Chapter 41: Birthday Party - 4
Chapter 41: Birthday Party - 4
"Are you sure Neville?" Madam Bones asked sternly.
"I am sure. Won't make a joke about this kind of thing. I have been researching about Animagus and very recently, I came upon this new information.
In the British Wizarding world, it is noted that there are only seven Animagi, but I believe the number to be a lot higher. There are obviously many who succeeded in achieving this difficult feat, but they are in the shadows.
Our sensational reporter who loves fame and gossip is certainly one of them."
Nev replied clearly but it made the face of Madam Bones a lot darker.
"Neville... my sweet child you do know that the Animagus Registry is under the Improper Use of Magic Office which is within the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
And by coincidence and this is totally unrelated to me, I do happen to be the head of that said department. So, if this comes out, I will be in a lot of heat for something that is totally not under my control.
So, think again, very, very carefully. OTHERWISE, IF THE INFORMATION IS WRONG, then MERLIN forbid me, I will turn you into a small cat and hand over to my niece to play for the rest of your life."
Nev shuddered at the sweet threat, but he knew Madam Bones was not one to make a joke about this.
"I am sure. 100%. I will invite Rita Skeeter tomorrow and get a deal out of her. You can leave a portkey with me that is linked to your office, or any other place and the vault issue will be sorted out.
All you need Madam Bones is to force the Goblins to open the vaults for just a few minutes."
Amelia Bones tried very hard to not squeeze the chubby cheeks of Neville and punish him but in the end, she failed. After all, this was a seriously big stress reliever and Neville is not helping the cause.
"Fine. I will take a leap of faith here, Neville Longbottom. But if this plan fails, I will turn you into a chubby golden cat and dress you in pink bottoms. And that will just be the beginning." Madam Bones finally left the poor Neville's cheeks alone and went back to the party.
"Merlin tits! She is horrible!" Neville said fixing his face. He certainly didn't like the fact that his face became a stress ball for Madam Bones but considering her position and pressure on her, he had to sacrifice his cheeks.
While going back to the party he noticed a few of his friends were in the garden area chasing after the Diricawl, trying to capture it. Thinking this would be a good game for his white monkey kids, he secretly let them out to play and told them to play some pranks on his friends.
Looking at Seamus who nearly shat himself when one of the monkey kids jumped on him was hilarious! At least for Neville.
Back in the main hall, the ball was still going on. People were talking, eating and a few kids dancing. Even Dean was dancing with Kellah! Good for him! Neville had a smile looking at their clumsy dance, but it was fun.
This was the best birthday he ever had.
But poor Longbottom unknowingly was prey tonight. It was finally the young lioness who made the bold move.
"Neville, would you like to dance with me?" Hermione who had a bright red tomato face asked Neville for the dance freezing Neville.
It was like Neville.exe stopped working.
He couldn't even speak anything just nodded his head and the young lioness dragged him towards the dance floor.
Taking a deep breath and collecting himself, he looked at Hermione. Seriously looked at her. She was gorgeous today. Straight hair, a beautiful yellow dress and light make up. It was like poor Cinderella got her fairy godmother to do some magic.
"No wonder everyone was hovering around you!" Neville unconsciously blurted out.
"What?" Hermione asked in a confused manner.
"Nothing. I mean you look beautiful tonight. Seriously. Come!" Neville gave her a compliment and then like a proper gentleman, held her hand and started a simple ballroom dancing.
It was nothing flashy or intimate, but it was enough to make our young lioness smile from ear to ear. Getting a compliment after working so hard on herself was totally worth it.
The music continued before the song was over. Neville tried to excuse himself from the dance floor but then after the brave lioness, it was the turn of a deadly snake.
"Neville, won't you have the last dance with me?" Pansy who looked no less beautiful than Hermione today cornered Neville before he could escape.
"Sure. Please!" Neville easily agreed this time as he saw many other girls that had eyes on him. At least dancing with Pansy will keep those away.
"You know, when your Nan sent us the invitation, I was so surprised. I never knew it was your birthday today." Pansy kept talking to Neville while dancing in a low voice.
"I am sorry whatNan sent the invitation." Nev was again stumped by this revelation. He still couldn't wrap his head around this fact.
"Yup. I also bought my luggage you know. I think we will have a lot of fun this summer." Pansy kept talking cheerfully.
"Luggage?" Nev was now feeling that this invitation his Nan sent was more than for the party.
"Oh yes. Don't worry. I have already finished my homework. So, I won't bore you with those. Tell me, who do you think will be our next year DOD's teacher?"
Pansy was jumping from one topic to another while Nev was half lost in the luggage part.
He kept making small answers Yes, no, don't know. Pansy didn't care. She was more than happy in dancing and spending time with Neville. She had a whole month with him now in Longbottom's manor.
It was like her parents were giving away in marriage, but it was too fast. Isn't it?
Anyway, she kept the thoughts to herself and just as the music stopped, Nev made an excuse to bring some drinks and escaped finally.
Nev tried to look for his Nan, but she was talking with the adults and keeping them busy and it was not like he could rudely interrupt their conversation.
Finding no other option, he asked pixies to bring some snacks and drinks for Pansy. Somehow, Pansy was talking with Hermione.
"Is that true? You guys will spend the rest of summer together?" Hermione fired her questions as soon as Neville came closer to them.
