CHAPTER 49 - Another Heroine?
Alex kept staring at Thorin's back, seeing him running farther and farther away. He was clearly in a hurry, and although his movements still seemed funny, Alex wasn't smiling anymore.
[Alex...]
Sophie's voice was heard in his head; it was as if she was reminding him of something, and he nodded his head.
'I know...'
He could feel the presence of the person who had been listening to his chat with Thornin moving away in panic and hurry. They seemed to have realized that they had heard something they weren't supposed to hear.
Alex, who had felt their presence from the start, hadn't made a move before only because he didn't want Thorin to know about his real personality just yet. That guy, Thorin, hated violence after all.
But now, with him gone, Alex didn't have to control anymore.
With a cold gleam flashing past his eyes, he zoomed in the direction this person had run off to.
This person had been sneaking around him for a while, but he had ignored them as they had done no harm to him, and his people were still trying to figure out which organization this person belonged to since no one with zero backing would try to sniff things around him.
But not anymore was he going to let it be. That person might be able to feel it as well since Alex, although just for a second, had shown killing intent when he felt that person trying to take out a recording device.
If not for Sophie keeping an eye on things and telling him that this person wasn't trying to record anything now, then Alex would've just taken care of this person right in front of Thorin.
Step-Step-Step-Step
As Alex neared this person, who, with a lot of effort, tried to rush forward at breakneck speed, moving toward one of the academy's peaks, which somehow turned out to be the third peak, the one that Alex lived in, making Alex frown.
'A person from third year...?' He slowed down as a certain thought flashed in his head, making his eyes widen a bit.
'Is it her?' He questioned Sophie, who, hearing his question, replied instantly.
[Yes. It is her, and for some reason, she had set her eyes on you...]
Her voice sounded a bit down as she replied to Alex's words, and Alex, who felt her emotions turning depressed again, paused in his tracks and sighed.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
'You know that I love you, right?' He questioned her again, and Sophie, who heard that question, soon just shook her head, waving off the depressing thoughts about not being of more help, and replied with a smile that Alex could imagine on her face the moment he heard her voice.
[Yes, and I love you more than that.]
Alex, chuckling at her words, continued to rush forward, keeping track of the person—who was revealed to be a woman—he was following.
He could clearly guess why Sophie had turned a bit dejected because it happened many times already. All because Sophie, having the power and knowledge, couldn't use it to help Alex much.
Sophie knew almost everything, even the tiniest of things going on in the world, but there was a restriction placed on her. No matter how hard or pressing the situation gets, she isn't supposed to reveal anything until Alex has cracked almost all of it by himself.
But just as both Alex and Sophie were talking among themselves, Alex had already reached the girl's place. Unlike Alex's mansion, she lived in a simple room created among the many caves on this peak.
Alex kept his eyes on her as she walked toward her cave's door, reaching out to it, but just then...
Woosh
Alex had to duck down in a hurry as the girl snapped her head toward him, her black eyes staring into the trees among which he was hiding. Alex, from the bush, peeked out, trying to see what she was doing, only to find out that she had already entered her cave house.
'She was probably just looking around to make sure that she wasn't being followed.' He muttered to himself as he recalled how cautious she was in the original novel.
[Probably...]
Even Sophie thought the same, though not entirely sure.
She knew everything going around the world, sure. But she wasn't someone who could read people's minds. So, right now, just like Alex, she could just shoot an arrow in the air.
With cautious steps, Alex moved toward her cave, his eyes squinted, ready to counter any traps placed in the surroundings, only to frown as he encountered none.
'She's trying to make me lower my guard.' Alex concluded that as he saw how things were going, his body, instead of relaxing like the girl had hoped for, grew tense.
He knew that the girl from the story wouldn't make a mistake as basic as forgetting to activate the traps in the area. This simply meant that she had intentionally let loose, not activating the trap.
[She knows that she was followed.]
Sophie, just as cautious as Alex, spoke in his head, making him nod his head.
'And she knows that I'm stronger than her.' Alex added with a serious expression. He knew he was stronger than this girl—way stronger. But this girl had something that could harm him, kill him even if used perfectly; that was the only reason he hadn't killed her yet.
If she were not one of the heroines of the novel, he would've killed her way before she entered the lodging area.
Yes, she was a heroine, and although not one that was strong enough or ranked high enough to be compared with Mira, she was still someone who was supposed to become one of the biggest supporters for Ben until he had reached the higher power system.
Huhhh
As he reached close to the door, Alex took a deep breath, and with his eyes closed, he touched the wall, trying to sense her presence, using another ability he had bought from the system. It was a sensory ability called earth sense—an ability that sends out vibrations that could sense anything as long as it was directly or indirectly touching the earth.
But...
'I expected it, but still, I'm surprised to discover that she has another artifact strong enough to block a heroic-ranked ability.' Shaking his head in defeat, Alex sighed and moved his hand away from the wall.
'Well, I wanted to not make my presence obvious, but I guess I can only risk it now.' With those words going on in his head, he waved his hand downward, and as he did...
Boom
A pressure of 7X gravity descended on anything and everything within the room, and soon...
"Ghhh!!"
Alex heard a pained groan, making his expression solemn. Should he believe that the girl was immobilized?
Boom
He didn't believe it. She was one of the heroines; there was no way that much would be enough, making him increase the pressure to 10 times the normal gravity, and the moment he did it...
"GAHHHHHH!!!"
He heard an unmistakable agonized scream, one that couldn't be mimicked, making a smile bloom on his face, 'Now that's something that I can believe in.'
With that thought, he finally kicked open the door and entered the room.
