Chapter 170: Life Guide Skill Book
Chapter 170: Life Guide Skill Book
"Hello, Elder Goguard. I hope you are having a nice day. Can you help me out with finding some good books on formations with picture and details?"
After reaching the library of Zachary's palace, Whittaker asked Mister Goguard to help him out with locating some books on formation.
As he was a high-level golem with an artificial thought process, he was able to chip in skill books from magical beasts into its skill slots.
Goguard was the same as a piece of equipment or a weapon in which runes can be in-laid. One of his skills was the best one to locate the best quality formation books or any other books inside the library in mere minutes.
"Young master, if you may, please wait for some seconds," Goguard replied and Its rocky mind cracked up, revealing 7 glittering gems to the eyes of Whittaker, and Goguard then pulled out one of them and handed it over to him.
"This skill book is a treasure I received from Master Zachary years ago for my services. This is like a Monster Tower Guide or a map. It records much of everything and every place I have been to in my life with my master. Young master, you can learn this skill book and use it as a guide on all the facilities in the Zachary palace. You can also open up a map of the entire land of wind with this skill. However, it might be outdated in some areas as some terrains and plains might have developed into huge cities or dungeons." Goguard said after passing the "Life Guide" skill book to the boy.
He already knows that the young master comes from a humble background, and lacks very much knowledge in the common department.
For example, a young noble or royal son will be taught all about their lands at a young age but the same couldn't be said for the child of a commoner. Hence, it gave up a treasure that will fill the troublesome hole and let young master gain a skill that contains more knowledge than an experienced adventurer.
Although a godly treasure was in his hands, the young boy didn't immediately used it. Rather, he turned to stare at the rusty golem and said with some embarrassment,
"Elder, Thank you, but do you really want to part with this skill? If not, you can take it back otherwise I will feel bad as if I am bullying you"
Seeing that the young boy felt bad for taking his treasure, Goguard couldn't help but smile and assure him, "There's no problem as long as the young master is the one using it."
In the end, a single drop of Whittaker red blood touched the skill book gem and he instantly learned it.
Life Guide Skill
Cost for passive effect: 1 unit of man
Cost for active effect: Depends on range
Passive effect: Records the places its owners have visited. The location of these places and their details can be seen in the mini-map or map which can be opened with a single thought
Active effect: Sketch out the surrounding of the guardian and displays it in the mini-map or map. Also, it shows the general location of humans and magical beast monsters in the mapped area
After entering the library, he used the passive effect of the Life Guide Skill, and in the very moment, a Mini Map opened right in front of his vision. As it was blocking his vision, he touched the screen and moved it to the top right corner of his vision. It allowed him to see the entire library as well as the various books present on the bookshelves.
He entered Formation on the locater and pressed enter, and at the same time, multiple white dotted trails appeared in the mini-map. One end of these trails was connected to Whittaker's icon while the others were connected to the places where the formation books are stored.
His icon was the shape of a book and sword as it was also his class weapon. This was due to the Life Guide Skill which displayed the human race according to their class weapon, and if not that then little white dots. Whereas, magical beast were represented by big black dots or a mini version of their ferocious face.
Following the instruction of the Life Guide Skill, it didn't take too long for Whittaker to pick some unique books on formation, and right after that, he went to a comfortable sitting spot nearby the opened window of the huge and absolutely empty library.
Sitting down, he put several big and heavy books on the table.
One by one, he flipped through the pages of the books, and in dozens of minutes, he had memorized all the books of his choosing.
This was the first day Whittaker had been taught about formation. He was full of curiosity about formation. Previously, he didn't learn it because he was waiting to become eligible enough in Elder Zachary's eyes to learn about formation. Furthermore, he was mastering talisman creation and memorizing hundreds of magical rune designs. Hence, he never got the chance.
There were many pictures in the books which showcased how the formation master used formation items to trap high-ranked beasts or an army.
Staring at their actions and reading the details, Whittaker comprehend a lot about formations and smiled while thinking,
"Civilization is based on knowledge. Without us passing down knowledge from one generation to another, we would be stuck in the stone age. There will be no technical advancement and just like old age, people with greater strength would be committing crimes as they wish even today. Similarly, these professions can be easily learned by anyone as long as they knowledge about them."
[Intelligent increased: 3132]
[Mana Recovery per second increased: 15.516]
[Magic Defense increased: 6264]
[Magic attack Damage increased: 3132]
Suddenly, Noah's notification popped up and gave Whittaker happy news. After glancing at them, he concluded, 'This time my units of mana didn't increase. I guess that effect was only gonna work until I was an F-rank mage. It won't work now since I have reached E-rank. From now on, I need fo meditate or eat rare items to increase my mana units.'
Right after, he closed his eyes to summarize all the information's into the most useful pieces.
"According to the knowledge I have just gained, once the formation items are successfully laid out, syncing lines would be generated between them. Once the formation items are activated, these lines will generate a unique force field. According to the magical rune designs drawn on the formation items, the force field would display all kinds of unique effects!
"A defensive formation will create walls around a person, protecting him from all attacks in the surrounding. An imprisonment formation would trap a person. Once it's combined with wander aimlessly formation, the person would lose their sense of direction and wander aimlessly within it until death or unless the formation is destroyed. An illusion formation would induce hallucination to the target, showing them their worse fear or the happiest of memories. It can be used to leave one's mental state in disarray or pull someone out from the pit of depression. However, better than all these formations is the latest Magi-Tech kill formation!"
"The Magi-Tech kill formation combines imprisonment and illusion formation with weaponry magic construct. It only has one purpose, kill like its name. A person or magical beast would be destroyed immediately when facing the fearsome strength of the kill formation!"
"Tomorrow I will check out the power of formation in the monster tower!" He exclaimed excitedly.
