Chapter 677: Link up

It was as if he had materialized out of thin air. Like a phantom lurking in the shadows, Hiro breezed past him and intercepted the pass meant for him.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Camavinga's eyes dilated in shock, his expression pale.

Though he was surprised, he couldn't afford to sit back. Hence, he immediately began to chase after Hiro. However, he found it rather difficult to do so. His legs felt heavy, almost like he was burdened under much pressure.

Upon stealing the ball, the squad clad in red and white began to move, while the team clad in royal white became frenzied.

The scene at the pitch had transformed in a matter of seconds.

With Hiro on the move, the pitch had become chaotic.

Cutting through the field, Hiro spotted Alvarez making a diagonal run. Seeing him on the run, Hiro could tell he was opening space for Gallagher. Probably, he wanted to take advantage of Gallagher's massive frame inside the box.

Though it was only his first official game with the team, Hiro knew about their playing style. He had studied their game thoroughly after all.

But he couldn't be hasty about making a decision either.

Hence, before coming to a decision, he weighed his options.

In the meantime, he had to hold his ground against the fierce defenders of the opposing team.

Upon witnessing the clash between Hiro and the opposing defenders, the Atletico fans couldn't help but feel their heart palpitate. Though they were aware of Hiro's dribbling prowess, still he was pitted against some of the world's most dangerous defenders.

Hence, they couldn't help but worry upon witnessing the clash.

However, to their surprise, Hiro held his ground comfortably against them. Even without any fancy dribbles, he dribbled past them. With his excellent ball control, he dribbled the ball past them.

Immediately after getting past one of their defenders, Hiro tossed the ball away. With his razor-sharp pass, he managed to find Alvarez who was on the run.

The pass cut through the opposing defense like a hot knife cutting through the butter.

It was smooth and precise, leaving no room for complaints. Even Alvarez couldn't help but gasp in admiration upon receiving the pass.

The ball was aimed precisely at him. It was almost as if this pass had his name written on it.

Upon collecting the ball, Alvarez's gaze turned to Hiro, 'Were you hiding your skills until now?'

He couldn't believe it was the same individual from the training. The difference between them felt vast like land and sky.

However, he immediately composed himself and started to sprint. With limited time in hand, he couldn't afford to waste even a single second.

The opposing defense chased after him.

After collecting the ball, Alvarez began to cut inside. He wanted to stall for some time to allow Gallagher to position himself. Simultaneously, he wanted to draw the attention of the opposing defenders towards him.

With limited teammates on the front line, Alvarez didn't have many options. And if he stalled for time for too long, the whole buildup might crumble.

Even while under sudden threat, the opposing players were quick to position themselves. While the players of Atletico struggled to get into the attacking third, Real had already covered most of the spaces.

Before deciding to pass, Alvarez quickly scanned the field, searching for options. However, he couldn't spot many options.

Seeing this, Alvarez couldn't help but feel worried.

He even thought of finishing the job by himself. However, it was rather clamped inside the

box. Thus, he gave up on the idea of trying to finish the job alone.

With limited options, he struggled to decide.

Perspiration ran down his forehead as he scanned for his teammates. He was already getting close to the line. This further added to his worries.

Gallagher was trapped and it seemed as if he had to rule him out of the picture.

'What should I do? Do I toss him the ball nonetheless?' Alvarez panicked.

Then he spotted Hiro outside the box. Though he appeared to be marked, he could move, unlike Gallagher. Yamada and Camavinga were marking him.

Yet for some reason, he could see a fire burning in Hiro's eyes. It was almost as if they were telling to pass the ball to him.

Those shade of hazel eyes were hinting at him to pass the ball. Though he appeared to be cornered, he was oozing confidence.

However, if he messed up at this point, the whole buildup might collapse. Hence, he couldn't help but hesitate.

Yet still, he didn't have any other choice than to trust his intuition.

Betting on his intuition, Alvarez tossed the ball to Hiro.

The moment he tossed the ball, his heart felt hollow as if he had made a wrong choice. He couldn't help but feel worried.

Now the fate of this game depended on him. Well, it was he who had created this opportunity in the first place. So, even if he were to blow this opportunity away, he couldn't be blamed.

The eyes of thousands of supporters followed the ball.

Both Yamada and Camavinga tightened their defense as they marked Hiro. Leaving him no space open to exploit, they trapped Hiro.

'Even if it's you, you won't be able to do anything now,' Yamada was satisfied with his

positioning.

With him blocking the space, he had a smug expression on his face. His abyssal eyes oozed with confidence while his presence seemed domineering.

Hiro had limited space to operate. Hence, he had to think something outside the box.

He faked his movement and made it seem as if he was sprinting forward. Camavinga fell for it

and got dispositioned slightly.

Taking advantage of it, Hiro opened a space.

However, it was immediately covered by Yamada. To cover that space, Yamada had to get out

of his position as well.

The ball glided past Yamada unobstructed.

Though the ball glided past Yamada, it appeared Hiro wouldn't reach it as well. After all, he was well ahead now. And it didn't seem like he could turn behind to collect the ball.

But to their surprise, Hiro struck the ball without even taking a look at it. The ball bounced over Hiro and fell before him. Before it fell on the ground, Hiro struck the ball with his other feet, connecting a brilliant volley.
