Nightmare Mythos

Chapter 181 Retired Bombing Squad Lieutenant

Their vehicle finally managed to safely travel through the nearby roads and cities and came to the nearby Army Base just as Desmond had planned.

Leaving their vehicle, Cesar saw a scene that should've happened after he graduated from the Academy.

It was an Army Base.

The strict fields and metal fences with soldiers roaming around the area are easily spotted. The noise was controlled and a sense of respect for superiors was apparent. Even though it was only the base, one can say the management has been superb and can be proudly called a base.

"Follow me,"

Cesar and the rest followed Desmond behind. Arnold, who was eager to come back to the Academy, didn't have any choice left but to also follow someone now that he was under their custody.

Even though it was clear that they had different organizations, Arnold would want to be respectful to Desmond if he wanted to borrow one of his vehicles to return.

To Academy's rankings, a General rank is akin to being an Administrator. Being General is second highest ranking in the Army, and Desmond who looked very young to be able to acquire that position wasn't something to ignore.

Finally, Desmond led the rest of the group to a gathering chambers. A circular table and seats and table were placed around, making it look like a real-time strategy room for their future plans.

And that's what they are about to do.

"Looks like the papers I requested is here," Desmond stated to himself as his gaze shifted towards the stacks of sealed documents that were gathered in the middle of the table.

Sitting down at the commander's table, Desmond grabbed the document, and tore the seal down before reading what it stored inside. The rest just sat down whenever they saw fit and waited for Desmond's words to come.

Finally, after a few minutes, Desmond began to give statements, "What I've read just now is the people behind the Revolutionary Army. The ones spotted at the city's attack is right in my hands now. And the one that bombed City of Wheels, is no other than Lieutenant Oliver, a retired soldier of the Army,"

He paused, "All of his squad members, private and sergeants were with him as well."

Vin formed a frown, "Are you talking about the bombing squad and their renowned leader Oliver Auk?"

Desmond nodded, "That is certainly the same person. You recognized this guy?" Continue your journey on empire

"Ah yes, sir," Vin respectfully put a polite tone before adding, "I once got deployed in the same mission as him. It was the mass murderer in Meadow City, and as part of the corps, we got sent there because of a job that also relates to a Nightmare. After that mission… something just seems to change within him,"

Desmond listened intently to that story before nodding once, "Very good, we'll use that statement to see what actually happened for Oliver to betray us. Now I'll give you the other names that are spotted at the Capital's attack."

Soon, Desmond began to shower them with information that Cesar immediately memorized at the back of his head. Easily as that, their first round of meeting what knowing any acquired information from him.

Cesar easily discovered that most of the criminals who dare to fight them are part of the military. Retired, active, or deserter, most of them came from the Army.

As for the others, they are either just well-known criminals or thieves.

Cesar felt this was the most boring part since what was happening to the world didn't matter to him at all. As long as he survived and finished the things that started, that was all there was.

However, he had people to take care of now. Even if that wasn't the intention in the first place, Cesar already got attached to the people that he deemed important to him.

If they were going to war, he had to be there.

"Now then…"

Desmond stood up from his seat and went to the board where the whole map of the world was plastered. It indicates a lot of signs such as green zones, red zones, and even dead zones.

He then uses a stick to point out their position, "This is where we are right now,"

Then, Desmond began to circle a lot of locations inside the map and stated, "These are the nearby bases that the Army holds which can intercept the incoming attack of the cities from the revolutionary army. As a commander, it is my responsibility to finish this war as fast as possible,"

Desmond then looked around the room, "You people here are some of the people I could trust. I've run all the tests available and I can safely reassure you that you didn't have any third party controlling you,"

'Wow, I don't know how he or the people behind him did it but okay. Not like that matters to me, anyway,'

Desmond who didn't waste a single breath began to give orders, "Right now, I'm going to give you a list of things you need to accomplish. Sir Arnold, you're included as well. After that, you and Cesar can return to the Academy."n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Desmond then looked at Leah, Klaus, and Amar, "You three are to go to Headquarters and inform them that the Revolutionary Army is all heading North. Let them pinpoint the nearby city that will be affected by their attack and begin to evacuate. Another General will meet you there and give another set of information,"

Upon hearing their first line of task, the trio nodded and looked at each other at the table.

Desmond then looked at Vin, "As for you, go alone in the South. The Leaders of the Unified Cities will meet you there. Tell them, it's time to return the favor of the promise of freedom that we had given. Get a councilor from the Unified Cities and bring the figure to me in this city,"

Then, Desmond looked at Arnold before landing his gaze on Cesar, "Bring the kid to the Fountain of Promises. Show how why is 'It' necessary,"

Desmond then ends his given task to the rest as he states, "The guy's left here. You're to be stationed at the city that will be attacked by the Revolutionary Army."

Desmond clasped his hands, "That's all. You may all begin,"
