Chapter 353 Commotion.
Hearing the stall owner's question, Yao Ran calmly answered, "Of course."
Looking at her confident expression, the stall owner smiled and said, "Since you shared this information with me, I will sell them to you at a discount."
Yao Ran, who always appreciated a good bargain, responded, "Thank you, Boss."
With that, the stall owner swiftly weighed the Snow White Tubes. When he finished, he tied them up and said, "The total is 59 kilograms. You just need to pay me 100 base coins."
Although Yao Ran had plenty of base coins, she was pleased to save 18 base coins on this deal. Satisfied with the transaction, she stored the Snow White Tubes in her space and said, "Let's head to the booth to settle the payment."
The stall owner was surprised to witness the Snow White Tubes disappear into thin air. Looking at Yao Ran, he asked, "Miss, are you a space ability user?"
Yao Ran calmly answered, "Yes."
Hearing this, the stall owner's eyes lit up. He quickly packed his stall and asked eagerly, "Miss, would you like to join my team? We really need a space ability user."
Yao Ran smiled and politely declined, "Thank you for the offer, but I already have a team."
She then held Long Yu's hand and added with a smile, "With my boyfriend."
Suddenly being stuffed with a mouthful of dog food, the stall owner was left speechless. "..."
Realizing that it was getting late, Yao Ran said, "Let's hurry up and settle the payment."
"Alright." Carrying his backpack, the stall owner followed Yao Ran and Long Yu to the booth to complete the transaction.
Once the payment was settled, Yao Ran said, "If you come across more mutated plants or meat to sell, you can find me in the villa area. I live in the central ring. Just tell the soldiers you are looking for Yao Ran or Long Yu."
The stall owner nodded enthusiastically and promised, "Alright. I will find you when I have new products."
"Good."
With that, Yao Ran and Long Yu left the trading market in a good mood.
As they approached the villa area, Yao Ran noticed a group of people gathered near the main gate. Curious, she tugged on Long Yu's arm and said, "Let's see what is going on there."
As they got closer, Yao Ran could hear the commotion and angry voices. It seemed the group was arguing with the soldiers guarding the entrance.
"What's with your attitude?!" one man shouted at the soldiers. "We have come here plenty of times before! Why can't we go in today? Do you even know who I am?!"
One of the soldiers responded calmly, "For safety reasons, the community has unanimously decided that non-residents are no longer allowed to enter. If you need to come in, you must contact the homeowner to escort you in."
The crowd froze for a moment, stunned by the explanation.
After the brief silence, the leading man shouted in anger again. "Safety reasons?! Are you accusing us of being thieves or criminals?!"
As his words hung in the air, the others in the group started shouting in agreement.
An old lady pointed her cane at a soldier and began to scold him. "If you don't let us in, how are we supposed to ask the homeowner to take us inside? I think you are just a dog who looks down on people! Wearing that uniform has gone to your head!"
Her spit flew as she yelled, forcing the soldiers to step back to avoid getting a free shower. Seeing this, the old lady became more courageous.
She slammed her cane on the ground and continued, "What are you, huh?! Just a dog raised by the government to serve us! Don't think you are so important!"
At this, not only did the soldiers' expressions darken, but so did Yao Ran's and Long Yu's.
Yao Ran was about to secretly teach the old woman a lesson when Long Yu gently grabbed her wrist and shook his head. Seeing this, Yao Ran reluctantly retracted her vines, abandoned her plan, and chose to observe silently.
Despite the old lady's insults, the soldiers remained calm. One of them stepped forward and said firmly, "We have already explained the rules. Please, old lady, don't cause trouble here."
But before his words could defuse the situation, a young man shouted angrily, "What is wrong with us making a fuss?! We used to come here every day, and nothing happened. Why stop us now? You are clearly looking down on us! Speak! Who gave you the courage to stop us from entering?"
The man became increasingly agitated, gesturing wildly until his hand almost struck one of the soldiers in the face.
Before the man could hit his face, the soldier swiftly grabbed his wrist, twisted it, and pushed him to the ground.
With the soldier's knees on his back, the man couldn't get up at all and could only struggle, but to no avail. Seeing this, the soldier increased his strength and tightened his fingers around the man's wrist, almost breaking his arm.
"Ah!" the man cried out in pain. "Let me go! Do you even know who I am?!"
The soldier ignored him, and the other soldiers raised their guns, aiming them at the crowd. A wave of fear washed over the group, and they screamed in panic.
"Ah! The soldiers are killing people!" Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"What are you doing?!" someone shouted. "Are you going to kill us?!"
While the crowd descended into chaos, the soldiers remained composed, and one of them said coldly, "If you continue to cause trouble, don't blame us for taking action."
His words had the desired effect. As soon as he said that, the crowd hesitated, and the tension eased as most of them left in disgrace.
The old lady, however, spat at the soldiers before leaving and muttered, "Bah! Ungrateful brutes!"
As the crowd dispersed, a few stayed behind. One of them cautiously approached the soldiers and said, "Comrade, we are here to find someone named Yao Ran."
