to bring your Mana Stones," Lucian added, grinning.
"Haah." After a collective sigh and twitching eyelids, they soon began making their way back to their tents. As much as they were addicted to Chef Lucian's food, they were still Mages. For Mages, it was imperative they continued increasing their Mage Ranks.
Soon, the only ones left were Lucian, Garm, Albert, James, and of course, Lily, who would only leave if her Big Brother Lucian told her.
As for the guards, they had long since returned to patrolling.
"If you want to see why I'm valued by the Orchard Family, follow me." Lucian chuckled.
Without so much as another glance at Garm, Lucian entered his restaurant, followed by Lily excitedly skipping in.
"James, how good is his food? Is it comparable to the Harmony City's Dragons Feast Restaurant?" Garm asked after Lucian disappeared into his restaurant.
Albert was also quite curious, so he moved a little closer. To Mages, distance was almost illusory, but for some reason, he felt the need to get closer. It was as though what he was about to hear should be kept a secret.
James chuckled and squinted his perpetually narrowed, beady eyes even more.
"Sir Garm, if Senior wasn't better than the chefs at Dragons Feast Restaurant, how would he be part of the Orchard Family?" He said with a shake of his head.
"Do you think I look like a fool?" Garm squinted his eyes dangerously.
If James did not have self-control, he would have blurted out the word, 'yes'. Garm was a fool and it was as plain as day for anyone to see. Instead, he chuckled, ignoring that his obvious lie had been seen through, he continued, "Haha, the chefs at Dragons Feast Restaurant are not even qualified to breathe the same air as Senior.
If Senior said he was the number one chef on Aetheria Continent, I would be willing to believe it."
His words were spoken with such confidence that it took Garm and Albert by surprise.
What did it mean to be the number one chef on the Aetheria Continent? Honestly, they did not know. But they did know for someone part of the great Orchard Family to say such words, it held absolute weight. As one of the strongest families on Arcadia, their chefs were the best of the best. Had it been any other person to say those words, they would have scoffed at them.
But the words had been said by James Orchard!
Garm was silent for a few moments. After an audible gulp, he said, "Now, I'm looking forward to his dishes even more."
After seeing his massive, handsome, peak male physique, anyone could tell he enjoyed eating.
"Let's go," Garm said with a hungry look and entered the restaurant.
Albert followed after his Master, while James slowly walked in while his thoughts were preoccupied with how to recruit Lucian.
What could make someone as strong as Lucian agree to join the Orchard Family or at least help him become the next Family Head?
Beauty?
With that perpetually indifferent face of his, James quickly ruled out the honey trap strategy. He only had eyes for his waitress!
Protection?
Did someone like him, who could make a Mana King Realm Mage tremble need protection?
Mana Stones?
Even the strongest Mages required Mana Stones to increase their Mana Pool. But he doubted Lucian lacked Mana Stones and even if he did, with his prices, he would be rich in no time.
'What do I have that Senior doesn't have? What can only I provide?' James frowned. He felt the window of time was closing. With Senior's cooking ability, sooner or later, his fame would spread to the ears of powerful Mages with immense backgrounds. Therefore, he had to recruit him before that happened.
Just Garm alone was a threat to his future!
While James thought of a plan to recruit Lucian, Garm and Albert, were in a daze after hearing a mechanical voice in their heads.
*Ahem*
After a few seconds, Lily became tired of waiting for them, so she loudly coughed, waking them up from their daze.
"Welcome to Transcendence! Please follow me to your table!" Lily said with a huff. She did not have a good impression of Garm. He had actually dared attempt to harm her Big Brother Lucian.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
It was a grave sin!
Garm, Albert, and James nodded and followed her to a table.
On the way, Albert looked at the blurry figure of the waitress and said to his Master and James via Voice Transmission with a bit of astonishment, [What a powerful Concealment Skill. Does Sir James know what the waitress's identity is?]
What do you think?
