Chapter 29: Killing Kingpin

Chapter 29: Killing Kingpin

In the distance, Scorpion, Doctor Octopus, and Tombstone stood frozen, unable to comprehend what had just happened. Hadn't his mutant powers been suppressed? How could he have recovered when the 1 hour hadn't even passed?

Tombstone, whose superpower made him impervious to weapons, couldn't stop trembling. He stared at the massive, fan-shaped crater ahead, at the unrecognizable remains of the Prowler, and then at his own right arm, which had been obliterated by the residual force of the attack.

"Ah!"

It took him a moment to process what had happened before he screamed in agony. Blood spurted from the stump of his missing arm, and the once indestructible body provided no comfort now. Instinctively, he tried to flee, but as he took a step, he realized one of his legs was also missing. He immediately lost balance and collapsed to the ground.

Doctor Octopus and Scorpion, who were further away, hadn't suffered much harm, only minor cuts from scattered debris. However, they were paralyzed with fear, unable to move as they stared at the scene before them—Tombstone, who was barely touched yet gravely injured by the mere shockwave.

Despite their antagonistic relationships, they respected Tombstone's strength. His invulnerable body made him a formidable opponent, one even they struggled to handle. But now, just from the residual impact, he was left in such a state. Where was his vaunted superpower? His indestructible body?

Realizing the gravity of the situation, they understood they stood no chance against White Hair with his mutant powers restored. They needed to escape—immediately. But just as Doctor Octopus and Scorpion turned to flee, they froze again, too terrified to move.

Gwen watched the scene unfold, even though she'd read about such power in the Daily Bugle. Experiencing it firsthand made her feel the true awe-inspiring force of it.

Was this the White Mutant's true power? What had he been through recently to grow so powerful? Before she could ask, she suddenly noticed the White Mutant standing before her, his hand resting on her head. His deep, magnetic voice reached her ears, "Thank you, little spider. I'll take it from here."

With that, the White Mutant vanished, reappearing instantly in front of the fleeing Doctor Octopus and Scorpion, greeting them with a bright smile. "Leaving already? You haven't given me your farewell gift yet."

Before they could respond, Alex reached out toward Scorpion. A powerful force pulled Scorpion toward him, his face twisted in despair. Determined to make one last stand, Scorpion lashed out with his sharp limbs and venomous tail at the White Mutant, hoping to make him pay a price.

Even if he was fated to die, he wanted to inflict some damage on the White Mutant. Perhaps, with him just having regained his powers, he might not control them perfectly. That could be his chance! His venomous stinger and limbs could still offer a glimmer of hope—if they could hit their mark.

But all Scorpion saw was a flash of blue light. The next thing he knew, the White Mutant held a massive stinger, lunging it toward his head. Glancing down at his own body, he saw his tail and legs severed and scattered around, embedded in the ground. The largest stinger, the one the White Mutant now held, was aimed directly at his head. Before he could utter a word, the stinger pierced his skull, and blood sprayed out, only to hang suspended ten centimeters in front of Alex, frozen in place.

With Scorpion dealt with, Alex turned his attention to Doctor Octopus, who had managed to get several hundred meters away during the brief encounter. Although this distance would be a challenge for a sniper, for someone with Six Eyes like him, it was nothing.

He flipped a coin into the air, and it hovered in front of his finger. Black and red lightning arced from his fingertip, propelling the coin at several times the speed of sound. Before the coin could melt from air friction, it struck Doctor Octopus in the back, splitting her in two at the waist. The coin continued its path for several hundred meters before finally disintegrating in midair.

Alex took another step, appearing beside the crawling Tombstone. As Tombstone shakily looked up, he saw a shadow descending upon him before his consciousness was snuffed out.

Crushing Tombstone's skull underfoot, Alex turned and smiled brightly at Gwen, then took a step, reappearing tens of meters in the air, and began striding through the sky toward a distant armored vehicle.

Inside the armored car, Kingpin sat with a dark expression. The mutant suppression device he had spent billions on had only held the White Demon at bay for a few minutes. Was the White Mutant too powerful? Or had he been deceived?

Damn it! Damn it all!

Suddenly, he saw a young man with white hair standing in front of the armored car, smiling brightly at him. The next moment, the expensive armored vehicle collided with the White Mutant, coming to an abrupt halt.

Under the tremendous kinetic force, the front half of the vehicle crumpled, instantly crushing the driver. Blood splattered across Kingpin's face as he let out a single scream before being squashed, followed by the grating sound of tearing metal.

*Crack!*

With a powerful pull, the White Mutant tore the armored vehicle in half, exposing Kingpin to his gaze. Panicked, Kingpin grabbed his gun and fired at Alex, but the bullets, like the driver's blood, froze in midair, unable to reach him.

Seeing this, Kingpin regained some composure and spoke in a low tone, "I was wrong before. I'm willing to give you all my assets in exchange for my life."

But the White Mutant remained silent, continuing his slow approach. Each step felt like it crushed Kingpin's heart, making it skip a beat. Growing more desperate, Kingpin added quickly, "If I die, all those assets will be frozen, and you won't get a cent! That's billions of dollars in assets!"

The footsteps stopped as Alex finally reached Kingpin, but instead of responding, he raised his hand. Before Kingpin could say another word, a terrifying force emanated from that hand, plunging him into eternal darkness.

Blood and unidentified pieces of flesh hovered briefly around Alex before a powerful repulsive force flung them outward, staining the surrounding area.

With a grin, Alex muttered, "If you'd had the Obelisk, an Infinity Stone, the Casket of Ancient Winters, Gungnir, the Eternal Flame, or the Eye of Agamotto, I might have interrogated you to prolong your life... But mortal wealth means nothing to me."

Then he took another step and vanished, speeding toward the distant helicopter.
