Chapter 179: Battle in the desert (a)
Chapter 179: Battle in the desert (a)
During his stay in the Zachary palace, Whittaker had come across an interesting topic. It was about the forbidden land. More specifically, it's called the dead land or the land of darkness. It's a vast place that lacks mana and is always dark. Never once had the light of the sun shone on that place. Moreover, evil creatures such as skeletons and liches roam that place. However, there was a human kingdom there and it has existed for countless eons. Although an unofficial kingdom, it was still established in that deadly place.
He wondered how they even survive in that place without any mana, how they fight against the evil creatures and his questions were answered as he researched more about this topic. The humans there used a very large number of ways and all of them were connected to professions.
While researching more about this topic, he came across different battle styles and the one he just used to kill the group of Scorpion-Kin belongs to it. It was called 'Low Cost High Effect'. This battle style uses a combination of cheap and poor formations, talismans, and other offensive items to create powerful attacks.
Whittaker wasn't poor or lacking in any way. He was the inheritor of Elder Zachary, after all. He had good and powerful talismans but once he used the combination method with these powerful talismans, a far powerful attack was created. Normally, a Flame serpent talisman is powerful enough to heavily wound D-rank magical beast but Whittaker used a combination of talisman to amplify its effect.
The Elemental Boosting, Wind Wave, and Wind Blast Talisman amplified the damage of the Flame Serpent talisman by more than 200%. The attack which resulted from such a combination was comparable to high-rank flame spells. C to A rank is classified as High-rank.
By using the combination method, he produced a huge change in the quality of the flame serpent talismans. Even a high-ranked awakened will have to turn tail and run away in front of this talisman combination attack.
Furthermore, activating a bunch of talisman was not taxing on his mana pool. They didn't consume a lot of mana to activate.
'Talisman are the most appropriate item to use in the Land of darkness and places with scarce mana!' He thought while killing any Scorpion-Kin that rushed out of the flame with his flying sword.
He was using the telekinesis on blood drinker, letting it fly and slash the throat of any Scorpion-kin that managed to get out of the flame.

Those at the center of the attack were burnt to death in mere seconds but the flame kept on roasting their corpses as if saying that it won't stop burning them until they turn to ashes.
Those who remained alive witnessed this horrifying scene with gaping mouths and shaky eyes. Fear has taken over the hearts of these natural-born warriors and they rushed to each side to evade the sea of flames and flee.
Disorder and panic, the worst enemy of anyone who wants to survive!
Disorderly, they ran here and there with a panic expression on their face; However, the waves of flame chased after them and it was adamant on claiming their lives today. Furthermore, those that managed to get out of the flame serpent range in time were butchered by Blood Drinker.

In the end, all the Scorpion-Kins were charred and chopped until their flesh and bones melted and bleed into one disgusting mess. Right after, the calming winds bellowed from the east after the chaotic situation announcing the end of the battle. It went away as swiftly as it came, along the way, it promoted the spread of a disgusting smell from within the raging waves of flames.
Monster tower was extremely lifelike and one couldn't distinguish it from real life. Scent, pain, vision, heart pulse, strength, abilities, and literally everything was lifelike for every individual present inside it. Even the wind blowing across the grass and other similar sound effects could be heard. However, only the death of contestants wasn't real but those born in the tower can die if they are killed.
Anyway, the death of contestants came with heavy plenties. First of all, once a contestant dies, he won't be able to log-in to the monster tower for the next three days. Secondly, they will lose 1% of their strength and that strength will be equally separated between the tower and the killer.
The scorpion-Kin didn't have mana, soul force, or battle energy. They only had strong bodies and their limbs were natural weapons that can be used to kill. Since their strength wasn't compatible with Whittaker, he received 1 Royal credit per kill from the tower.
Moving on, he currently stood before the flame with a hand on his nose as a disgusting stink that was ten times worse than before was emitting out from within the flame.
The putrid smell was the smell of dead and burnt corpses!
Suddenly, a smile formed on his covered fave as a holographic screen opened up in his vision.
Killed a group of scorpion-kin: Complete
Rewards obtained: 500 Ruler credits. 100 Human Alliance reputation
Multiple notifications popped up in his vision as the flame spread like sea waves and continued to devour, scorch and burn the scorpion-kin to ashes.
He thought in glee, 'I thought that I won't get anything from killing Scorpion-kins. Surprisingly, killing these contestant killers gave me 1 Ruler credit for every kill. Plus, the quest issued by the spirit of the tower has also been completed
In an area nearby Whittaker and the sea of flames, three people ran hurriedly. The sudden appearance of flame has certainly attracted them and what they saw left them awed but they didn't stop running.
It was certain Death if they halted in their tracks, after all!
"A talisman Master! Let's get to him!" A fair-skinned youth that seems to have never seen the light of day exclaimed. He was as pale as white sand and breathing heavily.
"Huff* Puff* Young miss, young lord, it's our lucky day to meet him!" A burly man carrying a huge backpack said as he led two youngsters by the hand towards Whittaker's direction.
'He actually used a combination of 3-star talisman to simulate an attack that's as powerful as a B-rank spell! He is young but have knowledge comparable to Expert Talisman master! I wonder who his master is?' The young miss thought as they stepped closer to Whittaker.
The area behind them was shaking as something terrifying was wriggling inside the sand. They have been running for hours to get away from it but it kept on chasing after them!
"Young Expert, I beg you, please save the life of my young miss and young lord!"
Whittaker was about to turn around and continue on with his journey when he heard a shout filled with desperation from behind him.
