Chapter 177: Scorpion-Kin Desert

Chapter 177: Scorpion-Kin Desert

Taking the trail, Whittaker started to head out of the Evergreen Maze Forest. He didn't know where this path led to but it sure as hell led someplace out of this vast forest. Moreover, there was no danger on this road. If there were any, then he would have seen them. He was using Devansha vision, after all, and even the minute detail of his surrounding was visible to him.

His plan was to reach a human inhabitant city, village, or community established within the tower. More specifically, he wanted to reach the Redcliff City, a safe zone inhabited by human and human-friendly race. He needed to reach that place if he wants to Log out of the tower but his actual purpose was something entirely else.

The Boss of the tenth floor was located in the Rocky Canyon, a place that comes to the west of the RedCliff City. He only had that information. Hence, Whittaker decided to reach RedCliff City to gear up, get some useful items, and then directly head to the Rocky canyon to reap the life of the tenth-floor boss so that he can step into the eleventh floor.

He picked up speed by using boost and covered the clear and open trail with a greater speed. Running and running, a sea made out of uncountable numbers of grains of red sand entered his vision. Up ahead was an endless red desert with no signs of life. At least, he currently didn't see one.

"The Scorpion-Kin Desert!" Whittaker concluded when he saw the area in front of him.

Entered a region with sparse Mana. Mana Regen dropped to 0.11 unit per seconds Noah notified when he entered the outskirts of the desert.

"This really is the Scorpion-Kin Desert. The mana in the air is so sparse that I can barely sense it!" he glanced at the notification and shook his head. This place was too poor for mages and battle master. Not only was there a hard to walk the desert, even the mana here was scarce. It was no wonder that this place was left unconquered by humans.

"Should I head back and take a roundabout route to my destination? Or just charge straight in but it will be troublesome and I will lose a lot!" He was hesitant about continuing to the depth of the desert.

There are various kinds of monsters here. From towering desert slugs to eighteen-legs caterpillar but the worst of them all was the scorpion-Kin race. They were a human unfriendly race and liked to hunt down human beings. They exist in the awakened continent and had entered the tower as a contestant just like Whittaker.

This desert was actually known as the RedMud Sea. However, in the past few weeks, the scorpion-kin has taken over this desert, and they started to kill any contestant that will pass from this place. Because of their notorious action, the desert was renamed to Scorpion-Kin Desert. The Scorpion-kin has powerful bodies that can match up to C-rank battle master and the mana condition here didn't have any impact on them. That's why they were able to terrorize this entire desert.

Whittaker had seen the news about this in the mana net. Hence, he knew what's happening here.

Ding! While contemplating whether to continue or walk away, Whittaker suddenly received a notification. It was a notification coming out from Advance Guide. He wondered what it is and so checked it out.

Jafar Quest: Dear Ruler, I hope you are doing just fine. It's been detected that you are nearby the RedMud Sea. This place is being terrorized by powerful scorpion-kins. Instead of monsters, they are hunting down contestants of the ten-floors. This behavior is unacceptable and a quest has been issued to you to punish these contestants killers

Kill a group of scorpion-kin: Incomplete

Rewards: 500 Ruler credits. 100 Human Alliance reputation

Now even a quest to kill these contestant killers has also been issued by the spirit of the tower!

500 Ruler credits was a huge sum. Rulers credits can be compared to Cryptocurrency. Whereas, awakened world currency and tower credits can be compared to dollars. One Ruler coin can be exchanged for hundreds of tower credit of platinum bars. Alliance reputation was needed to initiate trade with people that were born, grown, and live or rule the floor of the tower. Completing this quest will bring a wholesome reward.

"I suppose I'll have to cross this desert. Now that a quest has also been initiated, I will be able to make up the loss of using my costly talismans!"

He knew what kind of trouble he will be facing while crossing the desert but he was all set and ready. There were various kinds of talisman stored in his rankless ring of genesis and facing a group of powerful scorpion-kin was the least of his worries. The various talismans with powerful defensive, offensive, and supportive capabilities provided him utmost confidence and he was ready to face whatever comes his way. Moreover, the quest rewards were enough to offset the cost of creating these talismans. That's why he was left with no reason to hesitate.

"If they attack me then I won't hesitate to instantly kill them. Not to mention they are the bad guys and killing them will earn me ruler coins and alliance points of the human race."

Whittaker decided to kill anyone who has murderous intentions against him before making his way deeper into the Scorpion-kin desert.

The deeper he went into the desert, the worse the conditions got. Heavy winds bellowed from the east, sending the dust hurtling through the air to cover the sky, forming a thick haze that sundered the Sunlight.

His clothes also fluttered as the wind swept past him. The wind was a obstruction from nature, trying to slow down his speed but he was charging ahead without any change in his speed.

Moreover, if one looks carefully enough, then they will notice that his speed was increasing as time passed. Some while ago, Whittaker has used the Wind Swift talisman on his legs. This talisman is effective for 2 hours and every ten minutes his speed will be increased by 10%.

"Huh?" Suddenly, he halted in his footstep by stomping his right-left on the ground, and at the same time, he poured some units of battle energy in the same foot to push himself backwards hurriedly.

"Kacha Kacha!" The moment he jumped back, a few scorpion tails stabbed the place where he was standing, and right after that, from beneath the sand, a few figures shrieked and rushed out!
