Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 947 Tablets (2)

Chapter 947  Tablets (2)

Axil, Loar, and Wings frowned. They knew Anshel of the Kingdom of Cretea was a fake Sovereign. Thus, his authority over Somuli was limited. Even his Sovereign's Cradle barely restricted the outsiders' level.

Proof of the cradle's low effect was its inability to suppress the level of outsiders that entered Somuli through a rift. Not to mention, the golden net could not even be seen by the outsiders.

Considering this, how could the Somuli's Sovereign expel Dusk and the other Sovereigns?

"You have arrived a tad bit late. That's why you did not notice the surge of magic energy just now," Dusk started after noticing their confusion and doubt. "If you have felt it, you'd know that Somuli had just birthed its new Sovereign." n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Axil, Loar, and Wings were surprised. But they did not think such development was unexpected. Since they knew the previous Sovereign was a fake, it would only be a matter of time before the real Sovereign ascended.

When or how that was something they could only guess. After all, the rule that a plane would only recognize one Sovereign was absolute. Regardless of whether he or she was a fake. Only when the fake died or reverted back to his or her Sage state could a new Sovereign ascend.

It also went without saying, but a fake Sovereign could not be replaced by another fake.

"Let's meet with Kyran and understand the exact situation," Axil said after a short pause.

"About that... I don't think Dark Sage would like me hanging around him."

Loar looked at him exasperatedly, "What did you do this time? Last time, you even used my name to justify your actions the first time you met him."

"If I didn't tell him that, we would end up in a life-and-death confrontation—."

"If you did not provoke him first, that wouldn't have happened," Axil interjected from the side.

Dusk groaned, wanting to retaliate. However, Axil had a point, and so he could only respond begrudgingly, "When the situation in Armakea went downhill, I escaped by myself."

"Alright. You stay here and guard with Wings. Loar and I will meet with Kyran," Axil decided with a straight face.

"Fine."

"Can't I go with you?" Wings asked.

"Stay here with Dusk. I may have healed him, but he still needed to replenish his energy. If Chains suddenly decided to return, with the Sovereigns he brought along, Dusk will not stand a chance."

Dusk frowned, "It's not like us working together will make a difference if Chains brought ten other Sovereigns with him."

Wings glared at him in discontentment. But because Dusk had a point, she did not try to refute him.

"I never said you have to confront Chains and his group. All you have to do is escape. Activate the Long-Range Transmission Array and escape," Axil clarified.

"What about you two?" Dusk asked.

Axil raised her brows as if to say, 'What about us?'

In the end, Dusk belatedly realized his question was stupid. They would be meeting up with Kyran, who was the Void Master. If Axil and Loar wanted to leave Somuli, he could easily warp them away.

"Fine."

"Alright."

Dusk and Wings replied, respectively.

Axil then asked Loar to contact Kyran. Loar might not have openly admitted it, but Axil was positive that he had a way of contacting Kyran. The two were on good terms, after all.

Kyran also studied Puppetry from Loar. Whenever he had a question, and Loar was on a mission, he would have reached out to the latter through their own communication device and channel.

It did not take Loar long to reach Kyran. Soon after, a path was opened for the two to enter Somuli.

Once they entered, their levels were restricted, but they did not sense any discomfort from the plane. This meant that they were exempted from Somuli Sovereign's expulsion move of other Sovereigns. Apart from that, they finally experienced Dusk's description of Somuli's lack of magic energy.

Frankly, even without the level restriction from the Sovereign's Cradle, if a Sovereign entered, he or she would not be able to utilize fully his or her magic. Thus making them only a tad bit stronger than an average Sage.

Axil and Loar went to the coordinates provided by Kyran. Since it was their first time in Somuli, they were still a little unfamiliar with the locations of each nation. Nonetheless, they were still able to glean which nation they had entered based on the coordinates.

The Eidum's border.

Axil and Loar were aware that Kyran had been staying there. Thus, they did not expect to see some Nobles and Armakean Knights mingle with the Eidums.

What just happened in a short span of time in Somuli?

The Nobles that Axil and Loar saw were the five Nobles that Aran managed to win over his side. During Kyran's confrontation with the puppet king, he absorbed the Nobles and turned them into his Servants. Wanting to understand the changes that happened to them after being reborn from the Void, he allowed them to move around the borders.

Axil and Loar caught on to this as they noticed them emitting the same aura as Kyran's Servants.

When the Eidums saw Axil and Loar, none of them reacted. Since they were already aware of outsiders, and Kyran knew some of them. Besides, after witnessing the leader of the Kingdom of Cretea being friendly with Kyran, they no longer bother questioning his network.

However, they did admit to being confused as to Kyran's real identity.

One of the Nobles-turn-Servants led Axil and Loar in the receiving area.

Normally, only those with the border's token could warp inside the room. But upon the three's arrival in front of the receiving area, they were taken inside.

Inside the room, Kyran, Cyneah, Euan, Ames, Tyr, True Void, and lastly, Nachum were waiting. They were all seated around a round table, looking at Axil and Loar.

Two empty chairs beside Kyran were prepared for Axil and Loar.

Kyran already briefed Axil and Loar on who would be joining them in their meeting. That was why Axil and Loar did not show any reaction. But if one asked them how they truly felt, they were anything but calm. After all, there was someone in attendance who should not be there— or, to be more accurate, not in the Lower Realm.

Ames.

When the two were seated, Kyran started the meeting.

The meeting was pretty lax. Basically, everyone there only exchanged information.

After learning what transpired in Somuli, Axil and Loar felt conflicted. They did not expect the Fates to personally come and interfere with Flos's and Obstruction's death. In the end, Kyran thwarted their attempt to repair Flos and Obstruction's thread of life and was forced to retreat.

This was the reason that made Axil and Loar feel the way they did.

None could stop the Fates once they personally appeared and moved, yet Kyran did.

Axil and Loar were not conflicted because Kyran defied the Fates. Instead, they were reminded of some things they learned from the Tablets they had collected.

"You don't look surprised," Kyran commented after both sides had completed exchanging information and giving their thoughts, especially with the matter of the Fates' intervention.

Axil sighed, "Dusk did tell us it was you who killed them. While the consequences of your action against the Fates are still under debate, how you defied them is unsurprising."

She waved her hand and took out a rectangular item resembling a small tablet made of crystal. She infused her magic energy into it and deactivated its protection array. After which, several golden runes emerged from the item's surface and circled rhythmically.

Everyone inside observed the circulating golden runes.

Most of them had their brows furrowed because they could not recognize the runes and understand what they meant— the only ones who could were Ames and Kyran.

But unlike Ames, Kyran could barely recognize the runes. Thus, he did not understand their meaning completely.

Ames wore a solemn expression while looking at the golden runes. She looked at Axil and Loar, who avoided her gaze, before turning her attention to Kyran.

'These golden runes are the ones used by the Ancients. Where did they get this?' Ames asked him telepathically.

'As I've explained, Axil and her faction have been roaming the Lower Realm, trying to gather as much information as they could about its history and a way to prevent the War of the Sovereigns.

'They gathered several tablets containing runes like this one for several years. I've requested to see these tablets previously, thinking that maybe the reason they could not read them was because they were written in one of the ancient magic runes.'

Kyran paused and narrowed his eyes before adding, 'Seems like I was half correct.'

Ames sighed, 'This is the first time I've learned you are interested in reading historical records written by the Ancients.'

Kyran looked at her with raised brows, 'You mean the tablets are really written by the Ancients?'

'Yes. And this one is only a small insert about one of the turning points of The Realm's destruction.'

'When you say Realm, you are not referring to it as the general realm, are you?'

'The Realm,' Ames repeated while closing her eyes. 'Is basically the complete realm where the Higher and Lower Realms belonged.'

Ames paused and opened her eyes, 'No... that's not exactly correct. The Higher and Lower Realms are originally part of a whole called The Realm. However, because of what happened in the past, it broke, creating these two realms.'

The next chapter will explain most of what happened that split The Realm in two.
