Chapter 1717: One Of The Top Sovereigns
The young man genuinely felt like his attack would kill Grey, and even when he wanted to avoid it, he was already too close to Grey. Either he hit him in the heart, or he hit him in the heart. There was no way around it, he tried to move the blade, but it was already too late. "No!!" He screamed just as the dagger was about to hit Grey in the heart.
Grey knew why the young man was acting in that manner and couldn't help but feel disappointed. He didn't rate anyone of these people from this place, they might have higher cultivation stages, but they weren't warriors, none of them is useful in a battlefield.
As much as Grey didn't want to get hit by their attacks, he also didn't want them to act in this manner.
'This is the difference between someone that has been in a life and death fight and not.' He thought to himself.
If he were in the young man's position, although he would stop on trying in kill his opponent since there's a chance that it's a companion, it didn't mean that he wouldn't try to incapacitate the person. If he felt whoever the person is was better alive than dead, he'll keep them alive, even when his strike was aimed to kill. This is something he had learned over the years, but this guy changed the aim of his attack the second he noticed that Grey couldn't dodge it.
A move known to rookies. This was a rookie move, and only people who hadn't been in multiple positions of life and death scenarios would fall for it. Unfortunately, all his opponents in the Pyro World fit into this category.
The young man hurriedly moved his attack away, hoping that he'll be able to dodge Grey. Unfortunately for him, Grey was the one who passed through the attack. He didn't dodge it, rather, Grey phased through it. The fact that he could phase through it meant that he wasn't one to be taken for granted, unfortunately, these guys did.
Vale's companion didn't think that Grey was someone who had a way to deal with people who could move Sovereigns. He can't move just Sovereigns, but everyone in the cultivation plane with his abilities.
Vale's Eagle fought with his fire snake, and the moment the Eagle won, there was another one. At the moment, this was the third one. In the space of a few minutes, a figure who couldn't handle two Sovereigns was already on the stage to defeat two. Grey couldn't beat these people, unfortunately, these people didn't believe it either, even when he was in the process of beating both.
His fire snakes stopped the darkness element Eagle from causing any harm to him, but that wasn't the main issue, the main issue was letting someone of lower cultivation stages to have this audience. And the only reason a Sixth stage Sovereign had all this audience is because he had something he was fighting prior to the competition.
Grey phased through the attack, and he didn't dwell on the young man who believed that was his end, rather, he shook that person as well as the rest.
Grey phased through the young man's attack, and went straight for Vale. In this competition, the rest people weren't needed, and anyone else was just doing the most. This was what all those at the edge of the Seventh and Eighth stage had in mind. But Grey made sure that even with his presence, these people wouldn't be interfered with.
After phasing through the attack, Grey attacked the young man. The attack was deliberate. The Sovereign battling with Grey felt like Grey wanted to use him and his companion as stepping stones to rise to the top, and he wasn't having it, hence the reason he wanted to hastily take Grey down. Unfortunately for him, his attack missed.
The young man couldn't harm Grey, but Grey's attack was already about to hit the body of the young man. If the young man didn't react accordingly, then there's a good chance that this would be his last chance to battle since Grey's physique is well known by Vale who already had his wrist broken.
The young man wasn't supportive of Grey's movement as he felt that Grey should've been defeated in the Sixth stage. Seeing him performing in the Seventh stage, Vale didn't enjoy it. Now, he wanted to take him down. Xaden wasn't the only one who had an eye for Matilda, and seeing that she was showing some sort of interest to someone they didn't like, they wanted to make sure this person was defeated.
Grey meeting Matilda ordinarily was different since it wouldn't be in the presence of these geniuses, but there were a lot who wanted Matilda to be with them, and seeing that she's showing an interest in Grey, they didn't have a good impression of him.
Grey didn't need anything to get who he wanted, well, that was his plan. The duo seemed to want someone to get to the next stage, and he didn't have any problems with that. All he wanted was to be in the top ten.
He didn't hold back after phasing through the attack. His attack landed on the body of Vale's attacker, but it was alright, at least it didn't kill him. From what he learned from others in the arena, the top four in the Seventh stage of the Sovereigns competition wanted to break through to the Eighth stage and compete there.
No one challenged them, so there was no way for them to break through. However, Grey not only challenged one of them, but two. As long as Grey remained undefeated by them, all three would be able to face an Eighth stage Sovereign on their own.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
The plan of the rest was for the Eighth stage of the Sovereign Plane, and realizing Grey could survive the Seventh stage, they moved on to the next stage.
What do you think?
