Chapter 139: Price of freedom!
Chapter 139: Price of freedom!
The King of Wrath could only get out of his paralyzed state when the Spirit world moon overlaps with the awakened continent moon. He had awakened!
The first words that came out of his mouth were, "Let Me Out!"
An overwhelming and commanding shout echoed from inside of Shadow, resounding in the deep and dark forest.
"I refuse! I will never set you free not until I have my revenge, not until I kill everyone who conspired to kill my mom and me!" Shadow was adamant about his decision. He will never set the King of Wrath free.
His answer irked the King of Wrath. He frowned in displeasure. No one declines what the king demands, not even its vessel.
"It has been 10 years now yet you're still giving me the same response. Little one, don't blame me for being merciless!" The king said as one of his hands raised.
Golden beams of light seemed to shine from his body as a massive hand made out of wrathful energy formed in the sky. The Wrath king hand clenched into a fist and he punched out.
Whoosh! The massive hand glistening mesmerizing in the flowery sky followed his actions and it straight to the seal of the painting, mountain of beasts.
Bam! Multiple golden waves of wrathful energy surged out of the painting and crashed on Shadow's chest!
"Ahhhhhhh!" A painful moan escaped his mouth as his chest arched up and he felt his rib cage being pounded by a massive force.
Cracking noises echoes along with the wails of a young boy that was trying to hold on to his consciousness with hands tightly clenched into fists and gritted teeth.
His chest burned in pain and a metallic taste tingled his tongue. Blood dyed his white teeth scarlet and even breathing has become a hard task yet hope burned bright in his eyes. Looking at the Scarlet Moon, he internally thought, "In five minutes, the moons will separate and the King of Wrath will enter its paralyze state. I only need to survive till then."
"Little one, I know what you are thinking but this time I won't be merciful at all. Let this king go before I forcefully break the seal and your body to regain freedom. A little one like you will never be worthy of me. You want to avenge your mother but when the time comes, will you be able to point your weapon at him and cut his head off?" The King said.
"I know I am unworthy and weak as your host but soon, I will be worthy! I can't set you free. Your power is the only way I can defeat him and search for the truth!" Shadow replied with a murderous smile.
He wanted to defeat his father and ask him if he regrets being unkind to him and his mother, Binghe Ye before reaping his life. He wanted to see the regretful look on his father's proud face. Furthermore, although Shadow had found out that that night it was his father's enemies that attacked them, he still wasn't sure who those people were.
He wanted revenge.
'For that, I need strength!' Integrating with the Wrath king power was the fastest way to grow powerful!
"Little lass," Wrath said and paused.
The corners of Shadow's mouth twisted. She suddenly recalled the past and her mood instantly turned sad.
"Don't you dare call me that!" Shadow angrily said. The Wrath King has touched Shadow's lower boundary, saying something he should have never said.
"Regretfully, I will have to kill you. You are the strongest little lass I have ever seen in my life. Sigh~"
While he said that, golden beams of light were released from the pores of his body. They shot straight to the flowery sky and joined into one to create a majestical dragon.
"Destroy the seal!" He commanded the dragon, a smile hung low on his lips.
"AHHHHHH!" Right then, the second wave of pain dawned on her very soul. A soul tearing mental pain overwhelmed Shadow and Shadow's body spasmed wildly. Shadow's mouth was gaped open yet she couldn't breathe because her mind was clouded by pain.
Roar!
The roar of a mighty dragon reverberated throughout the forest ground no.36. And, the forest seemed to have been lit up in gold as waves and waves of golden energy began to spread through the grounds, much like flood waves overturning land.
In the forest, melodic sounds resounded, containing a mixture of animal sounds, predominantly those of bird songs and the fluttering of leaves. Animals and trees respectfully prayed to the Scarlet moon and the golden flow of god, hence this song was created. This melodic song echoed throughout the depth of the depth, adding life to the somewhat eerie place.
Soon after, Shadow's painful wails were also shunned by the melodic sounds. Blood trickled down from the corners of his mouth as his hollow eyes started to close.
'I must hold on until the Scarlet moon goes away!' Shadow thought but five whole minutes were left before the Scarlet moon goes away. And, Shadow was already losing consciousness. Shadow was already at her wit's end and the wave of pain which had crashed on her body was disastrous, to say the least. She was bleeding from all her pores. Blood leaked down from the corners of his her and mouth as she laid unconscious on the negative absorption stone.
This time the pain was too much and Shadow wasn't able to hold on. She instantly lost consciousness.
This was the best chance the spirit of wrath could ever ask for.
"The vessel acting against me is no longer conscious and I can certainly escape by using a more powerful move but this lass might die." King Wrath closed his eyes for he couldn't make his decision. For the past several years, he has been living with Shadow. Her hardworking nature has certainly moved his heart yet it wasn't enough to curb the desire that fills his heart.
The desire to obtain freedom.
"Freedom is more important!" King's Wrath eyes snapped open as he made his decision to sacrifice whatever he must to free himself. And so, it decided to attack for the fourth time.
To be the vessel of Wrath, a heavy price must be paid. But, the benefits were equal to the hellish pain and mental destruction that reoccurs on every full-moon night. But will Shadow be able to live long enough to enjoy the benefits of becoming Wrath's vessel or just die tonight?
