Chapter 423: One Man Army

The ground before Harry moved rapidly, forming a large structure.

At first, no one knew what it was, only that it was enormous, almost as large as the white marble colossus the giants had destroyed earlier.

The mass of rocks and dirt quickly took shape. It was a cylinder with both ends sealed. One side aimed directly at Voldemort's army.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"What in Merlin's name is that large thing he is making now?!" James pointed at his son's creation.

"It's like a... wait." Lily was about to answer when she noticed something strange.

The back end of the cylinder became inflated like a balloon while the rest of the structure started to shrink.

The trolls and vampires at the forefront of the army felt an impending sense of doom, while the skeleton soldiers, lacking both self-preservation and fear, stood motionless, awaiting orders.

The others, however, tried to distance themselves from whatever was about to unfold.

Unfortunately for the trolls, they were too slow to do much about it. Only the vampires were capable of moving out of the way before it was too late.

The balloon at the back of the cylinder grew smaller and smaller, producing an eerie noise. The whole process happened extremely swiftly, taking only seconds.

Then...all of a sudden the front part of the cylinder exploded, creating a tremendously loud noise that startled everyone.

Something massive shot out of the improvised structure and struck the dense ranks of skeletons and trolls that hadn't escaped in time. Pieces of smashed bones and troll bits were scattered all over the place.

"A cannon!" Lily shouted while standing up from her seat. "That's a cannon! And a giant one at that."

The projectile, a massive spherical stone, moved with such force and speed that it left nothing but destruction in its wake. With that single shot, Harry decimated nearly a fourth of the army.

Unfortunately, that transfiguration only served for one shot, as the structure was also destroyed in the process of shooting the projectile.

But Harry wasn't done just yet. He had another way to continue the assault.

After the cannonball tore through the army, it entered a black hole Harry had conjured in its path. Another hole appeared near an intact part of the army, and the projectile emerged, cutting through the troops again.

Half the army was destroyed the second time around and the giant boulder passed through it, but even after that, the projectile retained enough energy to make several more passes.

In a matter of seconds, that single boulder had destroyed most of the Dark Lord's land army, leaving only a few skeletal remains crawling across the battlefield. The trolls stood no chance, being too large and slow to evade the attack.

The vampires, however, had survived and were now charging directly at Harry.

"How did he do that?!" James asked. He understood enough about Muggle weapons and transfiguration to know this was extraordinary. "You can't create gunpowder with transfiguration, nor conjure it. A cannon should not work with magic."

"He didn't need gunpowder thought, just having some basic understanding of physics. " Lily said.

"He used compressed air. That 'balloon' that appeared at the back of the cannon, was filled with air. When he reduced the container's size, the air had nowhere to go, so it found the path of least resistance and pushed the projectile through the front of it. " Daphne explained. "I've only learned to make a small version of that. It looks simple at first, but everything must be transfigured perfectly. The front needs to be thinner than the rest to direct the projectile forward, otherwise, it could backfire and harm the caster."

"But if it's too thin, it would break before generating enough pressure and accomplish nothing," Lily added. "That must require immense precision..."

"Why is he using something so complicated in such a crucial moment?" James wondered.

Daphne shrugged. "Doesn't he always do that?" She wasn't thrilled about Harry's risk-taking, but it was part of who he was.

"Maybe to him, it doesn't seem risky," Lily speculated. "Maybe he's just that confident in his skills."

"Bloody hell!" James pointed to where Harry stood.

"Oh no..." Lily muttered.

Harry was now surrounded by several dozen vampires.

These weren't ordinary vampires either. The ones Sebastian had brought were elite warriors, personally chosen and trained by him.

"That was an amusing display of magic, but that wizard won't stand a chance against my elite soldiers," Sebastian said confidently. He never was too impressed by the army that Voldemort had put together, other than the giants. Those trolls and skeletons may look like a threat to the common human or wizard, but in Sebastian's eyes, they were nothing but useless things.

Enkara glanced at him but said nothing. If her master ordered her, she would have exterminated everyone present. Instead, her task was to monitor certain individuals and intervene only if absolutely necessary.

Harry counted thirty-two vampires surrounding him.

"Argentum..." Harry channeled a massive amount of magic into his staff. "Centum Hastae."

From beneath their feet, the vampires saw one hundred silver spears emerge. There were at least three spears for each of them.

While this might have overwhelmed lesser vampires, these elites were far too swift and skilled. Not a single spear touched them as they darted out of harm's way.

A feral smile appeared on one vampire's face. "These little wizard tricks won't work on us—ugggh!" His words were cut short as a silver spear pierced his skull from above, killing him instantly.

The spear had emerged from a black circle floating above his head.

Harry looked at the remaining elite vampires with amusement. "What about that trick?"
