Chapter 315 The Heaviness in Her Heart!
"Oh, about that," Aron sighed heavily as something grave had just happened. "There was news from the Eastern Continent; they have been invaded by one of the demon king's armies, and one of the four demon generals of upper master level is leading them."
Taking another deep sigh, the old man continued with sadness in his voice, "Several small towns and villages were killed. Their king launched a counterattack, but they are only able to keep them at bay for a short amount of time."
"I have talked to King Nhalos here, and he agreed to let you go there and deal with it. After all, you are currently the strongest in the hero party. Not to mention that the rest of the party is needed here, and we cannot afford to separate any of the forces for now."
Hearing the words of the old king, the mage frowned behind the mask, feeling something was off about everything. He decided to play along with their assumption of his power level.
"Even if I go there, how do you expect me to deal with the whole demon army by myself? Besides, the eastern continent is thousands of miles away from this place; I would need at least a month to reach there and a couple of days to deal with the demon army." Hearing his argument, a smile appeared on Aron's face; his words suggested that the man was not totally against the idea of not going there.
"There is no need to worry about that; the army of the Eastern Continent would support you with the attack, and their powerful mages and warriors would also be there. Even all the powerful adventurers from the guild are hired by the royal family for this," Nhalos replied this time, his face wearing a compassionate smile.
"As for the other problem, you can use the teleportation platform of our kingdom to go there directly, but dealing with the army would need some time."
Aron nodded along with Nhalos's words, adding, "While coming back, you can use the teleportation channel from their side to come back. I am sure it would be a breeze for you to take care of the demons."
Hearing their words, the mage contemplated for a while, deciding whether he wanted to go there or not. He wanted to stay for Evelyn, but he also did not know how to confess to her, and then there were the people dying on the other continent that he could save.
Even though he had been to war before, he never cared about the political aspect of it. After all, he had the power to not care about it, and everyone understood that which is why no one bothered him. But now, no one knew about him; since he chose to join the hero party, he would have to face the other things that would come along with that decision.
"Very well, I will go there, but I need a day to prepare." The mage nodded in agreement.
Hearing his confirmation, the two kings rejoiced and nodded back, "You can take your time; besides, we need some time to prepare the teleportation channel connecting it to the Eastern continent."
After some time, the mage left the room, leaving the two kings alone to talk to each other.
*Clank*
As the door of the room closed once again, Nhalos turned to look at the old man in the mirror who was still sitting with the same expression and manner, "Do you think the Demon general would be able to deal with this boy?"
"Who said we have to kill him for our plan to succeed? Besides, he is a valuable resource for my kingdom; why would I let anything happen to him?" The old man asked back with the same warm smile on his face. Seeing the ugly frown on Nhalos's face, he added, "No need to be like that; we just need to keep him away for your plan to work.
Only his presence might disrupt the great plan, so we just need to take him out of the picture, not the board."
"And you want me to deal with an angry master rank mage?" The king of the elves scowled, realizing what might happen when the mage returned after completing his task.
"The eastern continent would be low on resources, recovering from the war, and they wouldn't be able to open a teleportation channel.
Much time would have passed by the time he would return, and I don't think he would care much about the death of someone he met a couple of months ago, and if he did do something to retaliate, you can always deal with him." Aron's eyes shone with great wisdom as he leaned back in the chair with his eyes closed.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Nhalos had to admit, Aron was the most scheming man he had ever seen, even much more scheming than himself.
"Let's just hope things go the way you are saying." Nhalos sighed, "We cannot stop anyone from bringing the new era."
His words echoed in the dark room as the two of them lost themselves in their ambitious thoughts.

"So you have to leave?" Evelyn's frown deepened, hearing the news she was just given. She was still angry that she could not look at what happened inside the room after he entered the room. There was another reason she was feeling annoyed, but she could not tell it to the man in front of her.
"What happened?" when he saw the frown on her face, the mage asked with a worried look on his face.
"Nothing, I just have a feeling that something is wrong these days…" She shook her head and smiled with a tired look on her face. "Maybe it's just me being overly anxious; it should be nothing."
"Should I not go then?" he asked, somehow aware of how she was trying to hide her worries to not worry him. Although the very thought warmed his heart, he did not feel good thinking about leaving her like that.
"Hehe~ Do you not want to go?" Seeing the concerned look on his face, she chuckled lightly before asking back. Hearing her question, the mage paused, thinking whether he was okay with letting so many people die because he wanted to spend more time with Evelyn. Somehow he felt okay with the thought, but that very thought made him feel a little bad.
"You should go." Noting the inner struggle he was having, Evelyn placed her hands on his cheeks and replied with a warm smile on her face. It was at that moment he realized something.
'Does she also have the same feelings as I have?'
"They need you there, and I just saw that the whole continent is being invaded by demons from all sides; they are barely able to hold the invasion. I will be fine, and besides, you can always finish things early and come back to me as soon as possible. Right?"
When the mage heard her words, his eyes shone brightly, and he nodded in agreement, "Okay, I will go, but I need to tell you something when I come back."
"Of course, don't forget I have to give you a name. Next time, no one will be able to stop me from giving you one." Her warm smile turned into a grin, which made the mage's heart thump in excitement.

Looking at the disappearing back of the cloaked mage, Evelyn sighed and turned to look up at the moon shining at its peak in the sky while thinking.
'Now I cannot bear to see him go?' Buckling her knees, she buried her face inside her arms while thinking. 'Didn't I already make up my mind about it? It Hurts....'
