"Ryan!?"
Hearing Alex's words, Becca suddenly remembered her son.
She stared at Alex, not quite understanding his meaning. Or rather, she couldn't figure out what was going on in his mind anymore.
"What did you do to my son!? I warn you, if you lay a hand on Ryan, I'll drag you down to hell, even if it costs me my life!"
"I've been to hell. Believe me, you definitely don't want to go there," Alex said, waving his hand, then speaking calmly.
"And you've misunderstood. It's not me who is going to harm your son, it's someone else. Just think about it, the world is in chaos now, Homelander and Soldier Boy have already gone to war. What kind of end do you think Ryan, the child of Homelander, will face?"
Hearing this, Becca's pupils contracted. Without Alex needing to say much more, she could already guess what was about to happen.
"Vought."
This place was originally built by Vought Group specifically for Ryan and her. Everything here was created with Ryan's better development in mind, built just for him.
But now, Vought Tower had become a ruin, superheroes were fighting in the streets of the city, and this place was no longer safe—it had lost all meaning.
Vought's upper management would never let go of a child as full of potential as Ryan. They needed him, this child who could surpass even Homelander, to rebuild Vought.
This was their trump card, their final card.
As long as they could control Ryan, no matter what the future held, Vought would eventually reinvent itself and reappear in the public eye.
Just as Edgar had said before, the birth of superhumans was an established fact that no one could change. Even if Vought was destroyed, the world could never go back.
Realizing this, Becca immediately sprang into action. She aimed her gun at Alex and said, "I need you to help me save Ryan."
"Tsk, tsk, the arrogance. Is this how you ask for help? Besides, why should I help you?" Alex raised an eyebrow.
"You promised Butcher to protect our safety!" Becca said seriously.
"Sorry, I promised Butcher to protect your safety. Ryan isn't technically included in that," Alex shrugged, showing no intention of getting up.
"Fine, even if it's just to protect my safety, you should come with me. Vought is likely sending a special ops team to capture Ryan, and I need you to guarantee my safety." Becca gritted her teeth.
But Alex remained unmoved. He picked up his cup again and blew on the steam rising from it.
"If anyone dares to come into this house and harm you, I will intervene. But if you insist on going out to die, I can't stop you."
"You!"
Becca pointed at Alex, unable to speak for a long moment.
Grinding her teeth in frustration, she knew the situation was dire. While the two of them were arguing, Vought's people might already be surrounding Ryan's location. Becca just wanted to ensure her son's safety.
With that thought, she shot Alex a sharp look, then sighed deeply, grabbing her gun and turning to head out.
Becca knew she no longer had time to waste with Alex. At the same time, she held a faint hope—maybe Alex would follow her, as he had to ensure her safety.
Sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed, Alex let out a slight smile when he heard the sound of Becca slamming the door and starting her car.
This is your choice.
Placing his tea cup gently on the table, Alex took out three cards from his pocket and laid them side by side on the table.
Looking at the X-Men logo on the back of the cards, Alex pondered for a moment, then reached out and slowly flipped the middle card over.
As he did, the front of the card appeared before him.
It was of a woman wearing a golden mask and a blue-green robe that enveloped her entire body.
"Fate."
Irene Adler, creator of the Books of Truth, the great-grandmother of the X-Men's Blindfold.
He lightly tapped the card and smiled even more.

Vought Community, a car speeding down the road.
At this moment, Becca no longer cared about anything else. She just wanted to get to her son, Ryan, and ensure his safety.
The private school wasn't too far from Becca's place—normally, it would only take about ten minutes to drive there. But this time, pushing her car to the limit, Becca cut the time in half and arrived at her destination.
From a distance, she could already see the group of soldiers in special ops uniforms surrounding the building. It was clear that they were all carrying various firearms.
"No, Ryan!"
Slamming the brakes, Becca didn't even wait for the car to stop before throwing open the door and rushing toward the private school.
In the quiet environment, the sound of Becca's car had naturally caught the attention of the soldiers. As they saw her running toward them, they immediately reacted.
One of the leaders stepped forward and blocked Becca's path.
"Sorry, Mrs. Becca, according to the orders of Vought Group, we need to take your child. This is to ensure his safety. Please come with us."
"No, stop lying to me! You think I don't know anything? The outside world is in chaos, Vought is done for, and you bastards won't touch me or my child!" Becca shoved the soldier, but her strength was too weak. With a simple push, the soldier sent her flying onto the grass.
"Watch your manners, ma'am!" The leader of the soldiers frowned. In fact, Vought had not instructed him to take Becca.
Their orders were clear: at all costs, take Ryan under control and bring him back. Vought Group had set up an island specifically to handle Ryan's situation.
"You will not harm a single hair on Ryan!" Becca struggled to get up, raising her gun and aiming it at the leader.
Her actions instantly alerted all the surrounding soldiers, who immediately raised their guns, aiming directly at Becca's head.
If Becca were unarmed, they wouldn't have paid much attention to her. They would have dismissed her quickly.
But the situation changed once she pulled out the handgun.
These mercenaries wouldn't hesitate when faced with a threat to their safety.
"I'll say this one more time, ma'am: leave here. This is your last warning, not a negotiation," the leader said with a grim expression, his face filled with anger.
"I'll say this again. I will never—"
Bang! Bang! Bang!!
Without any warning, the mercenaries opened fire instantly. Becca didn't even have time to react, and she didn't even finish speaking.
The first bullet struck her hand, the one holding the gun, to destroy her ability to resist.
If the distance had been greater, it would have been harder to hit, but with such close range and after careful aiming, the mercenaries couldn't miss.
Then, the automatic rifles fired in succession, and in just one burst, Becca was turned into a sieve.
Blood splattered onto the grass, and Becca's eyes retained a look of anger even in death. She had never imagined that they would shoot her so mercilessly.
"No!!! Mom—"
As the mercenaries fired, Ryan, who had been hiding inside the school, let out a horrific, soul-crushing scream.
Ryan had already sensed the mercenaries approaching. He didn't know who they were, but the fear of the unknown made him instinctively hide.
He crouched in a storage closet, trembling and hugging his knees, praying that the mercenaries wouldn't find him. He was terrified.
Just as he was overwhelmed with fear, he suddenly heard his mother Becca's voice. Ryan didn't understand how he could hear it, as they were far apart, but somehow he could.
Slowly lifting his head, Ryan looked like a wounded little animal trying to find his mother.
He stared blankly toward the source of the sound, his gaze piercing through the storage closet and the walls, directly seeing Becca, who was standing face-to-face with the mercenaries, holding a gun.
Ryan saw his mother arrive, but before he could even smile, he watched in horror as Becca was riddled with bullets.
He froze in place.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
It was as if someone had struck him in the head with a hammer. Ryan stood motionless, stunned.
After several seconds, his mind slowly processed the tragic reality.
Crimson light filled Ryan's pupils as an overwhelming surge of anger and fury erupted from deep within him. He didn't even know where the strength came from, but in his despair, he let out a desperate scream.
The terrifying soundwave instantly shattered the surrounding glass, even startling the mercenaries outside. They stared in shock at the private school, their hearts racing with alarm.
The mercenaries, who had long been accustomed to living on the edge of death, were now filled with unease. They exchanged uneasy glances, as if something terrifying was awakening inside the school.
The leader of the mercenaries frowned. He knew that the target was a child suspected to be a superpowered being, but he didn't have the full details. At this moment, he didn't know what to do next.
However, once a mission is accepted, it cannot be abandoned. That was the mercenaries' code, and since they were working for Vought, after hesitating, the leader decided to press on with the mission.
Boom!!
At that moment, a laser shot out with a terrifying burst of energy, piercing through the walls of the building and heading straight for the leader of the mercenaries.
In the blink of an eye, the man was sliced in half by the laser.
The terrifying scene stunned the other mercenaries. They gripped their guns tightly and slowly turned to look toward the school.
From within the shattered wall of the building, a small boy with glowing red eyes was glaring at them with a twisted expression on his face.
He looked like the Grim Reaper.
