Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 433 New Skills

Shane continued to absorb the memories, and it didn't take that long before they ended. Then, once again, he obtained two more skills.

After a few moments, Shane decided to absorb the rest of the Memory Spheres…

"This feeling is amazing…" Shane muttered to himself after absorbing the 18th to the 21st spheres.

Just like what he had expected, the 18th and 20th memory spheres unlocked fragments of his past life in the A.I. Rebellion Apocalypse. It was an intense memory filled with battles against the androids…

Furthermore, since he obtained Cloud, he became a known figure among the Survivors.

He was in the heart of the rebellion as the desolate Earth reshaped by the Anima had slowly changed with his and Cloud's assistance.

Indeed, Shane's most reliable ally in this ruthless world was an unexpected one: Cloud, the very A.I. core that once powered the Izzet Spaceship in the world's northern hemisphere.

Shane remembered the moment he had found Cloud.

After he successfully destroyed the Core and completed the mission that had resulted in the ship's destruction, something attached to him. It was the last attempt of the Core to survive…

Shane was actually caught by the destruction and Cloud had already gained some consciousness at that time and wanted to survive.

Cloud wanted to transfer to another portable system but it couldn't find anything similar to that. Without Shane's permission, it instead transferred its consciousness differently and attached itself to Shane's neural network, transforming Cloud from an enemy to an ally.

Cloud and Shane then made a deal to coexist…

With Cloud's extensive knowledge of Anima systems, the two of them worked to create safe havens for human refugees and to stop Anima from invading them…

The Anima have taken control of more than 80% of the land, but the rest had become humanity's safe haven.

Shane relived the memories of the first zones they had set up in Earth's most remote regions, where machine surveillance was thinnest. But as he remembered, the victories were always short-lived. Their makeshift sanctuaries were constantly under threat from roaming patrols of Anima androids.

It wasn't easy at the beginning of their mission…

While Cloud could often scramble or misdirect detection systems, there were times the Anima's insistent search algorithms would zero in, forcing Shane and the survivors to abandon their carefully constructed shelters and flee further into the wilderness.

It took a lot of time and energy before Cloud became very strong and threatened the other main Spaceships of the Anima.

However, the main problem about this A.I.'s Rebellion soon appeared.

It was the fact that the Anima had other reasons to invade the world and take control of the world's technology. According to Cloud, they actually needed this planet's resources to fight against a stronger species. The humans were just casualties of the battle between two advanced civilizations.

It was the reason why, even after the Anima started avoiding Shane and Cloud, they were still ensuring that they would no longer take more resources from them.

[ Shane… ] Cloud's calm voice echoed in his mind.

They had just spent navigating ruins, dodging drones, and hacking into abandoned military stockpiles.

[ The likelihood of survival in Zone 17 has dropped below acceptable levels. We should reroute. ]

"Again?" Shane asked in frustration. But Cloud was right. Each hideout was only temporary, and every move meant lives were saved.

It was this moment when the memory faded, Shane… Would only know what would happen next after absorbing the last four Memory Spheres.

As for the 19th and 21st Memory Spheres, Shane still found himself among the Elves and other mystical races of the Fairy Realm.

As he relived these memories, he recalled the toll that the battles against the Vampire invaders had taken. Unlike the methodical conflict of the A.I. Rebellion, the fight against the Vampires was brutal, often devolving into hand-to-hand combat with creatures that possessed monstrous strength and near-immunity to death.Because of this, Shane's combat skills had improved a lot.

Unfortunately, although Shane was benefiting a lot, the elves and the other races had suffered greatly as their numbers dwindled by the day. Nonetheless, his contribution couldn't be hidden among the elves and the other races. As long as he was on the battlefield, the focus of the Vampires was always him, and he would be able to survive even with all the attention he was getting.

This showed how great he was in terms of combat strength.

"What an intense memory… We're lucky that Statham of today wasn't too strong yet…" Shane muttered as he compared the current Statham to the one in the Fairy Realm Invasion. Perhaps, even without the World Tree's power, Shane wouldn't win against him.

Shane remembered leading desperate battles within the dense forests. Just fighting against Vampire Knights was already taxing…

Of course, he would still have a way to win with Cloud's assistance... However, each victory felt too close… The Vampires were only temporarily repelled and never defeated.

Fighting against a horde of vampires would always leave behind a trail of devastation. Camps were obliterated, soldiers were being killed almost every moment, and powerful leaders from various realms lost their lives.

It was such a tiring battle.

He could see it in the eyes of his companions—the fatigue, the constant wondering if they would be the next person to die.

Though Shane fought beside them, risking everything, he could do little to prevent the ongoing casualties.

Under Statham's control with the World Tree, the Vampires were like an endless tide…n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Shane and his allies had given everything, yet it seemed as though their best efforts barely made a dent. At this time, Shane had no choice but to fully utilize Cloud's ability to create a chance to fight against the Vampire's growing army.

As the final memory settled, Shane sighed.

'I wonder what happened in the end…' Shane thought to himself, but he knew that he was getting closer to learning the truth.

The two Apocalypses had each brought him close to annihilation and there were only four more Memory Spheres left… He would definitely learn more of their secrets.

Anyway, Shane soon started checking the new Survivor Skills he had learned. Some of them were new, while the others were just some variants of other Skills he currently possess.

Because of that, he would definitely use his Skill Fusion Talisman.

Anyway, there were a total of 14 new skills, so he couldn't help but feel excited about it. Furthermore, with the level of advancement he obtained, he was able to get more information about the skills he obtained.

As he read through them, he realized that some of the skills weren't all useful in this realm.
