Chapter 79 073 Brain Worm's Social Speculation

Bai Zhongqi did not take questions from the reporters, but instead left the assembly hall in his own Iridium Star vehicle. Many reporters wanted to ask about the terrorist attack that had occurred earlier, but Bai Zhongqi did not wish to comment. Afterwards, the group of reporters could only fervently snap photos of the Iridium Star's flying vehicles and then shook their heads and left.

For the C nation, it was easier to let the Iridium Star people fly about than deal with the massive hassle of imposing traffic controls. If the Iridium Star people were really going to cause trouble, they would have done it already. This was also a kind of resigned attitude on the part of the C nation.

The floating cars within Iridium Star City aren't actually equipped with autonomous flight capabilities, but rather, the urban area has a maglev system installed that creates a detached magnetic force channel in the city's airspace, allowing vehicles with corresponding maglev devices to travel in the air.

The Imperial Capital obviously lacked such urban basic transportation infrastructure, so the vehicle used by Bai Zhongqi was instead equipped with an expensive anti-gravity device, or more accurately described as a flying craft.

The Imperial Chancellor directly proceeded to the hotel prepared for him by C nation, which was now completely cleared out aside from essential service personnel, not even C nation's own security personnel were present, leaving everything to the Iridium Star people for security.

It was only after Bai Zhongqi arrived that he realized to what extent the security measures of his Imperial Guard Bureau had been elevated.

Several areas outside the hotel had objects that looked like giant iron boxes, giving off a sci-fi vibe, with smooth flat surfaces and no visible parts, approximately a quarter the size of a cargo container and slightly shorter in height.

The people of Earth didn't know what these objects were, but Bai Zhongqi was very clear. These large boxes were actually weapon system modules, self-contained with power, which could be mounted on some warships and buildings, or deployed on the ground as infantry fire support.

They were officially known as "Universal Light Weapon Support Platform Modules," typically equipped with one 20WM Gauss Railgun, four light-weapon calibre multi-fire channel Electromagnetic Cannons, and a 240-round precision missile launching unit.

(Note: WM stands for Iridium Star weapon caliber unit, signifying power output level, so the comparison of weapons, regardless of manufacturing method, energy consumption, or advancement level, is distinguished by WM. Usually, only large weapons use WM as the unit of caliber, while individual light weapons use the unit WMM.)

Using such devices on Earth, not to mention for VIP defense, the firepower output of these few large boxes would probably surpass that of a heavy group army of C nation's Army, even one composed of long-range rocket artillery brigades.

Bai Zhongqi checked into the presidential suite on the top floor of the hotel, and even though he had stayed in luxurious presidential suites in the Iridium Star City before, staying in the most luxurious suite in the Imperial Capital still felt novel to him. However, he didn't behave overly impressed or point around incessantly.

The findings of Sergeant Major and Xiang Fei's interrogation of the terrorist had also been passed to Sacred Falcon, who astutely transferred the intelligence to a handheld device and handed it to Bai Zhongqi for review.

Bai Zhongqi quickly reviewed the interrogation record, and his expression gradually became more serious. Previously, he had speculated that there was a substantial possibility of many Brain Worm-infested humans on Earth.

Now, from the information sent back, the infestation of Brain Worms might not have reached the worst scenario he had envisioned, but it had already reached a dangerously alarming threshold.

What slightly reassured him was that there were not many Brain Worms in C nation. Instead, it was the developed countries of Europe and America that were the main targets of the Brain Worms.

Unfortunately, the captured Brain Worm held a low status and possessed limited information. It was unaware of the complete structure of the Brain Worm society, unclear about any conspiracies being brewed by the upper echelons of Brain Worms, and even unaware of the identities of the remaining nine Brain Worm-infested individuals lurking within the Imperial Capital.

The racial communication network of the Brain Worms, which operated through electromagnetic waves, had a rather limited range, Linyin speculated it to be a few meters at minimum and not exceeding a few thousand meters at most.

Moreover, their communication mechanism was also quite peculiar; this huge electromagnetic wave communication network was akin to a human-like anonymous network, where unless a Brain Worm voluntarily exposed itself, the information it spread through this network could not be traced back to the individual.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Linyin deduced from this that Brain Worms are an organism with a strong sense of community; however, when it comes to forming social structures, they exhibit an extreme degree of individuality.

If such a species were to form social relationships, it likely would exhibit a certain tendency toward flatness, meaning each Brain Worm would focus more on its own survival and pleasure, participating in community events only to a certain degree.

Therefore, their societal composition or organizational form might resemble trade unions or fraternities, where there's a clear goal, but individuals are not completely controlled by the group.

Bai Zhongqi looked at the report and said to the Sacred Falcon, "It appears that Linyin's deduction is not entirely correct. This Brain Worm that carried out a suicide attack was clearly under the control of the Brain Worm collective. Nevertheless, Linyin's model might not be completely off; there might still be a hierarchy within the Brain Worms.

The one we captured this time is clearly not as intelligent or qualified as the one we captured in Ruyi City. That could explain why the previous one could be a scientist, while this one is engaged in physical labor."

Thinking of this, he felt a bit of regret, "It's a pity that the Brain Worm that was removed from the cranium can't communicate with us normally. The one captured is of too low a level. Let's inform Country C, send this parasitized person to our laboratory in Ruyi City, and let Linyin find a way to extract more useful information from the first Brain Worm."

The Sacred Falcon saluted, "Yes, Your Majesty!"

Bai Zhongqi fell into deep thought again.

Certain characteristics of the Brain Worms gradually became clear. Besides their previously known parasitic traits, Brain Worms are addicted to hallucinogenic drugs, which are also narcotics, and they might also indulge in other forms of human pleasures.

They have a secretive societal form, which is dependent on human society, making the Brain Worm society essentially a secret society within human society.

The secret society formed by the Brain Worms likely has control over certain powers in Western developed countries. Moreover, to satisfy their indulgences, especially their need for drugs, Brain Worms require money and sin.

From this point, it can be deduced that Brain Worms have not only infiltrated politics and academia but also have a certain presence in business and the underworld. They must have been lying low on Earth for a long time, and the fact that they haven't been discovered yet indicates that Brain Worms are playing by human rules, so they appear human.

No one would suspect that what's in the heads of these parasitized individuals is actually Brain Worms.

A point of great concern to Bai Zhongqi was that the situation with the Brain Worms did not attract much attention from various countries on Earth after the visitation incident. Country C did take it seriously enough to conduct a self-inspection and found no issues. Meanwhile, other countries, lacking detection equipment, did absolutely nothing, which was inexplicable.

Not publicizing the news to avoid panic is indeed possible; Bai Zhongqi would do the same and not release this information until he had completely defeated the opponent. But a complete lack of action was concerning.

The worst assumption is that the power of the Brain Worms suppressed the spread of the news and the vigilance towards Brain Worms, and they might even slander Iridium Star, making those in the dark believe it was all Iridium Star's doing.

Bai Zhongqi felt that this possibility was very high.

For now, the Brain Worms posed no threat to Iridium Star and would not disrupt the grand scheme of Bai Zhongqi's Star Alliance. Bai Zhongqi would continue to collect information on the Brain Worms quietly, and once he had gathered more, he would strike like thunder. Completely exterminating this dangerous extraterrestrial species.
