Chapter 762: Chapter 456: Nine Lives_2

The more I thought about it, the more confused I became. It might be better to clear my mind, as a strategy might just emerge in an instant.
The Spiritual Energy in the Immortal Realm is indeed abundant and the Rules well-established. Why then, after thousands of years, has there not been the birth of a single Saint Emperor?
In the previous Ancient Secret Realm, wasn’t that perished Powerhouse a Saint Emperor? Where did he come from? It’s said he lived only a few thousand years, apparently after the Master of Immortal Realm. If he really was a Saint Emperor born later, why does no one in the world know of him?
Could it be that he came from beyond this domain? That Powerhouse’s consciousness said that he hoped one day Logan would avenge him, indicating that his enemy was exceedingly powerful, likely above even a Saint Emperor, and he didn’t hold much hope for both Logan and his partner, so he didn’t directly reveal the enemy but instead wrote it in the Book of Legacy.
Because I was too busy during that period, Logan didn’t have time to look. The Book of Legacy was in the hands of the Holy Daoist, who probably had read it, whereas I received a rubbings-copy of the Book of Legacy.
Although it was only a copy, and I wasn’t sure if it included the information, Logan still took out the Book of Legacy, wanting to know about the enemy of the Powerhouse from the Ancient Secret Realm. Even if the copy didn’t reveal it, perhaps clues to help solve the Immortal Realm’s sealing issue could be found in the book.
After all, it was the inheritance of a Saint Emperor. What if it held the answer? Just like the previous Holy Life Elixir, it could be said to capture the creation of heaven and earth, extending the lifespan of a Sanctuary Powerhouse by a century.
Unfortunately, because it was a rubbings-copy, much was missing, and it’s likely that I would have to see the original at the Holy Daoist’s place. I understood that it wasn’t done intentionally by the Holy Daoist, but rather it was a limitation of the Book of Legacy, or maybe power doesn’t split in half.
The Protagonist then thought about the mysterious Strong One he had encountered in the Immortal Realm, who was specifically looking for that Powerhouse from the Ancient Secret Realm. What was his background?
Logan spent a day at the Immortal Celestial Gate. Early the next morning, the Blackwood City Master returned with dozens of people, the strongest group he was able to find from the outside world. Ninety percent of them were Array Masters, and among the rest were Alchemists and other talented individuals.
“It didn’t go very smoothly. I’m not sure if this will work,” the Blackwood City Master approached Oliver Bennett and said softly. He had evaluated these people’s abilities, they were just somewhat better than average. Whether they could solve the Immortal Realm’s Sealing problem was a complete unknown.
Oliver Bennett sighed. In fact, both he and the Blackwood City Master had anticipated this outcome the moment the latter had set out. There were just too few people in the outer world who were stronger than those from the Immortal Realm, especially someone like Logan, a rarity that comes once every hundred years.
“Since they’re here, we should at least let them have a look,” said Oliver Bennett kindly to the group, “Rest here for an hour, and we will go to the Sealing Grounds to take a look. The promise of the Immortal Realm remains valid. Even if you can do nothing, you’ll still receive ten Top-Grade Spirit Stones.”
“We understand.” Such people had no pretenses in the presence of a Half-step Saint Emperor. They respectfully bowed.
An hour later, the group hurried to the Sealing Grounds. However, just by looking at the Runes and the Barrier, everyone was at a loss.
At that moment, Logan explained, “I studied it yesterday. The Seal is constructed using the Rules, effectively forming a very tenacious Barrier. However, which specific Rules were used and how it was constructed, I truly cannot deduce. You all can continue to analyze further.”
“Blackwood City Master, who is this?” the group didn’t like being directed, but when Logan spoke up, they didn’t show any dislike and instead first asked the Blackwood City Master.
“He, like you, has come from the outside world to help,” the Blackwood City Master replied. Upon finding out, all doubts dissipated among the group. If Logan had been a person of the Immortal Realm, they would have had to bear any displeasure, but it was different since he was also from the outside world.
After all, these dozens of people were the elite of the outer world; they were normally revered and even Quasi-Saint Powerhouses wouldn’t wish to offend them. Now they were stumped by the Seal, and here was Logan speaking as if he was more competent—their irritation was inevitable.
“Young man, don’t think that just because you know a bit about arrays, you can talk big here. This is the Immortal Realm. With your little bit of skill, do you really dare to make a fool of yourself?”
“`Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Someone sneered mockingly, perhaps to flaunt their strength in front of the person from just a moment ago, even boasting about how much esteem they held in the outside world and the many crises they had resolved.
Logan furrowed his brows, and even Oliver Bennett grew angry. How dare they mock Logan? Setting aside the fact that Logan was his benefactor, Oliver knew full well Logan’s capabilities, and to him, these people were nothing but insignificant. He really wanted to send them all away.
Seeing that the situation was not right, the Blackwood City Master quickly stood up to mediate: “We’re all here to resolve troubles, why must there be arguments? It’s proper to discuss matters amicably amongst each other. I understand that you’re all carrying a bit of pride, after all, you’re accustomed to commanding respect in your own domains, but upon arriving at the Immortal Realm, it’s still best to be a bit more humble.”
“I don’t want to squabble with anyone either,” the man said as he pursed his lips. Then he added, “Well, let’s continue studying the Seal. Those who don’t understand should just step back.”
Everyone turned their gaze towards him, as he was the one with the highest level of expertise in arrays among the few dozen present. However, after studying the front end of the Seal for a long while, he was still completely lost, unable to discern how the Seal was constructed and only feeling that there was an issue with the Runes.
Not wanting to lose face, he coughed and said, “I’ve already figured it out. The key lies in the Runes. Twelve Runes are missing a few, and if we just sketch a few more and place them there, everything will return to normal. Sketching Runes is a fundamental skill for an Array Master.”
Watching the other party’s pretentious act, Logan initially didn’t want to bother, but after they began to spout nonsense, he had to step in since it was a matter that could truly harm the Immortal Realm. After all, the Immortal Realm didn’t have that much time to waste, so he naturally had to expose the man, to prevent him from misleading others with his one-sided words.
“You say the problem lies with the Runes. If the Runes are the source of the Seal’s power, based on these few Runes alone, who could maintain it for thousands of years? The power of these Runes is extremely strong, and if this were a possibility, how could they easily be sketched? Your claim is completely incorrect,” Logan said with certainty, backing his words with sound logic, leaving the man at a loss for words. Faced with the odd looks from everyone, he felt he had lost a great deal of face.
Yet, instead of admitting it, he turned the blame on Logan: “Blackwood City Master, would you really trust a young man? He’s only nitpicking, after all.”
“Kid, stop spouting nonsense,” the man said, growing angry, and even attempting to lay hands on Logan, which only appeared to be quite ludicrous.
It wasn’t just the Blackwood City Master; the several dozen people who came with him also found it ridiculous: “If you’re not capable, could you please step aside and let us find the cause?”
Though seething with indignation, knowing he didn’t have the ability, the man glared fiercely at Logan before begrudgingly retreating to one side.
The remainder of the group observed for a long time, but still could not discern anything. In the face of this Seal, apart from a few Runes, they couldn’t even see the Seal itself, let alone know where the trapped person was. Was this really an array? How could an array be invisible and intangible?
Oliver Bennett was losing patience and shook his head: “They are truly a pack of mediocre talents. Compared to Logan, there is no gap. To use ‘gap’ to describe the difference between them would be an insult to Logan.”
“There’s no helping it. We people of the Immortal Realm couldn’t resolve it; how could finding a group of outsiders possibly repair the Seal?”
The Blackwood City Master gave a wry smile, he had made a great effort, yet all it brought were a bunch of misfits.
“Blackwood City Master, we do have a plan. Let’s abandon this Seal and set up a new array here. If the person trapped does manage to leave the Seal, we guarantee they won’t escape our array,” proposed the group, at a loss but still eager for the promised reward from the City Master, and most importantly, unwilling to lose face.
But the Blackwood City Master just rolled his eyes in response. After all, the one inside the Seal was a Saint Emperor Powerhouse. What kind of array could permanently contain a Saint Emperor?
What do you think?
