Kiss Me Not

Chapter 56 - It’s Raining

After freshening up, Brione went to Mitch's room and had a meeting with the producers. It

went well and did not take very long to finish.

Mitch could not help but be vocal about her concerns once again, "Ah, I'm nervous. We have a lot of offers for product endorsement. Here is the list. I'm worried about how the netizens and investors will react to your relationship with Prince Cedric. You have to prepare for the worst Brione, just in case, it goes downhill.

You have to fix your mind on your goal. I mean not everyone can be like you, successful and yet so pure. You have earned what you have today after a lot of hard work and spent many sleepless nights to get what you wanted.

You've shed a lot of tears and sacrificed too much to establish your name in this industry despite all the attacks and obstacles your opponents and media had thrown towards you"

"I mean… Is it worth it, knowing we are not certain that he is really Gavin? There are so many possibilities to consider at this point of time. What if the real Gavin is still alive somewhere else and comes back for you after a few months?

Gosh! I don't know why I feel like you are really in deep shit right now Brione. And it's the last thing I want you to be in! You must wisely choose right now what is more important to you, your career or him!!" Mitch added.

Brione sighed and calmly picked up the cup of tea Berry prepared for her.

Mitch looked at Berry for help. The latter sat beside Brione and casually said, "Manager Mitch so what are you proposing our Boss do right now? Aren't complications a part of everyone's life? If you ask me then I will just support whatever Boss wants to do. If she gets stuck in the mud then I will join her there and help her get up again. Geez, you're always thinking too much ahead of time Mitch."

Brione smiled at Mitch. She appreciated her manager very much. She was the kind of woman who was always prepared and had a lot of backup plans in store for her.

"As if I will not be there for Brione like you would be. You know my principles…"

"Yeah… Prevention is better than cure," Berry stated Mitch's life's motto.

Brione chuckled and looked at Berry who winked at her.

"Ah, you two! Why am I the only one always having a headache…"

"You drastically need to have a love life Mitch, because you lack a partner you always worry about a lot of things. You see, you need some inspiration to light up your mood," Berry commented with her hand gestures of opening up her fits like a flower blooming.

Brione shook her head while watching the two of them bantering. Her mobile phone rang and it was a call she never expected.

She immediately stood up and walked near the window as she answered it.

"Hello Uncle Damiel," she whispered.

It had been a while since she and uncle Damiel talked. The last time was when uncle Damiel totally gave up searching for Gavin a month ago, declaring his death. He was not in good health and Brione and her big brother did not stop caring for him.

However, Uncle Damiel wanted some time alone and he requested her and Noah to stop seeing him for the meantime until he was ready to face the world, saying he would contact them in due time himself. Losing Gavin, the only family he had, devastated him. And she could understand that seeing her lifeless dead eyes would only make things more bitter and difficult for uncle Damiel to cope with.

"How are you, my dear. It's been a while. I asked your brother for a coffee and he mentioned that you are out of the country for commercial shooting. I was worried that you would kill your health with your nonstop work. Noah also mentioned that you're on a private island right now owned by the Royal Family of country B?"

Brione gulped and answered, "Yes uncle, the place is indeed magnificent, and please don't worry because I'm here for my work as well as for a vacation. I'm trying to relax myself and unwind my heart and mind here on the pretext of a vacation. Uncle, are you familiar with country B? I mean do you know the royal family of country B?"

She saw an opportunity to ask seeing there was nothing wrong with it. Her heart was thumping so hard as she anxiously waited for an answer.

"Sorry Brione but I honestly don't know anything about the royal family of that country. Why? What's wrong? Did something strange happen there?"

"Nothing uncle. Are you at the farm now?" Brione asked, changing the topic. Maybe she could talk to Gavin's father directly in person about the matter.

"Yes, dear. I just came here a few days ago. I called because I missed you and Noah. It was so selfish of me to restrain you two from seeing me. It's just that I could not help thinking of my son whenever I saw you but now I think I've been in mourning for too long and I knew wherever Gavin is, he would not like to see me in this state. It's already been more than a year…"

"Yes, uncle. I will see you as soon as I come back from vacation. I missed you too uncle and it's good that you're doing good now. Look after your health well." Brione whispered. After a little more chatting the call soon ended.

Uncle Damiel sounded like someone who was not aware of the Royal Family from country B. Brione felt her head aching. The missing piece… That loophole… What was that loophole in the story! She didn't even know how to ask uncle Damiel about Gavin's birth if Gavin was his real son. It would be a lot easier if she could ask him like it was nothing.

She must go back soon and find that courage to ask him herself but how could she do it without breaking the old man's heart?!

She was so startled and was interrupted in her deep thought when a loud thunder roared and it was followed by the pouring of heavy rain outside.

"It's raining like what he said…" she whispered and for some reason, she felt chills run down all over her body.

"Boss!" Berry called so Brione turned at her.

"So later you need to see his buttcheeks Boss. I mean if there are really birthmarks then it's not a bad thing to continue since that will definitely prove that he is really Gavin but if there is none you should decide carefully because of the possibility that he is really Cedric and it's very unfair for him if you keep seeing Gavin in him."

"I know Berry. I will try my best later," she whispered before she looked out of the window and watched the dark clouds covering the remaining sunlight.
