D.E.M.O.N.S: Getting Summoned Weekly isn't so Bad

Chapter 1613 Small Meg Things

--- Kat ---

Meg eventually came back out from behind the cabin with an exaggerated pout on her face, "Really? Nobody came to check on me? I could've died you know!" said Meg.

Lily made a 'time-out' gesture from Kat's lap. "Hang on, before we even address that statement… HOW were you able to say that?"Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"Well anyone could die at any moment. Sure it's super unlikely but I could've died. It's not that hard to understand," answered Meg with a smug look.

Lily pouted while Kat laughed behind her. "It really was that obvious Lily,"

"Why didn't you stop me asking then!" hissed Lily in response.

"Because it was funny?" offered Kat as she stroked Lily's hair around her ears. When Lily started to relax again Kat turned to Meg. "We weren't seriously tempted at any point I'm afraid. You've done a bit too good a job of ensuring you're too scary to casually mess with. Sure it seemed like you wanted us to check… but in that way that was a bit too obvious you know?"

Meg sighed, "It seems I'm getting predictable. I suppose I normally would've been more forcefully or completely circumspect about myself. With Lil Sis here it's made things complicated… whatever let's just get going. Sooner we get back the better,"

Lily huffed but swapped into her Memphis form and jumped up so that she was resting between Kat's boobs. It was probably the safest place to be if she wasn't being held by Kat while flying. Well, it was nice for other reasons as well. Meg sighed again but hopped into Kat's outstretched arms and the three took off.

"Not sad to leave behind all that work?" Meg asked.

Kat shrugged, "Eh… a bit I suppose but now I know I can make something even better so it doesn't actually bother me too much. I know Lily picked up a couple of the nicer fake flowers I made alongside a few other things but neither of us are sure if we'll keep them. This was always meant to be a temporary base…

"I guess if I had to explain it… it's more like a really nice house of cards? Or a pillow fort?" Kat was going to mention Lego but she wasn't sure it would translate properly. "It doesn't have the same impact leaving it behind or having it be destroyed. I didn't build it to be permanent. It was always going to be left behind and I knew that going in,"

Meg let that hang in the air for a while, and eventually Kat asked. "Just double checking but you DID get rid of the crystal right?"

"Oh yeah. Basically with the two together I was able to break it in the correct way to have them both reform out of the metal. Once that was done I could put the metal in my storage ring and get to work breaking the drake crystals down.

"Which mostly consisted of breaking the most important segments and then ensuring those parts couldn't reform properly… which forced the rest of the crystal to donate energy to reform the important bits. Repeat multiple times with slightly different breakages and eventually there's nothing left,"

"Alright," said Kat with a nod deliberately not asking about the lightshow and crazy sound effects. "So what's your favourite food?" Meg glared at Kat for a few moments and then glared down at Lily as well. "Really? Staring at my tits?"

Meg coughed looked away. How much of it was an act and how much of it was real Kat couldn't tell. Meg did eventually answer though. "Um… probably pizza with gemstones mixed into the salt,"

"That's… pretty broad and both weirder and more normal then I'd expect," said Kat slowly.

Meg shrugged while still looking away, "Well that's part of why it's my answer. I like having options and pizza comes in a wide variety. I have my favourite ingredients of course but I know more than one demon chef that can make a good pizza out of essentially everything. The gemstones in the salt is more of a dietary thing.

You can get away with hiding the taste of them better but it still satisfies my bodies craving for them quite well. What about you two?"

Things continued on the second flight like that for a while. Kat and Lily would ask Meg something rather simple, and then Meg would return the question back at them. It was about halfway through the flight when Lily got the idea that that was sort of the point.

*What do you mean?* Asked Kat even as she continued speaking with Meg aloud.

[I mean… is Meg just trying to relax us now? Or perhaps mess with us by keeping things normal?]

*She could also be genuinely trying?*

[Yeah no way to know.]

Yeah in the end that short mental discussion wasn't all that helpful and they both decided not to worry about it. That was one of the main dangers Meg seemed to pose. She was… fundamentally hard to understand in a way that all the other demons they met simply weren't. Well, perhaps some of the one-off encounters or Nira had similar issues but it was best not to go down that rabbit hole either.

At the end of the day? Meg was something that the pair struggled to comprehend. It made her all the more dangerous, but it simply WAS. A tiger was scary for a normal human but you did understand them for the most part. Danger came mostly from the unexpected. A sudden change in attitude.

If you internalised that fact? And treated Meg who could do anything at any moment? It was much easier to deal with her. Especially when there were at least a few rules.

In the end the flight passed without issues. Somewhat thanks to Meg actually. Lily couldn't see the ground at all and Kat had missed the central area because she wasn't completely sure what she was looking for. Meg however, did know and had her weakness sense to point out the barrier was different from the rest of the mist if her eyes alone couldn't tell.

Meg swiftly pointed it out when it was clear the other two hadn't noticed.

Angling downwards, Kat got ready to break her way in… until Meg called a halt. "Why?" asked Kat.

"I want to get us right over the centre. The space warping doesn't seem to extend up out of the mist. Something I did expect, but that also means that we want to drop right down on top of the central dome. Space is less chaotic there and it's where we need to go anyway to let me direct you to it before burning our way in," explained Meg.

Lily mentally rolled her eyes. As Meg started to direct them she quickly spread out her own senses and quickly worked out where the centre was. Granted, being able to tell quite accurately where the edges of the domed area was really helped, but after awakening her spatial sense further something like this was easy.

Of course, Kat and Lily let Meg direct them around, even going to far as to pretend they didn't perfectly know where they were going. Eventually Meg did call for them to head downwards and Kat burnt a hole through the mist. Freezing it in place with her demonic fire and then breaking through.

"Oh right the treants…" mumbled Meg. "We'll need to wait outside for Lil Sis to distract them for us…"

"Or, secondary idea. I can just use my calming aura on them and slowly drift down to the hatch. There shouldn't be anything major in the way and I'll be careful not to clip the trees with my wings. If we don't make any aggressive movements, it should be fine right?" offered Kat.

Meg rubbed her face for a few moments as she thought it over. "Yes… a touch risky because one small break on any of the branches, even knocking off a leaf and it probably won't work… but in theory your idea is sound. If you want to take the risk I'm fine with it. Might be good to know how well this works actually.

If it does work… hmm… I want to say we can extract the people inside with it but they'd likely break something and set the treants off. Hmmm… might be best to just kill them?"

"Why didn't you do that before?" asked Kat, knowing Meg had no sympathy for monsters. Kat didn't either so it wasn't something that bothered her.

"Too dangerous… and it still might be. Treants can burn for a long time, and while we can probably take out the smaller ones the bigger one can likely live long enough to cause real damage. Knowing how deep everyone still alive is makes me think it might be fine… but there is those sealed labs on the top floor and that's worthy of some concern. Hmm… no best to sneak in.

We can always change our mind on this later," concluded Meg.
