Chapter 104: Vegetables
Chapter 104: Vegetables
Before Superman and Batman could react, Alex stepped forward, mocking the numerous combat helicopters in front of him.
"You want the Kryptonian ship?" he said indifferently.
Seeing Batman instantly appear in front of the helicopters, the soldiers immediately raised their guard, pointing all their weapons at him, ready to attack at the slightest movement.
They already knew Batman's strength from the previous battle, but even so, they bravely stepped forward. They knew Batman was a superhero who followed a no-kill policy. If he wouldn't harm criminals, he certainly wouldn't harm a 'righteous' army.
An officer used a megaphone to speak to Alex: "It's not that we want the Kryptonian ship, it belongs to us! It's the spoils of war, property of the U.S. It will never belong to an individual!"
Alex laughed, looking at the officer as if he were a clown, then asked mockingly:
"Where were you when the Kryptonians attacked? Why didn't you dare bark in front of General Zod?"
Before the officer could respond, Alex continued: "Oh, no need to explain, I understand. It's because they would have killed you like squashing an ant—probably even easier than that.
But why do you dare to act so boldly in front of me?
No need to answer that either. I already know. It's because I'm a superhero. I'm Batman, a protector with a kind heart, someone who follows a no-kill rule..."
The officer began to feel uneasy, realizing that this Batman seemed different from the one he knew.
At that moment, a warning came through the communicator from Colonel Hardy, his voice urgent:
"Abort the mission immediately! This Batman isn't from this universe—he's from a parallel universe!
We can't be sure if he's still a kind-hearted hero or if he follows the no-kill rule. But we can be sure of one thing—this Batman is terrifyingly strong!"
But Hardy's warning came too late. The officer muttered:
"It's too late..."
In front of him, Batman made a strange hand gesture, his long middle finger wrapped around his index finger, while black and red lightning crackled around him.
The Reaper of the Night spoke coldly:
"But I am different. No-kill rule? Nonsense.
I could help you fend off the Kryptonians, but that would be out of my mercy. My generosity. But it's no excuse for you to overstep!"
An infinite amount of energy burst from Alex's body, spreading at faster-than-light speed.
Domain Expansion—Unlimited Void!
Within a 20-kilometer radius around him, the area was covered by Unlimited Void, nearly enveloping all of Metropolis.
With the help of his Six Eyes, Alex quickly identified the targets, marking all soldiers in uniform within the domain as targets for his attack.
The next moment, they were pulled into the limitless inner space. Their brains, in a desperate attempt to 'survive,' endlessly repeated sensory transmission, producing a massive amount of useless information. They were aware of everything, yet could do nothing.
How tragic!
Moments later, Unlimited Void retracted, and all soldiers in Metropolis fell unconscious. The helicopters in the air, now without pilots, began to plummet, but Superman arrived just in time, catching them and safely placing them on the ground.
Batman and Superman looked at the unconscious soldiers, wanting to ask something, but in the end, they turned to Alex and asked:
"What happened to them?"
After dealing with the U.S. soldiers, Alex looked relaxed. Hearing their question, he responded casually:
"Oh, them? Don't worry. They're not in any danger. Their brains just generated too much useless information, so they're temporarily unconscious. They'll recover soon."
Superman sighed in relief—no lives were in danger.
But unlike the simple-minded Superman, Batman thought deeper. He knew his counterpart would never let these soldiers off so easily.
After thinking for a moment, Batman finally asked: "So how long will they stay unconscious?"
"Not long, just a few hundred years. They'll wake up in a few centuries..." Alex grinned at Batman. "Which really isn't long. For an immortal Batman, it's just a blink of an eye, right, Wayne?"
Batman: "..."
WTF?
Are Batmen from other universes really like this? Immortal, stronger than Superman, wielding unimaginable powers?
But he had only encountered Alex so far, so he could only believe what he was told, thinking of himself as an inferior version of Batman.
Pushing aside his dissatisfaction for the moment, Batman began to assess the situation.
These soldiers weren't dead, but they might as well be.
Unlike Batman... no, unlike the traveler Batman, they didn't have eternal life and would spend the rest of their lives in slumber until they eventually died.
...
After wiping out all the soldiers in Metropolis, Alex returned to his seaside villa, absorbing energy from the Kryptonian battery while adjusting to the energy environment of the DC universe.
After the Black Zero event, four gods appeared on Earth: the traveler Batman, Superman, Batman, and Catwoman.
Of these, everyone knew the traveler Batman from the parallel universe was the true god among humans!
While cooking, Alex watched the news on TV. The reporter was no longer the familiar Eddie Brock but a stranger interviewing a military general: "General, what are your thoughts on the four gods?"
The general gave a formal, friendly smile and spoke in a firm voice:
"The traveler Batman, Superman, Batman, and Catwoman are all true superheroes. They helped Earth defeat the Kryptonians during the Black Zero event, protecting the planet from colonization.
Of them, the traveler Batman is the strongest human god and the kindest hero. He played the biggest role in the Black Zero event and is an absolute powerhouse. He will always be a friend to the U.S.!"
At that moment, a middle-aged man from the crowd suddenly spoke up:
"But I heard the traveler Batman used some kind of sorcery, putting all the soldiers in Metropolis into an unending sleep. No matter what, they can't be woken up.
They're like vegetables, unable to wake up, and who knows how long this state will last? Maybe for life!"
The unexpected comment threw the reporter into a panic, but the general remained calm. With an infectious smile, he looked at the camera and said: "This is baseless, false information. We don't know who or what terrorist group is spreading this lie, but for the honor of the traveler Batman and the honor of our friend, we will find and bring the source of this fake news to justice!
The traveler Batman is a kind person. How could he do such a thing?
The soldiers fell into this state because the despicable Kryptonians, in their defeat, used a consciousness bomb. The bomb targeted soldiers who posed a threat to them, putting them to sleep.
But rest assured, these soldiers, injured in the defense of Earth, will not be neglected by the country.
During their time in sleep, all their medical expenses will be covered by the state, and we are already researching their condition. We will solve the problem as soon as possible and bring these heroes back to consciousness!"
The general confidently made his promise, and applause immediately followed from the crowd.
After watching the interview, Alex scoffed.
After being beaten down, they become lapdogs, wagging their tails to please. How typical.
Those soldiers would never wake up. Their brains were already destroyed by the overload of information, leaving them no better than vegetables. Even if their brains were repaired, they would wake up as empty, memory-less fools.
Alex turned off the TV and continued stirring the rice he is preparing all the while adjusting to the energy of the DC multiverse.
Suddenly, he smiled, and Catwoman, noticing, placed her soft hands on his face and asked sweetly:
"What's making you so happy, master?"
Alex smiled and said, "I'm happy because one of my abilities has fully adapted to this universe's energy. Now I can change my plans. We don't need to go into the sea for some dirty fun; we're heading to Themyscira to visit the legendary Amazons!"
"...Amazon?" Catwoman asked hesitantly.
"Yes, they are powerful female warriors created by the gods and live on Paradise Island, a place created by Zeus, king of the Olympian gods.
Thanks to magical blessings, they are immortal, and the island is surrounded by a magical barrier that prevents humans from detecting it.
Over the ages, they've held a mission to guard a supreme artifact—the Mother Box, which is also our target."
"But the Mother Box must be important to them. What if they refuse to give it to us?"
"Don't worry, they'll hand it over willingly."
Alex was confident. Whether it was overwhelming force or Unlimited Void, either would easily achieve that.
After absorbing energy continuously to adapt to the DC environment, his portal and other abilities were fully restored.
While continuously using the Kryptonian battery to absorb energy, his template fusion rate had reached 53%, and when it hit 60%, a new ability would unlock.
But even though the Kryptonian battery was useful, it still couldn't compare to the Infinity Stones, and the template fusion rate was slowing down.
Now that his portal was back, Alex could easily find Paradise Island and obtain the Mother Box, speeding up the fusion process once again!
Without further hesitation, Alex opened a portal, stepping through it to a moist beach.
And in front of him was the legendary Themyscira, the Paradise Island!
