Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 404 Same Tactic

Shane was spooked as soon as he saw the man open his eyes.

The sight of a person with a huge and bloody hole in their body opening their eyes was definitely scary.

Furthermore, with the color of their skin, blood, and the light in their eyes, Shane could tell that the man hadn't turned into a Zombie yet…

Nonetheless, Shane had no time to study this person closely, in a split second, the man's hand shot up!

There was already a pistol aimed directly at Shane. Thankfully, Shane was prepared!

Time seemed to slow as both men prepared to fire.

Bang! Bang!

Even with Shane's reflexes, it was difficult for him to dodge a bullet in such a close range. However, he had a Tier 5 Tactical Vest, which was part of the SWAT Uniform!

Thud!

Shane was hit on his chest, but the Physical Defense that he had was more than enough to ignore a single bullet. It might be different if he had to take several shots.

Nonetheless, his shot might be a fraction of a second later than the leader could fire, but his accuracy was impeccable… His bullet was right in between the man's brows!

Thud!

Just like that, the man's weapon clattered to the ground as he slumped back, lifeless.

[ You have eliminated a Human Survivor. ]

Shane's heart pounded in his chest, the adrenaline coursing through his veins. Although it was barely a second, that battle made him really nervous because of how freaky it was.

Anyway, he took a deep breath, steadying himself as he looted the man.

He was curious if that was a Skill or a Talent just now.

[ Do you want to retrieve the loot? ]

"Yes…" Shane replied while also signaling to Diana's group that everything was fine now.

Then, he turned his attention to the things he obtained.

[ You have earned 30 Experience Points. ]

[ You have earned 1 Reputation Point. ]

[ Loots obtained: Item Upgrade Crystal x10, Low-Grade Spirit Stones x10, Bread x5, 500mL Water, Rare Food Giftpack x1, Mining, False Revival Talent ]

[ You have reached the limit of Survivor Talents. False Revival Talent ( Epic ) was not added. ]

[ Do you want to remove one of your current Survivor Talents to accommodate the False Revival Talent? ]

'Epic False Revival? Sounds cool… Is that how he managed to survive even after that critical injury?' Shane thought to himself before agreeing to remove one of his current Talents.

Survivor Talent: Complete Loot ( Legendary Talent ), Otherworldly Mechanic ( Legendary Talent ), Territory Lord ( Legendary Talent ), Aura Master Talent ( Exceptional ), Telekinesis ( Rare ), Skill Infuser ( Epic ), Petrification ( Common )

"Yes… I'll remove—Wait…" Shane then recalled that he still had a Talent Expansion Scroll and immediately used it.

As soon as he did this, the system notifications had changed.

Ding!

[ You have one more slot for a Survivor Talent. You have received False Revival Talent ( Epic ) ]

[ False Revival Talent: It grants a unique ability to Survivors that gives them another chance at life. Upon death, the Survivor is not lost to the void; instead, they enter a temporary state of revival for 10 seconds. In this state, the Survivor must seek out and claim the life of another Survivor through any means.

This can be achieved through direct engagement or by influencing the outcome of the conflict.

If the Survivor successfully eliminates an opponent within the 10-second window, they will be revived instantly at the location of their demise with perfect condition and a stronger body.

If no Survivor is claimed during the duration, the Player will succumb to their fate, losing all accumulated resources and progress in that life. ]

'Perfect…'

Shane was then elated after seeing the Epic Talent. It may not boost combat ability, but it grants a second chance!

It was just a pity that it was too quick. The 10 seconds may not be enough to kill someone. However, a second chance like that was certainly better than nothing.

It still deserves to be an Epic Grade Talent.

'But it says here that after revival, I'll get a stronger body… Can I abuse this?' Shane thought for a moment. Although he doesn't have any suicidal thoughts, this side effect was a bit alluring. After all, if he found a bunch of people who deserved to die, he could just kill himself or find someone to do so to trigger the Talent, and then, he could kill those on death row…

In any case, this Talent doesn't seem to have a limit, so it should be possible to do it. However, the pain he'd feel was definitely not something he could prepare for.

'It's definitely going to be painful…' Shane thought to himself since, with his current Vitality and Strength, there was definitely no easy way to die. He might even survive a drop from the tenth-floor building, though he might become invalid.

"Shane! Thank you so much for saving us! You were right on time!" Sandra said, feeling delightful at the sight of their reliable Clan Leader.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Shane gently nodded as he smiled at her…

"That's true… But you guys should've recruited more. You have plenty of Zombie Cores…" Shane said as he had to teach them not to be stingy if it was for their safety.

"Right… Just loot those other guys… Looting this leader is enough for me." Shane added. He decided to let Diana and Sandra loot them so they could get more experience and items.

After all, it is very difficult for Survivors with Support abilities to level up. Most of the time, they weren't in the front lines… Though, it might be different right now since they already have Legendary Recruits on their side.

"Yes! Thank you, Brother! I think I'm also about to level up now… This might just be enough." Diana said as she happily looted the others.

Just like that, Diana leveled up after looting her tenth Survivor Corpse.

During this time, Shane was surprised at his A.I.'s message, warning him about another Survivor about 300 meters away from them.

"Mhmm?"

As Shane scanned the area, his sharp eyes caught sight of a shadowy figure watching from a distance.

'No wonder I didn't notice him…' Shane mused as he looked at how far the spy was.

He had two options: eliminate the scout or follow him back to his base. This was the same tactic he had used to kill the members of the Mystic Mirage Clan and rescue a few people.

Shane wryly smiled after recalling this event. In any case, he wasn't regretting saving those five girls.

After a moment of consideration, Shane decided to follow the scout. He watched as the figure slipped away, then turned to his team.

"We've got someone watching us," he informed them.

"Really?! Where is he?" Diana asked, her eyes widening.

"The scout already left. I'm tracking him right now… He's running in that direction," Shane said, pointing to the east.

"Are we going to follow?" Diana asked as she considered if they could do it with just the five of them.

"Yes… I think it's better to eliminate them all. Besides, we probably eliminated most of their elite Survivors. Furthermore, they have someone with an incredible talent who could make those Paper Talismans. I'm a bit curious about it." Shane said coldly, and Diana felt that her brother had truly become ruthless.

She couldn't blame her brother for that since this world was completely different from the peaceful Earth.

Sandra gently nodded as she agreed with Shane. However, she also voiced her opinion.

"Then… Let's see their base for now. If they are too many and have tall stone walls protecting them like a fortress, then we should just retreat. But if not, we can eliminate them."

She suggested this since she also felt that going against hundreds of people would be too much for them, and even if they could win, it would just be too bloody, and surely, there would be casualties.

Shane nodded in agreement.

"That's reasonable. Let's do that."

Soon, the group set off, following the scout's trail through the rugged terrain.

During this time, Shane also gave them more Healing Tokens and even a few Spirit Stones to recover their Spirit Points as quickly as possible.

Diana and Sandra were already familiar with these items and quickly accepted them.

Then, moved swiftly and silently as they followed the spy stealthily… They even used Stealth Power they bought in the Survivor Store.

Then, after about four kilometers of chasing, they came upon a hidden base nestled in a secluded valley.

The base was not as heavily fortified as they initially worried.

Instead of high walls, it was surrounded by an electric fence that would zap any things or creatures that touched its barbed wires.

Beyond the fence, they could see an extensive mining site filled with trailers that served as living quarters. The surroundings were also filled with the sound of machinery and the distant cries of workers.

Shane's eyes narrowed as he took in the scene. "It's a mining site," he murmured. "And those aren't just workers… they're slaves."
